3 Months On The 9/25 56 Lbs Down
Stae replied to Kansas1965's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look great!!!! Congratulations! -
I was sleeved on June 26th. The begining of catching up on all the living that I have been missing out on. I have to say that I have really not had any complications. I was in a little bit of pain on my right side for a couple of weeks. Mainly hurt when I got in and out of bed. I am able to eat pretty much anything. I don't, but what I have tried has been fine. My NUT suggests one cheat day a week. Always the same day. I do that. Sunday is my day. The best thing is that even though I am not eating healthy food, I can only have a few bites so no harm. I have lost 50 pounds so far. I will never get tired of everyone telling me how great I look and asking me how much weight I have lost. I am enjoying going shopping for new clothes. The weight came off so fast that I actually missed out on wearing some of my "skinny clothes" because by the time I dug them out they were too big. I have become addicted to the gym. I actually miss it if I can't go for whatever reason. Luckily mine is open 24 hours a day. It is not out of the question to be there at 11PM. Last night I was there and it was like a ghost town. I was running on the tread mill and looked over and saw myself in the mirror. I could not believe that was me!! I know people around me thought I was crazy because I got this huge smile on my face. I still have a ways to go, but I looked normal for a change. I could finally see how much I had changed. I think it was the angle. I look at myself in the mirror every day, but for some reason I finally saw all my hard work paying off. What a blessing. It pushed me to work twice as hard. I have set a few goals for myself. 1. I am going to travel to Maryland in November for my best friend's baby shower. (I have not been back in 5 years) I really want to be down another 20 pounds. I know I can do it. 2. My daughter is a freshman in HS and she plays softball. I want to be in onederland by the time games start in February. I can't wait to order a shirt for her team that is not extra because I need a 2 or 3X. I will take a large please!!! For anyone thinking about getting this surgery... I know it is a personal decision. I had never had surgery before. My husband told me that when I got into the operating room, the anesthesiologis would tell me when he was putting me under. As I was rolled down the hall, I really thought that I was going to back out. I was just too scared. Lucky for me he did not give me the chance. I don't even remember getting into the room. Just being in recovery. For me I feel like it has saved my life. I know that I will be able to live a long healthy life. Happily sleeved.... Stacy

Great Job. I am working up to my first one. I cannot wait to accomplish it.

Day three was bad for me too, but I pushed through the pain and really worked on trying to walk around the house. I would take my pain medicine and walk for 10 minutes in the house and then nap because the meds made me tired. It really helped though. I took the meds every 4 hours and did not skip even if I did not feel any pain I was able to walk a lot and on day 4 I felt a million times better. Keep your chin up. My life has changed so much in just two months and I will never regret this. Feel better and get ready to really start living!!!

Congratulations!!! You will be so happy.

I am so excited. I am two weeks out and officially down 20 pounds. I am so excited. My pre-op weight was 306 and today I stepped on the scale at 286!!!! So excited. I start in the gym next week. Can't wait to see the pounds fall off when I really start moving. Yay me!!!

I am 9 days post op and my daughter has a softball tournament out of town this weekend. It is the first one since my surgery. In the past, we would snack the whole weekend. My family still is. We have only been in the hotel for an hour and I don't think my husband has put down the Snacks. We even stopped at Buccees on the way here and got my favorite beaver nuggets. I don't want to sabatoge my progress, but it is so hard to sit here while they are all snacking. Any encouragement / advice would be helpful. Thank you!

When Did You Try A Cheese Stick? Im 11 Days Post Op And Im Craving Something?
Stae replied to Karen2012's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am 9 days out and light string cheese is on my list of approved foods. I have it for one of my three meals. -
I got it at wal-mart in the pharmacy section. It was with the other Protein drinks.
-
LOL. I know it shounds weird. They are kind of like corn pops, but better and much worse for you. They are covered with butter and cinamon. Soooo gooooood.
-
I agree with everyone else about the carbs. I tried the Special K Protein drinks (pink lemonade) and it was awesome. I was almost doing cartwheels I was so excited to find something that I could drink. It really had no after taste and really just tasted like pink lemonade. They have 0 fat, 6 carbs and 0 sugars and 5 Proteins. I know that this is not so much protein, but i figure at least I am getting some in. I actually add some unflavored to it to give me a little bit more and it really does not change the taste. At least I am getting some more protein. I was having a heck of a time getting any in other than from food. Good luck!

