So, I go in tomorrow morning at 7a.m.!!! I'm really starting to get nervous now. I have confidence in my surgical team and more importantly, in GOD, that I"ll be just fine but still have the jitters. I know that's normal. But wondering what to expect after surgery. Will I REALLY feel sore? Just so many things going on in my mind but I know by this time tomorrow I'll be banded and on my way to a healthier, skinnier, me. Don't know if I'll feel ok to get on here tomorrow but can't wait to share my experience later this week. Prayers are appreciated from all:)

Aug. 23rd is my day!!! Just got the call that my insurance approved!!!!! UGH!!!!! Excited and scared!!!!

So I had my final pre-op appt. yesterday before my sugery next Thursday, the 23rd, and I have lost 11lbs. since July 2!!!!!!! I was so excited and very emotional!!! I couldn't believe it! It really makes this liquid diet and the exercise all worth it. Gives me motiviation to continue on. However, my mother and my friend both asked that since I could lose on my own if I was still going to go forward w/ getting the band. I, of course, told them YES because that tool will only help me. The main reason I lost was due to liquid diet. I still need that tool to tell me when I'm full and to help. Still ecstatic over the 11lbs It felt amazing getting on the scale. Never felt that before when getting on the scale. Usually numbers went up or stayed the same but never DOWN!!!! Ahhhhhhh I can do this!!!

From the album: Before
My son and I taken 7/21/12 at Mother/Son luncheon at church. -
So day 3 of my pre-op diet and I think I'm having carb/sugar withdrawls. This morning as I was at my little blender from GNC mixing up my unjury strawberry Protein shake, I started getting all woozy and shakey and clammy. I had to sit down for a few minutes. I think my blood sugar is low due to not having anything other than shakes and 2 boiled eggs and 1/2 cup unsweeted applesauce for the past 2 days. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this on the pre-op diet? I get banded Aug. 23 and at least this experience will be over with and out of the way so when I'm post op I wont have to deal with that also. Any feedback is appreciated.

My dr. doesn't require a pre-op diet but wanted to do one anyway to ensure a less fatty liver and ensure a smooth procedure. So I've been doing protein shake for breakfast and lunch and the first night did chicken broth but last night decided I would do still no sugar/carbs and ate dinner of 1/2 c unsweetened applesauce and a boiled egg and a grilled piece of pork w/ no bbq sauce.

Pre-Op And I Am A Hungry, Hungry Hippo!
missymobaby replied to BeeBlueHeron's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am being banded Aug. 23. I started my pre-op yesterday. My dr. doesn't require it but I felt it be in my best interest to do it anyway to ensure a smooth procedure. So while I'm trying to stick to all liquids; protein shakes, broth, water w/ Crystal Light, sf jello and popsicles I did eat a boiled egg last night. Still no carbs so that wasn't so bad especially since I am not REQUIRED to do the pre-op diet. But I am SO hungry (mostly head hunger) and want to sink my teeth into some meat!!! -
Im being banded Aug. 23. Im starting my self imposed liquid diet today. My dr. doesnt require a liquid pre op diet but im gonna do one any way just to ensure no complications of a fatty liver. Wish me luck!!!!

Yes, I only have used Unjury so far. I like it. I can usually drink it no problems but for some reason today I'm having a problem choking my first one down. I know it's all in my head. Gotta get over that.

Congrats on your approval!!! I get banded Aug. 23. My dr. doesn't require a pre-op diet either but I am choosing to do it anyway just so there will be no complications and I can shrink my liver (the whole reason behind a pre-op diet). In my mind I feel like I need to do it. Good luck on your endeavor:)

So I'm not banded yet (go in 8/23 ) and trying to chew chew chew chew and take small bites and not drink while eating. I'm doing decent on the chewing and small bites but the not drinking anything while eating is HARD ! I am SO used to doing it and don't even realize when I'm reaching over to grab my drink (even though it just water) after several bites!! I'm currently eating my lunch and want a drink SO stinking bad. I haven't had one yet but I'll be counting down the minutes til 30 minutes after last bite for a big gulp! Does anyone have any suggestions for tips on this? I can't think of any.

August 1...today Menu/exercise Plan
missymobaby commented on Kekeboo's blog entry in Kekeboo's Blog Menu
Not sure about any of the other stuff since I'm not banded yet (aug. 23) but the Lipton Diet Mixed Berry Green tea is SOOOO yummy. I buy it all the time now and that's all I drink besides water w/ Crystal Light. I've now cut out all soda from my diet and haven't had soda in almost a month. I'm not even missing it. I love the tea!!!! -
Liquid Diet + Upcoming Family Reunion = Pressure
missymobaby commented on missymobaby's blog entry in missymobaby's Blog
yeah, I'm planning on taking a couple shakes and lots of water (w/ Crystal Light). Would watermelon be ok on the liquid diet? Regardless of the reunion, I still want options. I mean, watermelon does have the word "WATER" in it right! LOL I'll do broths at home and shakes and sf popsicles and sf jello but I know I will just want to sink my teeth into something. Everyone's version of their pre-op diet is different, some got to eat lean meats and veggies and others are strictly liquids. Since my dr. doesn't require this pre-op I don't know which is best and what do to. I just want to ensure less complications at surgery. -
Liquid Diet + Upcoming Family Reunion = Pressure
missymobaby posted a blog entry in missymobaby's Blog
So I get banded on Aug. 23 and my dr. doesn't require a pre-op liquid diet but I'm doing it anyway just to ensure liver reduction and less complications there. My problem is that my family reunion is on Aug. 19, right in the midst of my liquid diet I LOVE eating at the reunion all the good food my family members bring. I plan on taking a couple protein shakes with me (Unjury all the way) but don't know what else I should take to ensure that I stay focused being around all that food. Is unsweetened apple sauce ok? Any suggestions would be helpful. It's outside so I don't have access to a microwave for broth and it will be hot out. Please help becuse I feel I will cave around all that food and I don't want to. When Is It Safe To Start Back Having Sex?
missymobaby replied to Motivated1's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm glad someone else asked because I was wondering the exact same thing. LOL -
Rachel I also have Anthem BCBS and I had no co-morbidities and my BMI was also like 45 or 46 and I got approved. I live in Indiana, though that shouldn't matter. As long as you go to all the appointments and do what the dr. says and they can show that in the write-up to Anthem, you should be good to go! I know what you mean by being overwhelmed and stuff, I was too. Still am actually, because I get banded on Aug. 23 and I'm a huge bundle of joy, nerves, scared, etc. Good luck though, I'm sure it will be approved. Missy

Well, just got the call and my insurance has approved my surgery!!!!! I'm scheduled for Aug. 23rd. It's very REAL now and I'm starting to get nervous, anxious, scared, and second guessing myself. Is this normal? Also, my dr. doesn't require the 2 week pre-op liquid diet but i think I'm going to do it for 1 week prior just to be on the safe side and also to get myself prepared for the liquid diet after. Prayers and encouraging words are appreciated here!!!
