6 weeks for me, which is next week. Can't wait, this being able to anything sucks! I NEED RESTRICTION!!
-
Very interested in why it took you that long to get to your 4th fill. I was banded 6 weeks ago and will get my 1st fill next week. I'm hoping that it doesn't take me a year to get 4 fills.

Hi there! I was banded 5/24. I get my first fill on 7/10. I had a rough start but I am doing well now. Just can't wait to get some restriction.

Your Out Of Pocket For Surgery.
lappyloo replied to radarluv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is disgusting how they over bill the insurance companies and they still end up paying way more than us self pay people had to pay. No wonder healthcare is where it's at... Greedy hospitals/Doctors. -
Your Out Of Pocket For Surgery.

I did the same, 10K but it didn't include the fills... not bad considering everywhere else is at least 15K in my area... my fills are $150, hopefully I can get into "my sweet spot" before 6 fills... -
Boy are you right about that! I was banded May24th and now the people that I did tell are my judge and jury. Everytime I eat or even look at food I get questioned. Seriously, I've had it. If they don't COMPLETELY understand the whole process, they need to mind their own-business!

You poor thing, i hope by now you have figured out what has been causing it. Please let us know. Lappyloo

Years ago i took it and lost 40llbs in 3 months. But gained it back once i stopped taking it. Then in the past year or two i tried it again and it didnt work well for me, i think my body grew immune to it. But it does give you energy.

Does anyone have any suggestions about the use of scar creams and gels? Any suggestions on what works the best? I know that the scarring is minimal anyways, but it doesn't hurt to try and help it be even less noticeable. Thanks!!

Good, because I was going to say if you weren't I really recommend a laxative. I went to the ER because my pain was sooo bad and I was not able to take deep breaths and they gave me a laxative and it cleared out all the gas buildup for sure. Glad you are better! I just hate to see anyone go thru what I went thru.

So would you recommend scar zone? I have a coupon for it. Or do you think that time is what healed it mostly? Money is really tight right now, my A/C went right after I had the surgery so that's another $3700 and I was self pay on top of it. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with Mederma or cocoa butter...

I'm sorry you are struggling but you are not alone! I'm struggling too, except I have cheated. I can't undo the cheating, all I can do is move forward and try to stay on track until I get saline in there to make me feel restriction. My husband has really been hard on me for it too.. it's really hard to have a husband that is worse than a mother. By the way, he is 6ft and 145 lbs. He doesn't comprehend over eating at all. He thinks its gross to keep eating if you are full or because you are bored. He literally can make a small bag of M&M's last a week. It's really starting to take a toll on our relationship. (

Banded Today -Gas Is Killing Me, Help
lappyloo replied to Lovemythreems's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My gas was so bad I had to go to ER. Mine was not typical however. I walked and walked and walked and my bowels just wouldnt budge. I couldnt burp or pass gas. My lungs actually began to show signs of pneumonia... so if anyone doesnt feel any better by day 4 I would call the Doctor! -
Banded Yesterday & Miserable, 5/21/12
lappyloo commented on blessed0711's blog entry in blessed0711's Blog
I'm 8 days post-op and I still have some gas pains. The gas was so bad that I couldnt breathe and was admitted in the hospital. That was day 5. I was not able to relieve my gas out of either end and it started to actually cause my lungs to collapse. I caught it in time but those gas pains are nothing to mess with. Make sure you get the gas out, if not it can be very painful! Gas x did nothing for me, but my dr had me take a laxative and that released everything and he also had me start taking pepto bismol. -
I had my surgery 5/24, and the breathing was unbearable I guess from the gas. Finally on Tuesday I went to the ER because it was very painful to take deep breaths. They admitted me. They were concerned I had a clot in my lungs or pneumonia. To say the very least, this has been a horrifying experience! They released me last nite from hospital with indications that I may have pneumonia. I am on my way to my primary care dr so he can take care of me from here. He is the only one I trust at this point. I WAS SELF PAY SO I HAD MY SURGERY IN A SURGERY CENTER NOT THE HOSPITAL. I BEGGED THEM NOT TO LET ME LEAVE BECAUSE I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS BREATHING ON THE DAY OF SURGERY, THEY STILL PUSHED ME OUT THE DOOR AT 5 PM. I HIGHLY SUGGEST IF YOU FEEL THIS WAY AFTER SURGERY, IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU SHOULD NOT GO HOME YET, DO NOT GO HOME. PLEASE GET ADMITTED SO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SUFFER THIS LONG BEFORE GETTING HELP. Of course pain from gas is normal, but if you feel that it may be a little more than expected, please make sure the dr's and nurses hear you loud and clear that you want help. I do not post this to scare anyone, only so that nobody has to go through what I have been through this week. I hope the rest of my journey is a positive one from this day forward!

Pneumonia-7 Days Post Op
lappyloo replied to lappyloo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry, this has been awful. I sure do hope you get to feeling better fast!!! -
Scared to go back to work tomorrow. The gas is the worst part, I can't seem to get it under control. I've been walking a lot and it helps but it's still there. Every time I take a sip of anything I can feel the gas getting worse. Is this normal?

I had mine done at St. Anthony's surgery center. It was a horrible experience. They couldn't get a vein to put the iv in, so they took like 15 minutes trying to get one in and in the middle of that one of the nurses cell phone rang and it was dance music ring tone. (hello, has she ever heard of vibrate) and she answered it! Then a janitor/maintenance man walked by and the bed I was on had a broken handle, so in the middle of all of this he asks if its a good time to fix it. I thought for sure I was on candid camera! It was so unbelievable, i was self pay so that is why i had it done so cheap at a surgery center. If your insurance covers it, it gets done in the hospital and you get better care. I had a hard time in recovery and it did not matter that i was not ready to leave at 5 when the office closed, they were not about to stay one minute late. What has happened to kindness and compassion to people. If I saw a patient struggling I wouldn't show them the door. But this is just my own personal experience, I did over hear one of the nurses say that they had over 40 surgeries that day and normally they dont have more than 15. Oh well, as long as I can heal completely and the lapband works as a great tool, I will get over how bad of an experience it was.

@daisychains7 I'm starting to feel some relief now, and I'm 24 hours in... thank you for the kind words!

I was banded yesterday afternoon, I have to say that it was not a great experience for me. It's not the surgery itself but the place I went to that was so disappointing. Anyways, this gas is horrific, i've drank warm tea, heating pad, slept sitting up, I dont know what else to do. I can't burp or do anything else at this moment to help relieve the pain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Lappyloo

Today is my day, a couple of weeks ago, especially when I started the pre-op diet, I didn't think this day would ever get here. But finally it has! I am so excited!! And ready for this journey to get on the road! I'm nervous because surgery is stressful, but I hope everything goes just fine and I can post on here later how everything goes. Lappyloo

One more day and I'm getting the band. Wow, so many emotions, good and bad. I really hope this roller coaster of emotions gets better after the surgery. My surgery isn't scheduled until the afternoon on Thursday, why on earth would they make a person go that long without being able to drink even water? Lappyloo
