I never believed I could even lose this much with the band. I always said to my hubby that I would be happy at size 16...ok so now I'm almost out of a size 12...slowly into some 10's. who would ever believe, not me. 2 years this month...it is so do-able but you must take this process or journey in stride. I gave myself a two year goal that I would drop weight and get healthy. There were many plateaus in the past two years some harder than others. The gradual fills helped me lose. It might have been a pound or two than nothing. But it was more than what I could have ever done in the past 15 years of yo-yo fun. Hang in there you will succeed!!!

It is hard to log into LBT these days

Hang in there hopefully this fill will get you there.
  3. Yes sometimes that restriction doesn't hit for a bit. When it does you will certainly know. Just remember its a process that takes time. This band is a slower process but I think we will keep the weight off healthy because its slower. We also learn how to eat and take care of our bodies as we gradually get these fills. Good luck.

    Which side is your port?

Left a few inches above belly button and left.
  5. Six weeks is so so early to be understanding how the fills actually control your satiety. Once you get your fills and somewhat gradual you will know how our "tool" works. I'm two years out this month, 113 pounds off, and didn't really feel restriction until filled at about 3.5cc and more. Then it became apparent how my band works. Be patient you will succeed and not regret it.

    First fill today - nervous!

It's ok to take your time on fills. Remember it's a journey!!!!

    stomach ache

Could it be the band restricted on the vagus nerve? I had an unfill with pinched feeling between shoulder blades and stomach hurting, belching, just too darn tight. I feel better now after six days with 1/4cc taken out for now.

The # 1 Lesson I Learned from my Band

Wow, I really like that! You took words right out of my head!!!! It's eating out of necessity, nutrition to live...instead of eating out of excess or luxury. Same feelings that I will eat what I can eat, not a race to the restaurant. I love this feeling!!!!
  9. Yep I didn't start wearing tighter more fitting clothes until I got into a size 14...I think both mentally challenging. I feel great mentally when I'm also exercising which benefits physically. Really is a balancing act with band, eating, drinking, exercising, adjustment fills, an occasional bump in the road on our journey. Good luck and congrats little turtle.
  10. Slow turtle? Try two years December 21....but... I'm down 113 pounds 11 pounds to goal. I'm definitely not caught up with size. Started in a 24, tried on a size 11 bootcut jean this afternoon and thrilled I could wear them (I had originally brought to the dressing room a size 13 jean) whoa baby I thought!!!! Just to add the slow turtle wins the race!

    Unfill and feeling much better.

I am so glad to hear this from others. So right that its not worth the weight loss if its uncomfortable, unhealthy, and unhappy for us. I will take the slow boat over the the next month...or so, don't want to be over restricted.

    How long until you notice

Good on feeling better. I was feeling better in 24 hours but still sore. Yesterday I felt great. Amazing how too much restriction brings out bodies down. We should feel fairly good when eating with the rules.

    stomach ache

To add, some days were fine...most were not.

    stomach ache

PLEASE call your doc...too tight and just gone done with that experience with back pain. It's too restricted and you may feel horrible and compromise your health and band. Message me if you want to talk I can give you my phone number. I suffered for a month. In denial I was.
  15. 10cc band and at 5.75cc (after a 1/4cc unfill this month)...12 pounds to goal banded two years December 21.

    Is it normal?

You might be too tight. Call your doctor. Sip, sip, sip but you should be able to get a cup of food down once you do your liquids for a couple of days.

How Many Calories Do You Take In A Day

I try to reach a 1,000-1,200 goal but often fall to 800-900. Now with unfill I can get 1,000 in at one cup of food per meal.

    How long until you notice

Hope you are doing ok. The last thing we need is a damaged tummy, esophagus, or band. Remember our journey takes some time. You will feel so much better with unfill...will be amazed and it doesn't mean you can't go get a fill down the road. I'm four days out from unfill and eating one cup of food per meal, exercising, skin tone coming back, energy like I had before, and feeling very happy!!!!

    1 cc removed

Yes unfill good. My surgeon out me on full liquids after unfill for three days...ok by day two and a half I was ready for dine hearty soup but its normal that your tummy is tender, mine a tiny bit bruised but he was gentle. I am so relieved from the unfill. I feel like a new person. The last thing we need is to compromise our health or our band.

    The stomache flu:(

Zofran works good. My surgeon has a prescription for me and I only use it when I am severely nauseated...which is rare. But working at a preschool I have good immunities and terrible paranoia about vomiting with my band. My surgeon knows this too. Has always said don't hesitate to call if I get sick.

    Unfill first time

Thanks and yes I use My Fitness Pal and love it! Feeling great tonight. Just got back from Golds Gym. 15 min stair climber and 30 minutes of treadmill just to start out slow. Amazing how unfill just a tiny bit changed my energy and overall feeling of wellness. Thx for support:)
  23. This is the first time I feel like I'm a failure. I know this is the nature of the beast (I prefer to call it beauty) of lapband. I've been having shoulder blade pains, belching like a trucker, and some stuck episodes on the easiest food.
  24. PB is to me...when food is coming down, may get a little stuck. Saliva builds up in your mouth, which either you belch and all goes down or you spit up a little with the small bit of food that did not get down properly. That's the only way I can explain. You are not throwing up from the stomach, more so burping up like a baby spits up a little formula. It doesn't happen often but if your band is filled too tight or if you don't follow the eating rules it could happen. Don't be scared, but you dont want it happening too much. If anyone has better description chime in. I was too tight in band recently. Very few and far between, you will know it wen it happens...deer in headlights.
  25. Make sure you get regular fills and stick to the golden rules. You can do this again...I was banded two years this month. Went from 276 now to 163. It has taken some time but I'm so close to goal. Just remember how good you will feel, healthy!!!!
