Soreness & No Weight Loss in 3 Months

Does the surgeon or practice you used have an aftercare program? Support groups? On site dietitian and exercise specialist? Use all of their resources to help get you going back in the right direction. Also, take into consideration that a lot of meds hinder weight loss... Go back to about week 3-4 post op and start fresh. Change your mind...and change your life! Hang tough!

    Creamed Soups

Have you ever considered making your own? There are several really easy recipes available online. Also, I used the low sodium Cream of Chicken soup added sauteed veges and blended then heated...yummy! Good luck!

    Discouraged

Do you live anywhere near Dallas/Ft.Worth? That is ridiculous! It's the thing I love about my job...we have 3 locations and will see you within 2 weeks max! I think I'd be looking to go elsewhere. I would be worried about the response time for surgery and post-op questions/problems!
  5. Hey all...it's been a while! 52lbs later and feeling great! Hitting the weight room hard trying to put it back on in muscle! Hope everyone is doing well!

    Extreme Fatigue And Palpitations

Thanks Cleo! I will definitely look into that! It could be the case! I will get my surgeon to let me know how much I should take and in what form.
  7. I am 2 months post op and for the past month am experiencing heart palpitations, extreme fatigue, weakness, and feeling a bit short of breath which seems to occur due to what feels like my heart is pounding. I am being weaned off of several blood pressure meds, am getting my protein and fluids in...any one else experience anything similar?

    Extreme Fatigue And Palpitations

Thanks all! I went to the ER because this has been going on for a month now, and I work for my bariatric surgeon, so this is what I do all day, everyday. I was not deficient in any areas. I am making sure to get an adequate amount of calories with a balanced diet. The only thing I can think of is the fact of them weaning me from 3 HBP meds to all most none at all. I think the Toprol XL was keeping my ole' ticker from going bizerk as I was diagnosed with irregular heart beat as a child. Scheduled to see my cardiologist Friday! Thanks again!

    I Miss Food

This is totally understandable. For the first time this morning I woke up and told my husband, "I wished I had a my old football sized tummy to stuff with a huge breakfast buffet this morning!" While I have no regrets, it was a thought. You may need to look up some info on antidepressants and talk to your PCP. I work for a bariatric surgeon and this is sometimes used in a low dosage to help get through some of life's tough spots without the comfort of food. And it will help to stimulate your mind enough to get you looking into new outlets or hobbies. Good luck and I hope everything works out well for you!
  10. I had the same exact thing shortly after surgery. It lasted about 6 weeks, and yes my doctor said muscle and nerve endings. I am 2 months post op and am still pretty numb on the left side of my navel. Of course, if you are concerned you should call your surgeons office.

    Hard Labor Work Post Op

Oh, yes! He went back 4 weeks post op! Good luck and take care!
  12. I happen to work for the surgeon I use, so I think he's the best because I KNOW all details of daily operations, etc. So I definitely trust him. I'd worked here at My Bariatric Solutions (Dr. Scott Stowers) for a year and a half before going to surgery. Look the doctor up on the American Medical Association website, check with your states medical board, and use docboard.org. (according to ehow.com)
  13. I think we were typing at the same time! Sounds like you've got what you need and I definitely agree..move one by them! Now it's your turn! GO FOR IT! Good luck and hang in there!
  14. Do you have 2 co-morbidities or weight related illnesses such as sleep apnea, high blood pressure, or diabetes? Did your doctor send you out for testing for these illnesses? What type of insurance do you have?

    Hard Labor Work Post Op

My husband was sleeved last year in April and works in the oil fields. He made sure to stay super hydrated with Gatorade and water and was fine. He worked 12-16 hour days also. If I were you I would check with the doc and maybe have labs drawn first just to make sure you are healthy enough to take on this Texas heat.

    Sleep Study Requirement?

By the way, I did the sleep study, was diagnosed with sleep apnea, had surgery, then refused the CPAP!

    Sleep Study Requirement?

Doctors require sleep studies for a couple of reasons...if your BMI is under 40 and you do not have 2 comorbid (weight related) illnesses your doctor is trying to help you qualify. Otherwise, some doctors require them for all patients who are morbidly obese due to the risk during surgery while under anesthesia.

    Should Have Measured

Dr. Scott Stowers and My Bariatric Solutions actually has an Exercise Specialist who does all measurements prior to surgery, and monthly afterward...including total fat percentages etc. I am 1 month post op and excited to go get measurements today!
  19. When considering paying cash for the sleeve don't overlook Dr. Scott Stowers in Decatur, Dallas and Keller/Ft.Worth. He performed my surgery and they have a cash special for $10,950 the website is mybariatricsolutions.com...I know it's a distance but well worth it! Good luck and NEVER give up!

    When Did You Try Salad?

This past weekend! At 4 weeks post op! And boy was it good! I chopped everything in tiny bits and pieces and added rotisserie chicken, finely chopped as well!
  21. Glad to hear that you are home and doing as well as to be expected! Are you taking a PPI? It is the first thing I do in the mornings since being sleeved. I was given prescription Prilosec but it was not working very well for me. I went and bought Zantac 150 and it's a miracle! I have not had half of the acid or heart burn and burping since. I take it twice daily, most days!

    Inexpensive Protein Suggestions

I really like the EAS Vanilla Soy proteing powder from Wal-Mart. I bought the small container for $10 to make sure I liked it. I also bought chocolate and strawberry sugar free syrups to change up the flavors a bit every now and then.
  24. Sorry, I didn't pay attention to when you were sleeved. Ok, so for me at 1 week post op here was the typical day: Mixed 2 scoops of Protein powder (27g each of protein) with Water, added ice and shook=54g Mixed 2 scoops of Bene-Protein by Nestle (6g of protein) to my Powerade Zero=12g Drink WATER , WATER, WATER Mixed 1 scoop of Protein powder to water, added ice and shook =27g I bought vanilla flavored and unflavored protein powder. I would also add unflavored protein powder to my broth. With Vanilla I would add Sugar Free chocolate syrup or strawberry syrup for different flavors.
  25. It would depend on how many weeks post op you are. When were you sleeved?
