Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
mmorral replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Disneyland was AWESOME!!! I got 3 hours of walking in because the park was so crowded due to Grad Night, but I didn't care. I wasn't sure how the meal planning was going to go. I had breakfast at home. I also took a few snacks with me ( cottage cheese, light string cheese, crackers with peanut butter on them) I was so surprised how well they are at accommodating me. I had a chicken taco with no lettuce off the kid's menu. I asked for beans instead of rice. I was barley able to get through the taco. I also found that in Tomorrow land I could have had a "power pack" which has yogurt, string cheese, and crackers. ( they had apples in it too but I would give that to my son). My husband told me to go on Sunday if I would like. I might think about it to get more calories burned. I hope that everyone else is have a great Memorial Day weekend. -
Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Linkybo, My NUT gave me the following tips 1. She says to work towards 2000 calories burned in 2 months and when I see her in July we will work towards 3000 2. Even though I am still in the meat only stage - lean ground beef, turkey, chicken stage; I can work in my veggies as a sauce to spice up my proteins. 3. I should be around 800 calories daily. They are not worried so much about the calories as long as it doesn't go over 1200, but there are ways to give you more for your buck. She gave me a tip of dividing the protein per ounce and the calories per ounces. This way I can judge what will give me the best calories but the most protein. For example. 3 oz of shrimp was 100 calories but 21 grams of protein. So for every ounce it is 4.7 calories and 9 grams of protein for every ounce. 4. Count on a milk product like yogurt to have at least 12 - 14 grams of sugar and that is okay, I have to be careful with the added flavoring. I hope that this is helpful. I thought she gave a lot of tips I could use. I was also told that I was eating too much at one time. I need to slow down and count on just 2 - 3 oz not try to get to 4 and I will train my new stomach to be satisfied with that instead of needing more after the honeymoon phase is over -
Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

So today was my 1 month post - op. I was a little nervous. I know that I have all of your support here; but every doctor is different and I wasn't sure if I was doing how they wanted me to do it. Officially, I am 33.4 pounds lost since surgery. Great! one thing to celebrate. I was told that I am taking this as I should and getting in everything that I needed. The NUT told me that she wants me to work up to 2000 calories burned in a week for exercise and I should be about 800 - 850 calories a day. They asked me to split my meals up so that I am not eating so many ounces in one sitting. I will have to start planning a little better. She was a great help in showing me how to make sure that I am getting more for the buck when it came to protein so I am not wasting the calories. All and all it was a great day. To reward my weight loss I went and had a manicure and eyebrow wax. I have to look great for when I go back to work on Tuesday. Tomorrow I should burn some more calories. I am off to Disneyland with my son. A little fun to treat and test myself. I will let everyone know how my meal planning went I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend. -

Protein Shakes, Yuck!
mmorral replied to MKambalimath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand. I can't stand any protein shakes after surgery. I have been doing the protein shots or Isopure. They Isopure I have been dividing it up as I need the extra protein. For example, Isopure has 40 grams of protein in a 20 oz bottle. So for every 5 oz you get 10 grams of protein -
Of course talk to your doctor, but my doctor told me it is okay to take some Midol and some of the Excedrins as long as it doesn't have ibuprofen in it

Good Luck going back to work. I know that you will do just fine as long as you listening to your body. I am 4 wks post op and I hit a stall. I agree that it is only a minor set back. It took me 10 years to get to my HW and it is going to be a lot sooner to come off with the help of my tool

OMG!!! I thought I was the only one. I am going to the OB/GYN on Friday and explore my options of birth control. My husband is still shy about it all because he feels too soon after surgery, but I just told him battery "bob" will have to take his place for awhile.

"there Is Not A Downside To Weight Loss Through Bariatric Surgery,"
mmorral replied to nabird77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for posting... The article is talking about my life. At my highest weight I would get my period maybe once every 90 days and if I go beyond that I had to take medicine to start my period. I have PCOS which I was insulin resistant, was growing hair on my chin and toes, hormone imbalance, not able to get pregnant even with the help of medications, and difficulty losing weight. My OB / GYN was the one that suggested I might want to consider getting help on the weight and to help with the insulin issues. I am 4 weeks out from surgery and already had my 1st period. Guess what?, my cycle was for the first time in a long time, 30 days. I agreed my my surgeon that I would wait 18 months before trying to conceive. He told me that he wants me to be selfish and learn now to adjust to my sleeve, make and perfect my new habits, and love me before taking care of another life. -
I look worse than the model as well. I hope that my skin tightens so it isn't too hanging. I am following all the tips to help

Thanks... this was a great way to visualize

How Can You Tell If You Have A Leak
mmorral posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tonight my left side started to hurt. It is not painful; it just hurts like I did a lot of sit ups. However if I push on that side of my stomach; it hurts I have been burping quite a bit so I don't know if it is gas pain. I don't have any gas x on me Any suggestions -
I agree.. slower is better. It is less risk of bad breath, hair loss, and other things that can happen when you lose weight too fast

When Does The Pain Stop Entirely?
mmorral replied to mommyinneed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would talk to the doctor. I didn't have much pain until tonight. Throwing up is not fun or good -
My husband laughs because I now have a blanket on when I am sitting on the coach. I am also the one that never has socks on and I can't live without them now. I rather dress in layers than not lose the weight

Its Been....three Weeks!
mmorral replied to Sergeant_Hotsauce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mushy food was the hardest for me to get in all my Protein in and Water in as well. I still relied on my Protein drinks to get me in protein for 1 to 2 of my requirement and then tried to get the water the rest of the time. Once you get to meat eating; it gets a whole lot better. Give yourself time. I was on mushy food for 10 days before I moved on. -

Having A Panic Attack..
mmorral replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree... STOP WORRYING!! If your doctor really thought it was issue on the blood clots, he would have sent you home with a series of shots to avoid it. My BMI was above 50 so my doctor gave me 7 day post op of blood thinner shots just to make sure. I have had 4 surgeries prior to being sleeved and had no issues. Relax and know that you are doing everything right. -

I had a vivid dream the other day and it scared me. I dreamed that I went back to my old habits and was eating a candy bar. It was so vivid that I could swear that I could taste it. I woke up upset and hunted the house for wrappers. (none were found) Previously that I have had a few about family. I never been able to remember my dreams until after sleeved. I wonder if it is all Protein we are giving our brains??

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

I experienced it once and I did eat too fast. I too had to get up and walk Also, when I went to my support group and was told that potatoes are one of those things that are tricky because they can be dense and doesn't take much to feel full. I had a potato and cheese Soup and it went down okay. It didn't take much to get full though. I can relate when it is said that our dollars are stretched after being sleeved. I too can not do Peanut Butter. It was way too dense for me. Monday I move on to shrimp, ground beef, lunch meat, cheese and chicken. I am excited. I went to the store to buy supplies and found so much and know it is going to last me quite a while, so my grocery bill is going down -
Keep the faith, you will get through it. You will see the other side and be so happy
