Hey Leatha -- Happy belated Birthday to YOU!!! I hope you had a great day!

Happy Birthday Babs!!! You are doing so great! I know that platues are disappointing and frustrating and just plain 'NOT FAIR'... BUT you really should give yourself more credit. You have lost over 100lbs and that is FANTASTIC!!! WHOOO HOOOOO! I had set some goals for my 39th as well (my b-day is in May) and I didn't reach them, but you know what... tomorrow is a new day and hey by this time next year you will most likely be celebrating your birthday at GOAL! Take care, enjoy your day and celebrate! :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny

Hi Alex, Getting a personal trainer has been one of the best things I have ever done for my health. It was more than 8 years ago, but it gave me the motivation and encouragement I needed to begin enjoying and looking forward to working out. I may not have the body to show that I work out 4-5 days a week, but I am so much stronger than I ever use to be and when my band kicks in, I know that my working out is going to help me shed the pounds quicker. The best part was that my personal trainer back then is still my personal trainer (and darling boyfriend) now!!! :D He really pushes me to push my self and he doesn't let my whining and fussing get in the way of the workout. I have learned proper technique and form, how to focus on the muscles and breath right. I have also learned how to spot heavy lifters and I shock the big boys in the gym when I can spot my man while he is bench pressing 300lbs. I would recommend at least a couple of sessions and then maybe pick-up Muscle & Fitness Hers every once in a while for some extra tips to keep you motivated. This magazine is catered towards serious body builders, but I like the weight training tips and pictures of how to do each exercise. Weight Training for Dummies is also a good book. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Hi Rica, I don't recall, so can you remind us what type of band you have? Is it the LapBand (holds 4cc's) or the Swedish Band (holds more, I think about 11cc's, but I cannot remember for sure)? If you have the LapBand, then I would say that 3 cc's sounds a bit aggressive, but if the doc is doing this under Floro, he/she should be able to see whether it closes you off or not. My doc does not do normal fills under floro and she starts w/ 1cc in a LapBand and only goes up by .5 every 6 weeks. BUT, this is just my doc. I have heard of other LapBand patients that start w/ more of a fill and get to their sweet spots a lot faster. If you have one of the bands that holds more saline, then 3 cc's is probably a good starting point. Just make sure your doc has you drink Water before you leave and remember you band rules when you first start back on solids and I am sure you will handle it like a champ. I hope this helps. Good Luck:D

Wow Penni! You look wonderful and you are doing a great job! I love to hear about everyone's successes. I wish you a quick recovery from your recent surgery and more success in the near future. :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny :banana :Bunny -
Mine is on the right hand side about 2 inches above my waist. if my doc has to replace my band due to a leak, she said she was going to move it more towards my side, but in the same general area. She has had many problems accessing my port, having to stick me multiple times, even under floro. It is stitched in place, but she thinks all my exercising has caused it to tilt w/ my 6-pack!!! Who would of thought... me with a 6 pack! Too bad there is about 5 inches of FAT covering it. HA!

Welcome Minda! Please tell us more about your band experience? I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do. The folks here are very helpful, encouraging and just really NICE people!!! Glad you found us.

Congrats on the 4lbs. It is really nice when we can avoid the scale for a few days and come back to it with a nice surprise. It's that time of the month for me, so I am avoiding the scale like it’s the plague. I know your 4lbs probably made their way to me! Keep up the great work!

Hi Penni, I will be thinking about you. I hope everything goes great and without a hitch! Oh and don't forget your drool rag! We wouldn't want you making a mess of that lovely hospital gown;) Take care and let us know how it went once you are up to it.

Thanks everyone, I will keep you all posted.

Hi Dallas, I am sorry that I don't have any info to help you... but maybe some of the responses thus far will help you in your research. Hi Vera, Thank you for sharing... I am sure none of us had any idea and you are so open about what you have been through. I am glad that doctors were able to provide you with relief and also that you were still a candidate for the Band. Congratulations on your successes!
-
Yeah Jennye's BACK!!! Now if we can get Bright to check in, I will see all the folks that originally helped me start my Band journey. You have been missed, but it sounds like you were very busy. I hope your Mom is doing better and that your sister isn't making things tough on you still. Tell us all about your new house... please? Glad your back, now don't lurk again:D

Hi Sissyfaye, Congratulations on your progress, you are doing great! I am probably not the best person to give advise on fills, but I will say that if by chance you don't feel much different after this first fill... don't get frustrated or too disappointed. It often takes multiple fills over time to get to a level of restriction that helps you continue losing weight consistently over time. But, here's to your first fill... you are well on your way!

Welcome to the forum! I hope you get as much out of this site at I do. The folks here are WONDERFUL!!!!

The Bionic Woman -- that would be Jaime Sommers as played by Lindsay Wagner. Any other trivia you wanna throw my way???? This is FUN!

I ordered it too and agree is it much better than the online version. Now, all I have to do is get 'religious' like Alex and use it regularly:guess

Hi Claraluz & Alex, I heard about this being used in a leaking band on another site. That person mentioned that it is the same contrasting Fluid they inject into the bands when checking under floro for a leak. The abbreviated name is Omni, I cannot remember the full name. Anyway, this other person said that she referred to it as 'fix a flat' and her doctor said it was something like that, but she had to sign a release form before the doctor could use this vs. saline. Not sure what the form releases the doctor from, but maybe if it causes some damage to the band over time the doc cannot be help responsible. I told my doc about it and she is emailing Inamed to ask them about it. I will keep you all in the loop. Right now, my doc is on vacation for 2 weeks, so it might be a while before I hear anything new. Thanks again for all the support.

Michelle, you are shrinking away!!! :D I am so happy for you. You went through so much when you were having issues with your restriction. I am so glad that you are on your way and doing a wonderful job. Keep sending us the updates. I love to see how you are doing!

Welcom Blossom, I hope you enjoy this great group of people as much as I do. Good luck and I hope you are banded really soon.

Since my new uncontrollable 'past time' is BURBING (Boy is it embarrassing :nervous), my darling BF has taken the liberty of naming my band – Berpitha. He unfortunately has been caught in the down wind too many times. I thought I was being discreet, but I think Berpitha wants her presence KNOWN!!!
-
Hi Debra, My thoughts are with you. I hope you are doing well and feeling better really soon. Please keep us informed on your progress. Take Care,
-
Good Luck Janis. You have found a great group of very knowledgable and supportive people. We will be looking forward to hearing how your Banding experience goes as well as to help you get through any rough spots and help you Celebrate your successes. Take Care, everything will work out fine.

Hi Denise, Sorry to hear about your husband's band slippage, but I am glad to hear that you had your's loosened a bit. You don't want to take any chances with your health over quick weightloss vs. a positive good experience with the band and maybe a slower weight loss. Take care and keep us updated on your husband's band.
