Lap Band With Gastric Plication
Bamabander replied to Calamity Jane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 weeks out too! Feeling great. It took me until today to be 100%, I think my hiatal hernia repair was partly to blame. I'm down 19.5 pounds since 5/29 . (8.5 pre-op) I went to lunch with the family today had grilled catfish and some green beans. I ate about 3oz fish and 6 or 8 green beans and I was satisfied. I walked 4 miles and hit my elliptical for 1 more. I think the hardest thing is the not drinking with meals, I really struggle with that. I'm hoping to really kick in high gear now that I feel better but can't wait to get cleared to do some weights for toning! I'm glad you are all well and hang in there Melinda, we are just human. I'm sure you jump right back in! -
I cook for my family and am not going to cook separate meals for myself so I am tweaking old favorites and coming up with meals that we all will eat. This is a super easy and great for us banded too! 4 frozen or fresh chicken breasts 1 jar salsa of your choice 1 can black Beans 1 can corn Place all ingredients in crock pot. Cook on high for 6-8 hours. Place all in a ninja blender or food processor ( I do 2 batches) and chop. My family eats this for taco filling. Top as you want. I have 3 oz. topped with some avocado. It's all I need and do yummy! If anyone has a family friendly recipe, please share it!

Anyone use a Body Bugg to help with your band journey? I'm on the fence in ordering one? Any advice?

I hate to hear that... I think that is do frustrating. I have BCBS and my approval didn't even take an hour... I was ready for a wait but surprised. I would call BCBS everyday til I had an answer. Good luck

Burping, All The Time
Bamabander replied to Kami76065's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! My surgeon is William Richards, recognized in US News & Workd Reports as "America's Top Doc" in Bariatric surgery, preformed over 1000 LapBand surgeries, 0 slips, 0 erosions and 0 loss of life during surgery... I did my homework and trust my doc... Wish everyone would stop acting like they are the experts on what I am directed to do! Each person does as they are instructed and don't need do many bystander bodies questioning it because it was different than what they were instructed! Perhaps new information is available and not all the docs have updated yet??? -
How Many "perfect" People Are Out There?
Bamabander replied to marfar7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm so happy to see some not perfect dieters posting! Gosh I am fairly new and keep reading all these posts about how healthy everyone eats and all I could think is if this is how you really eat, why did you need a band and furthermore how can you be fat eating so perfect?? I wonder how many are telling the truth! Thank you thank you thank you!! I was pretty sure I was going to fail eventually because if I could eat like this all the time I wouldn't be fat in the first place! This is the best post I've ever read on here! Thanks for being real! -
Spa day... The works!!!

My doc never had me do mushies. After my 1 week appt he said any soft food was fine and to work over the next 2-3 weeks to solids. He said bread was a soft food.

As much as it hurts try the spirometer 6 or 8 times at least 2 or 3 times a day. I really think this helps in the long run. The first couple really hurt but it does get better. I really thought that was the worst part. I also had a sharp pain on my left side of my abdomen with this, it got worse with deep breaths. Just know that this time next week it will practically be gone! Hang in there!

Carolina, I had the same shoulder pain. It's finally gone as of yesterday. I thought mine was because of a hiatal hernia repair but maybe it's just normal, pain meds and heating pads helped me... And sleep! You'll feel much better in a couple days! I used my spirometer even when it hurt... Seems like this would eventually ease it a bit.

When Does The Pain Die Down?
Bamabander replied to BreBre's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 5/29 and feeling almost normal today. This is really my first day with our a lot if tightness but I still feel it when I walk or am doing light chores. I'm thinking by 2 weeks it will be completely gone... I hope!!! I only took pain meds for 4 days and then to sleep for 2 more nights. Each morning I wake up feeling much better! -
Congrats Bunnies!!! That's great news!!!

Day After Surgery Question?
Bamabander replied to TexasSoccerMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 5/29 and can say day 2 was mostly sleeping. I would say have a big container of your water/ crystal light near by and you will be fine. If your 13 year old is around I am sure he can help you getting things or call an adult friend or 911 in an emergency. I think you will be fine but of course you know your situation best. Good luck! -
I think we were banded the same day. I am doing tuna fish, hummus, ricotta cheese, oatmeal, I blenderized some creamed chicken, fish.. So far grilled catfish and tilapia, applesauce.. Hope this helps! I ate my tuna on a toasted sandwich thin today and it tasted great and I had no problems.

Banded May 29Th. Does Anyone Else Feel Isolated?
Bamabander replied to Partymom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 5/29 too. Had my check up yesterday and I was cleared to go on soft foods. No problems so far. I've had scrambled eggs, grilled catfish, Mac n cheese and tomato slice (no skin) and a couple shrimp (cold) with cocktail. These are pretty small portions, like 3 or 4 tiny bites but I'm feeling much better on food. I was allowed applesauce, oatmeal, soup, protein shakes and clear prior. My favorite shakes are premier protein from SAMs club/ Costco, love them! I bought the extreme whey from GNC, cookies and cream and vanilla flavor, cost over $100 for the 2 containers and they are ok... But the last thing I go for... More I feel obligated to drink after putting out so much $$$. They do have packets to try of choc and vanilla, guess I should have tried th first! I feeling good but lots of gas and some internal pain, kinda like things are trying to find where they belong, if that makes any sense. Hope you get all your answers at your appt! Keep me posted! Btw, I thought eating food would cause an immediate gain but suprisingly, I'm down 1.2 today. I'm not worrying about it a lot because I'm healing but it's always in the back of my mind. -
