I have been overweight my whole life. My mother says that I started gaining weight when I went to school and had to sit all day. I remember dieting at a young age (8-9 years old). The cabage diet was the worst!!! My mother even joined us up for weight watchers. Nothing really worked for me. Now, I don't want it to seem as though I have an overbearing mother. I don't. She's an amazing woman who was doing what she thought was the best for me at the time and I always understood why she tried to get my sister and I to loose weight. My father on the other hand would say things that really cut to the bone. I know he meant no malace by it, but hearing, "You would be so beautiful if only you lost some weight" still haunts me to this day. My mother always made sure to tell me that I was beautiful no matter what i weighed. Her focus was on heath. at the age of 12, I joined a gym. I worked out constantly. I still didn't loose weight. I was in shape though. I learned very early that I would never be like the other girls in my grade (a size 2). But, because I had such great parents, and I was active, I was happy with who I was. In high school I remember going to tennis practice for two hours, leaving there and going to a local pool and swimming laps for two hours. I barely ate, and worked out constantly and the smallest I ever got was a tight size 9-10.