Well.... I did it. Surgery went off without a hitch. My entire family was there for me before surgery. My hubby, daughter, mom and dad. I loved all of the support. I don't remmeber a thing. I literally was rolled into the OR and the next thing that I remember is the nurse waking me up in recovery. Within a few minutes they were rolling me down the hall to my room. I noticed my parents in the waiting room (I was still in and out of it) and the nurse told me that the rest of my family was in my room. I was very drousy the rest of the afternoon. I got to my room at about 4:00. My husband, daughter and dad left at about 8 to go home. My wonderful mom stayed the night with me. I really would not have survived this without her. She got me up and walking as soon as she new that I was really awake. I was not in much pain at that point. I was super thirsty. The first night felt like an eternity. I just wanted to have something to drink. I probably slept about 4 hours that night. I walked a lot. The gas pains were not as bad as I thought. It kind of felt hard to breathe because of the gas, but once I got into the recliner that was much better. The doctor came in at about 8 on Thursday. He cleared me for liquids. YAY!!!! I was never so happy to drink a little water. I sipped all day. Even had a little broth and jello to go with it. The day went pretty quickly. I was really looking forward to going home. I walked and started having some pain in my right side. I am still having the pain, but I am looking forward to it going away. I got the all clear to go home around 1 on Friday after I took the drink test to check for leaks. My husband brought the recliner down from upstairs and that has been where I hang out between walks around the house. I went upstairs to sleep the first night, but it was so hard to get in and out of the bed that I decided that night two would be better served in the recliner. I slept really well. I am still in quite a bit of pain in my right side, but I am trying to work through it. The pain is only when I am up and moving. I think maybe I should have been moving more to prevent the pain. If it is not better tomorrow, I will call to doctor to make sure that there is nothing to worry about. I am working on getting all of my fluids in. That is a little hard. I just keep drinking as much as I can. Sip sip sip.... All day long. LOL. It is weird how I am not hungry at all. My husband is worried that I am not eating even though he knows the rules. I think that it is just weird to him. Good luck to everyone. I go back to the doctor on the 5th. I will post my progress at that point. Hoping for a big loss.

I was sleeved on Wednesday June 27th. I did pretty good in the hospital, but I do have a lot of pain in my right side. I keep reading about pain in the left side, but mine is in the right side. It kind of feels like a pulling burning sensation, but only when I am up and walking around. the pain seems to be on the inside. I can touch the outside of my stomach and it does not hurt at all. Has anyone else felt this? Pain medicine does not really help. I feel great everywhere else. I am really hoping that this will pass quickly. I am ready to be up and moing around a lot more.

Thank you everyone. I got up and walke a little bit a few minutes ago and the pain was not as sharp. I am hoping that means that the pain is starting to go away. I will keep you all posted. The support on this site is so awesome! Good luck everyone.

I am so excited and scared. Tomorrow at 11AM I go to the hospital for my sleeve. I have never had surgery before. My new life begins on June 27th. I have to say that I cannot wait to be able to actually chew food again. I feel like soft foods are just around the corner. I have done pretty well on my pre-op diet. I have not stepped on a scale, but I will find out how I did tomorrow. 306 pounds is a thing of the past. I am ready to be a huge loser. Thank you to everyone on the hundreds of posts that I have read. You all have inspired me and helped me know that this tool is what I need to do for myself. I love hearing what everyone else has been through. I really look forward to sharing all of my success with each of you. Wish me luck!!!

I had my pre-op appointment today. I am starting to get excited. I weighed in at 306 today. I love knowing that it is all down from here. My mom went with me today and I think that she feels a lot better now that she got to go to the class and met the surgeon. I know that she is worried about her little girl, but she knows that I need to do this to get healthy. So I am less than one week away from my big day. June 27th at 1PM I show up to change my life. I have started making a list of what to take to the hospital with me. I will pack my bag this weekend. I have to work on Monday and Tuesday, but then I am off for almost three weeks. I hope to go back to work much lighter.

Well it finally happened and so quickly. I got a call yesterday that my surgery is going to be a week away. All of a sudden this is so real. I immediately turned to all of the blogs and posts to put my mind at ease. The funny thing is that my surgery will be on the same day that my daughter gets her braces off. I have never in my life had any kind of surgery. Don't get me wrong. I am totally ready for my life to start. My mom is awesome. She is going to come with me to my pre-op appointment. She will be there to take care of me afterwards as well. I am so lucky that she is here to support me. I will post my weight and everything after my appointment. Any tips on protein shakes. I am having a hard time drinking those things. YUCK!!! Wish me luck... more later.....
