  1. So I had my surgery on April 26, 2012. My first fill was June 11. The day I went in for the fill the doctor was able to get the Fluid in the port but was unable to take it out. He had injected 5cc which was too much. So of course I got sick and threw up right after drinking the barium. Howrver he was unable to take it out. So he called the dr that preformed my surgery and explained. The doctor said I need to get up move around, wait 15 min and he would try again and sure enough that did the trick. He took 1cc out which worked great for the first few weeks... Shortly after I was back to having very little restriction. This morning I went in for my 2nd fill. They had the same issue again!! This time the doctor doing the fill attempted to remove the fluid that was already in me. He couldnt. So he said he refused to fill me as he feared the same thing that happened last time would happen again and I would get sick/obstructed an an emergency would be required. He advised me to call my dr Monday morning and see what he suggests but most likely I'll require a follow up surgery to fix the port. I am honestly just so frustrated at this point. I've lost 20 pounds but I've also been eating healthier and exercising. Most times I don't even feel like I have the band because I have so little restriction. My question is has anyone else had this issue?? A one way port that made it difficult or impossible to get the fills? What steps were needed to correct it? If follow up surgery was required how did it go? How long was recovery? Please help!!!
  2. I thank you all so much for your answers a needed a bit of stern reality and encouragement. I know I can do this. I'm a very strong person in all facets of my life other than my eating/food control but I just need to realize this is my health and it's very serious. I want to be healthy more than anything.
  3. Thank you soooo much!
  4. I'm still on the liquids (full liquids) and like I said I do great until dinner when the mental hunger kicks in. By no means am I eating FULL meals or even snacking on junk. The main thing was that slice of pizza and the little nibbles. I'm STILL having guilt from that pizza and that was days ago. Which plants the negative bugs that "oh you weren't ready p this new life" "you can't do it right now" "just have a TASTE of that and you'll be ok" I know I need to have restraint for health reasons. I don't want to mess this up or have a slip down the line. I wish I felt the way I did a few days post op when I COULDN'T eat anything :/ I plan to use this weekend to make at least 3 new Soups to freeze and eat on through out the week and xplan out a few full liquid diet menus. Thanks for the words of wisdom!
  5. PLEASE DON'T READ IF YOU ARE PRE-OP OR NEWLY BANDED I DO NOT WANT TO DISCOURAGE ANYONE!!! Okay I'm 9 days post op & I'm doing okay but I have to vent. Please don't judge me as I'm feeling guilty enough as it is. I REALLY need some support right now. Ok Physically I'm feeling great! I have very little soreness left and have tons of energy. My total weight loss included 5 day liquid diet before surgery and post op has been 11 pounds. I'm very excited but I know I could have lost more. here's why: I have discovered I can eat food. I can drink and eat at the same time and I can tolerate most things. It all started about 5 days post op. my son was eating chicken strips and fries for dinner. I had my typical post op creamy Soup and for some reason I wanted just a bite of something different! I chewed one of the fries and a VERY small piece of one of the chicken strips. I was so scared but you know what I tolerated it! That led to other nibbles here and there and finally on Tuesday a WHOLE slice of cheese pizza. For Breakfast and lunch I do so well with my liquids but by dinner I just want FOOD. I'm do disappointed in my self and I just dont want to fail. Why am I able to eat?? That was the whole point of the surgery. I know I need will power but if that was something I had then I wouldn't have gotten the surgery. After eating more than a few bites of something I actually HOPED I would get sick so that would let me know to stop but I didnt and that edges my little hunger demon on even more. Anyone have similar issues or suggestions?? Please don't tell me I'm the only one & Please positive comments only. I already feel bad enough :/

    Surgery In The Morning

Hey all! Thank you for all your posts and support. I'm doing okay but I have to vent. Please don't judge me as I'm feeling guilt as it is. I REALLY need some support right now. 7. I know how you feel. I'm a week post op and ashamed to admit some of the slip ups I've had. I cannot wait to have a fill!! I'm getting hungry and the mushies just aren't cutting it for me. I have a constant guilty feeling for some of things Ive nibbled on including a slice of pizza. I spit it out but I'm still just sooooo disappointed in my self. I'm also moarning all the foods I will no longer be able to eat. I need more support. My family just doesn't get it. :/

  9. Wow our story is soooo similar. I was banded 4/26 and thought I gained too but the weight since surgery has been coming off so fast. Obviously because we can barely eat but still. I've lost a pound a day and started at 265 before 5 day liquid diet. Now I'm at 255 I cant wait to see the 230's which I literally haven't seen in about 3 years!! Whoooo we can do it! I'm so excited
  10. I had my surgery 4/26/12. I'm a case manager at a non for profit so obviously a desk job. I was supposed to go back today but with two kids being home all weekend I didn't get much of a recovery time. I'm taking today as a rest/prep day and going in tomorrow. I plan to rest a bit, get my nails done, hair done, an at home facial, and get my clothes out for the rest of the week. I made my hubby call off too (hehehe) so he could help me. I haven't been pampered much as he was busy tending to the little ones but they'll be in daycare today.

    4 Days Post Op

I'm 3 days post op and I'm so glad you posted this question. Cant wait to see the other answers. Especially those that are a few weeks post op. I have the same feeling and I worry that my port is going to bust or I'll pop my muscle or something as weird as it sounds. The pain does get better everyday. I'm only using pain meds midday and before bedtime now. I just want to be "all better" for some reason I didn't think recovery from this surgery would be this rough :/ but on the positive side everyday we'll get stronger as the days go by and were on our way to healthy weights. Whoop whoop The best is yet to come good luck hun!!
