My first choice was the sleeve surgery but my insurance has a 50 bmi requirement... which I think is, at the least, and outdated policy but it is what it is. My choices are bypass or banded plication. I am having trouble finding anyone who has had this. Just wondering, if you had this procedure, are you happy with it? Some sites are sayinbg that weight loss is comparable to RNY... but I was wondering if there are any real peopple that had this sone and can concur... I have to decide today... any thoughts???

I still have sweet cravings on occasion and love a good donut! I don't know how many of you can still eat donuts but for those who can I wanted to share a great deal that's today only... I've ordered Holey Donuts for years. They are incredibly decadent ( low calorie, low fat and lower sugar donuts with 4-5 g of protein each) calories are 80 - 229 depending on what you choose. The shipping is not cheap but today they are offering the donuts for $5.99 a box! They come freshly baked and flash frozen, you can keep them in the freezer and defrost when the mood strikes. Here is the nutrition facts http://www.holeydonuts.net/low-fat-donuts/pc/catalog/nutrition%20insert%20111109.pdf I know it's not the best choice but once in a while it's nice to have a treat without blowing a whole day.

1Stfill...how Much Did Your Dr Put In The 1St Fill
Bamabander replied to DeAna N's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Am I the only one whose surgeon won't tell how many cc's? My fills are always under fluroscope and when I asked how much... He said he doesn't tell the patients because every one is different as far as what is needed... So I have no idea. -
Oh my Yes!!! Ruth's Chris...Buffalo Mozzerella Caprese, Filet Oscar, sweet potatoe caserole, creamed corn, chocolate mousse pie and a great bottle of Pinot Noir... I've gone back twice since surgery and now I split a meal with my 12 yo daughter, little bites of sides. I still love great food but I love wearing smaller clothes much more!!!!

Inspiration - You Are Awesome!

I had a similar moment today... I exchanged hellos with an avid, drop dead gorgeous size 2... And she gave the nicest smile when she said it... It really made me feel less embarassed about the sweat pouring off my body! Thanks for sharing! -
Good luck! I think you will find the seminar will answer a lot of your questions. I don't think insurance will be a problem as long as your policy covers WLS. I think your BMI is 51-52... Doubt you will need any co-morbids due to that! I can tell you it was the best decision I ever made.. Just wished I'd do e it sooner!

Pre-Op Phase Shakes Are Killing Me!!!!
Bamabander replied to hbatson75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can not stand most protein shakes!! I can't get them down... The smell and taste are EWWWW! The only shake I can get down and enjoy are the Premier ready to drink. They have them at Sam's club and Costco. 30 grams of whey isolate protein, 160 calories and 1 gram of sugar. The pre-op diet is by far the worst part of this journey... Just keep on track and it will be over before you know it! -
Wow!!! Hot hot hot!!!

I recently had that type of pain. It burned and felt like I was being pinched really hard from the inside, right around my belly button. It really burned and was a sharp pain when i had it. Mine was worse with increased activity. It felt some better if I held my stomach, was worsened by coughing and laughing. My dr thought it was a hernia. Had a ct scan and everything was normal. They also checked the scan for appendicitis... All was normal. I am only 13 weeks out and my surgeon said that nerves that were cut during surgery are regenerating and the pain can come and go for weeks or months. Fortunately my flare ups of this are less intense and less often for the last 3 days. Not sure if being so far out from surgery if this is what you are experiencing but if it doesn't subside I'd check with your doctor. Hope you feel better soon!

I love MFP, I am neatnickk on there -
I have been having some excruciating pain below my port on the top and right of my belly button. The pain increase with any activity and subsides at rest. It got so bad several days ago that I had to leave my grocery cart and go home... It is a burning, searing pain that almost feels as though I'm being pinched from the inside. I saw my family doc Thursday, he thought an incisional hernia. Had a CT with barium and contrast on Friday morning and it was normal.., no hernia. I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow because, although it comes and goes and isn't always dibilitating I can't live like this... Any thoughts? Has anyone else ever had a similar experience or maybe it has nothing to do with the band? Thanks for your input..

I am 13 weeks post op. Saw my surgeon today and he reviewed my CT and concurred all is normal. He believes that it is coming from nerve regeneration ( nerves that may have been cut during the surgery from incisions.) I did have some numbness at this spot before and he said it is usually 8-12 weeks before the begin to regenerate. He explained that the pain can last weeks to months and to not worry unless any new symptoms occur. I hope mine is "weeks" and not months!

Is Salad A Red Flag Food?

Agree... I prefer the oil one, not the creamy! It is so good! Reminds me of Olive Garden salad dressing! Love it! -

Hi KAH! I'm not doing as well as I expected either. I've had a couple set backs.. The worse is I've had an air cast in my foot for 5 weeks... 1 more and it comes off. I'm down 28 total but hadn't lost in 4 weeks until this past week. Got a 2nd fill and am down 4 pounds In a week. I wonder if my plication is tight enough? Wonder if there are different sizes surgeons do?? I feel that with my new restriction and getting back to exercise I should have a good month, I bet you will too! Glad to hear from you! Carolina... You are rocking it! Way to go! Miss talking to you too! -
