    Treated Differently Now

I tried to keep it quiet but now since I was banded in 2010, I'm proud when people say I look great. I tell them I was banded and I feel so much healthier. I try not to talk too about it unless people want to know more....ask me anything!
  2. It's funny now that it has been over a year and half I can look back and these posts are oh so familiar!!!! Just hang in there. I also remember my first Einstein toasted bagel that did not work for me!!!! Funny how we can remember such moments and there will be more to come. Our tool that has been installed in our bodies is just a tool...we have to work at making it work for us!

    Really Need A Buddy?

If u need an ear, not professional advice but experience advice, I am here and have been through ups, downs, and all arounds. No one will know what it feels like unless they have walked in our shoes. It's going to be ok:) life different, but I do not regret my band and life change!!!! There will be good and bad days... I'll never want to go back to where I was, 268 and down to 190!
  4. Ate you currently unfilled or did your surgeon film your band for first time at surgery? Mine did not fill until one month and half later so I could heal first.
  5. I'm new to this forum but banded in 2010. I will make sure that I let all know if I refer to medications it will be based on what worked for me. I agree that most important discuss what your needs are with your surgeon and support team. I am learning so much from what I read but need to make sure it is safe and ok for me:)
  6. I remember my first solid soft food...KFC mash potatoes and gravy... Felt like Thanksgiving!

    Falling Off :(

Yes but it's my head I know this! I still do it after all this time:( then I pay dearly for it with the sime factor. There's a book my support team uses called Mindful Eating... They use this in our support group

  9. Please take it slow. You are healing still. Lots of hydration. You don't want stomach issues or stretching stay strict for your success.

    Need Help

If surgeon has your band not filled just installed, as I call it, remember that your body is healing from the change of a foreign object in there. I remember drinking lots of Gatorade, liquid jello, beef broth, protein bullets, etc. soon you will be ok I promise. We tend to focus on what we CAN eat. This will pass I promise.

    Falling Off :(

I went through a period last May where I chose not to get an adjustment...going to Disneyland. But later realized I needed to get my head back into the game of why I needed to lose the weight in the first place. I am one to admit I've taken it slower than most. I am now in the green zone and feel good about this adjustment and loss. You will have those ups and downs and off the wagons...it's ok. I'm enjoying the restriction I can honestly say...hunger may mean u need an adjustment, up your protein intake, or spice up your menus
  12. I had an administrator say to me, "Don't you live yourself enough? Why would u get a lapband, you should be proud of yourself". This Hirt and I didn't have the comeback until later... Yes, I love myself enough to get myself in a healthier state so I may watch my children and grand children grow up. This person had a very bad bout of diabetics complications about a month ago. Bless her she made it through, but should have thought about her words:(

  14. Stomach is still getting used to its lovely new lifestyle. You know your body best. Sometimes too cold of shakes tightens the band up, water retention, stress, etc. Take it slowly one day at a time sip sip sip:)
  15. I would call your doc if it gets bigger. I had a couple bruises in front and side, maybe pulling of the stomach during surgery not sure but the eventually went away.
  16. My support staff at surgeon office informed me of this pain, part of gas that blows up your body during surgery. Good back rub liquid pain meds. I still get these pains if something feels stuck or come back up if I eat too big of bites, don't chew well, or not good choice of food that disagrees. When this happens might as well go back to full liquids for a day or so:(

    Banded Yesterday

I was really sore by third and fourth day...take it easy. Use pain meds if you need to but don't forget something to help constipation!!!!! Stomach is healing and body making adjustments from anesthesia and diet change:)
  18. I hear stories and get nervous. But I also know that we have to stick to those rules so we don't have complications (which some just happen like I have read). I have had some "stuck" sliming issues lately, I guess that's why I'm here tonite. I'm scared and need help. Some days great a couple not so great. I want this to be successful. Banded 2010 from 268 to 190 slowly
  19. Been there and this too will pass. The first two weeks I remember feeling a rainbow of emotions from happiness to regret from resentment to high anxiety. First your body is healing plus you are dealing with a new style of life in general. Just lately I feel an empty void that's not food anymore. So instead I walk or clean, also running a huge preschool and high demands. Hang in there and know there is light at end of tunnel.
  20. I forgot to add that I decided to take the slow turtle route with many adjustments and slower weight loss. I started at 268 in December 2010...I am 190 now... But finally in the real green zone, my hair may start getting thin now that I'm at 5.5 cc things a little harder to get through, got to concentrate on healthy proteins I think now!
  21. Honestly I never did...dec 21 2010... My hair actually became thicker and shinier. Make sure you ate taking your vitamins and intake of protein including liquid protein. So important:)
  22. I remember having stomach pain for the first two weeks. I followed clear liquids to full liquids all the way through...but remember your stomach is healing and needs time to adjust. I was banded 2010 (dec). Still learning that you must stay on liquids for three days after a fill (my doctor rules) there's a reason for that...stomach is being messed with. Give it time and see by next week. Hope that help but call your doc
