Post Op Day 4! Feeling A Ok!
LDallas replied to healthiermom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, my surg was thurs 10/25. Went fine...until i got to my room. Dry heaved blood frm 1pm to 3 am. Nothing stopped it. They had to call emerg docs to come to my room. I thought i was dying. Barfing every 20 mins all that time. Then it went to 2 hrs, then 3, then 6... The dr said surg blood supposed to go out the other end, and if gets into upper GI its severe. Ummm yes it is. So came home sat afternoon. Tire easily. Getting in foods etc ok. But milky stuff making me run to restroom. Hubby is on his way to buy lactaid milk right now. Oh, and right shoulder hurts like hell, what is remedy for this??? Dr thinks its gas pain. Incisions ok, one upper right pulling, looks too tight and dimpled. Get them out friday. But the wt is falling off! Take care u guys. -
You did your photo montage beautifully. Thanks for sharing. You look amazing!

My surg is oct 25. Today at Target i bought 4 - 4oz baby containers, pack of tiny spoons and forks (brand was Take n Toss) Also new measuring cups and a 24 oz water bottle. They only had one type with ounces marked on the side. It was $11.99 Also got Biotin and sublingual B-12. Zinc was on sale but they were out. Made a trip thru men's dept and bought 2xl sweat pants for hospital. I'm NOT a man, and couldn't help but think "these wont fit long!!!"thank goodness!!! Should be the last time i buy anything for ME, in mens dept!!

My surg is oct 25. I told hubby, brother, and two BFF. Perhaps later i will "announce" but for now, that's the extent of the telling. Reason? I don't want to be the poster child for VSG..answering questions, explaining the pre ond post op stuff over and over ..i've been a wt loss failure my entire life, maybe at this too...since i'm pre op there's still room to change my mind...most everyone i know is very physically fit and i dont want a barage of suggestions and work out routines (trying to persuade me out of vsg)...i'm sort of new to my town, and i dont want to explain to all these new friends how i've struggled with weight my ENTIRE LIFE. These are just conversations i dont feel like having. The entire process is overwhelming on it's own without this added dimension. These are MY reasons. Maybe afterwards i'll be VSG GIRL and tell anyone who'll listen. Hope this gives you a different perspective on the "non tellers"!

Blab To Everyone, Or "close To The Vest?"
LDallas replied to ArcusX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told hubby of course, my brother, and two besties that live 1500 mi away. I'm nervous about what i'll say as the wt drops. Normally i tell everything!!! Too much!! But this is different. Reasons....what if i chg my mind, what if i fail, dont want to answer a bunch of questions, dnt want to explain i have battled a lifetime of obesity...maybe later i'll chg my mind but right now not planning on telling anyone else. -
If You Need A Diet To Follow Post-Op
LDallas replied to MDM0927's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you so much! It's very organized and concise. I truly appreciate your post!!! -
Hi, i am sch for 10/25 and have a few questions, if you don't mind. 1). What did your pre op appt entail? Meaning...i have to go next wk for Pre Op testing for anesthesiology. The lady said they'd do a blood test, then mentioned i'd be there two hours!! 2). Down the road, can u have caffeine/fizzy drinks? 3). Can you drink normally after a while... instead of tiny sips? Thank you!

Thank you for the replies! Very helpful...calmed me down!!

Just curious if you told them your weight. I go for first meeting with surgeon next week...(finished with all preliminaries, after appt they submit to insurance). Anyway, while ago i received a computerized message confirming my appt, and it said ," remember to bring your support person". Huh? First i've heard of that!! And of course the ofc is closed now so i can't call them. I suppose my "support person" is my husband, and i'm quietly hyperventilating at the idea of him walking back there with me and seeing the number on the scale!!!! Eeeeeek!

Does Your Spouse Or So Know Your Weight?
LDallas replied to LDallas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mina...how joyous to make that call to your dad! My parents are both gone now, but i think they'd approve. My dad's saying was"no risk, no reward"! Sleevenn...i totally understand about the vacation thing. Ugh! After my prev marriage ended, i told the ex that i never went to see his parents only because i didnt think i could fit in an airplane seat. He was shocked at this information. He thought i just didnt like them (half true) LOL! PEvette.....your story was heartwarming and inspirational. So far i told two besties, that live 1500 mi from me...my bro and his family and hubby. It's funny because i am the queen of TMI!! But not re the surg. We'll see how long it lasts. -
