I have Aetna. I haven't submitted my paperwork yet still waiting on them to decided about this whole sleep apnea mess. I just had my 3rd sleep study. The 1st was a split night. Meaning if my breathing got bad enough then she would wake me up and put me on the machine. Well she didn't wake me up but she said they still may make me come back cause I had some moments but nothing severe. Well my 2nd one they put me on the CPAP the whole night. Results came back and they said I didn't tolerate the CPAP so the wanted me to come back and get on the BYPAS now I'm waiting to see about that. I'm going to the Dr. this morning when my husband gets home. I have to get the rest of my paperwork together so I can get ready to send off for approval.

I went for my test last night and woke up at 5:30 this morning. She gave me the whole run down on sleep apnea. You don't always get a machine. You have to stop breathing so many times per hour and your oxygen levels has to drop so far and other factors have to be off before they just give you a machine. She told me she may wake me up and give me one if I needed it. Well good thing is she didn't have to wake me up, bad thing is she said once the Doctor looks at everything he may put me on one. Or if there was not enough information he would send me in for another test or do nothing. To be real all of these test they do are to give insurance a reason to say you need surgery. I have had a few surgerys so I know how they make you do tons of test to get approved. Then they also look at numbers how many people with sleep apnea did we help by giving them this surgery. At the end of the day sleep apnea is not going to hurt you while your having surgery if that was the case everyone one needs to have the test before they have any kind of surgery. Plus you are doing something that is going to make every bad thing you have going on in your body go away anyway.

I love being married and wouldn't change a day of it to be single again. The what ifs and the lonely nights. No THANK YOU! My husband completes me and even if I don't always get my way he knows how to still make me happy. He reminds me that it is not all about me and Lord knows that sometimes I still need to hear that.

medicaid while married?!?!?!
MrsYoungJr replied to jaxmommy2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay first of all I said he just got an job offer to make more money. With what we make and the amout of children we have they told me I still qualify. My husbands insurance is my primary and all tencare pays is my copay. I didn't lie on my paperwork and I gave all my info so if they say I can keep it I will. I have bills just like everyone else. And based on that don't get upset because of there rules not mine. My husband pays taxes like everyone else so to each is his own. Even before I got married I took care of my kids. I have income that comes in as well so we don't live off the government. He is trying to make more money so he can add my kids and we want need anything from the state. But I'm using my husbands insurance to have my surgery not tax payers. And if I was to use my tenncare I have the right like everyone else to use my insurance the way I see fit if I qualify. -

My husband has been there almost 5 years and get 2 raises a year so he makes good money plus they let him double whenever he wants. He makes good money at UPS and it also depends on what you do there. Just just offer him a driving job they start out at $26.00 hr. They have great advancements if you stick to it. -

I live in TN. I had it before I got married and I have 2 kids. Then when I got married they let me keep it and moved my husbands insurance to primary. They only gave it to me n the kids not him. They pay what ever his insurance want pay like copays. When it comes to the surgery both insurances here pay for the surgery. Of course I had to go though my husband's insurance first but if his didn't pay for it tenncare would. I have the paperwork from the seminar. -

It all depends on your income. My husband works for UPS and I have Aetna and Amerigroup. His im primary and Medicaid is my secondary. The worst they can say is no. It is worth a try but talk to ur husband. -

Have you sat down n talk to him. Does he go to the doctor and know what is going on with you. Slowly get him involved that way before you drop the bomb. Education is power. My husband didn't want me to do it at first but I didn't either. It was the fear of the unknown. But when he starts hearing the doctor point out all ur issues his view may change. Let him know that if he wants you around for along time you need this for the both of you not just you. You know how to get though to your husband. I was able to do it and my husband called his insurance after the seminar we had and found out my surgery would be 100% covered and the doctor I wanted was too. Just take baby steps and pray. If it is ment for you to have this you will sweetie. But my husband and I didn't not see eye to eye at first I even tried this past year to do it on my own after the 1st seminar we went to now I'm back on this same road1yr later so it may take time. But now we are both ready and I have learned so much about myself. -
So I am just starting my process. I have began to get blood work in order, sleep study appointments, and things like that together. I don't want to wait 6 months so if I'm approved though my husband's insurance I plan on doing the 3 month plan. It is going to cost some money upfront but I'm going to see if maybe some friends and family can help. In order to get started I have to pay the psychologist, nutritionist, exercise coordinator. Then I have to pay per visit for the next 3 months. The first month will be the hardest cause school is about to start back and my husband just changed shifts so he is making less hours. I was suppose to be working more but that got put on hold. I'm just praying and I know GOD will work it out. I'm pushing to get this done so we can buy our house the first of the year. I can take off work now before the mortgage comes in. Lol

This is all new for me...
MrsYoungJr replied to MrsYoungJr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for your kind words. I have had people tell me bad things already and not even encourage me to do what I think is right. workout they say, or what are you eating. It had been 365 plus days and I'm still in the same place I was in last year. Thinking about weight loss surgery. It must be a reason. My dad told me if I would have already done it last year I would already be reaping the benefits. I never thought of it like that. But i really wanted to try it myeslf. Back were I was but moving forward. -

Excited To Be Making Some Progress On This Journey!

My name is Sharon. I also live in TN. I was wondering who you talked to about the surgery to get your information. I am 5'3 with a bmi of 62. I have been trying to workout but my body hurts my knees mostly. They told me I have arthritis and maybe that is why I'm having a hard time working out. They also said I have high blood pressure. I have been over weight for sometime as long as I can remember. I'm ready for a change. I want to maybe get the sleeve because it is as close to staying in one peace as I can get. Thanks for any input you can give.
