    Not Losing Weight

Try mixing 8 oz of milk with 8 oz of water and drink three of them instead of your usual six. Serve them real cold, and I bet you could keep them down. Good luck

    Hard Day!

Hey. I'm really not trying to diminish your feelings here...I know just what you mean. My Dad died on Tuesday and I've spent the last 6 days sitting in the house with my hubby, kids, mom and sisters while everyone who ever met any of us or my dad brought every kind of cake, bread, fruit, meal imaginable to comfort us. I'm tempted to go take a picture of my kitchen to attach to this post, just to prove the insane amount of food in this house. I'm torn between wanting to be sick at the sight and wanting to dive face first into the madness. I'm glad we sleevers have this forum to vent our frustrations. I don't think anybody else can truly get some of the emotions we go through!
  4. I went to a seminar, had a consult with my surgeon, attended a second seminar with my hubby, and had my second consult exactly one year after the first one! At the second consult, I scheduled my surgery to take place in 17 days....just enough time to complete my preop diet. I'm a month out. By the way, I wasn't self-pay, but my insurance company approved me three weeks after my original consult. I was just busy being sure and making the lifestyle changes I needed first. I AM A HAPPY SLEEVER !

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

My surgery was April 17 and I've lost about 21 pounds...but I've hit a stall! I feel like the pounds are coming off slowly, but I've dropped a couple of sizes and have been off insulin and the other diabetic drugs since day one. At endocrinologist today: A1C is 6.7 and cholesterol is 163. I'll take it!
  6. I was sleeved on April 17, and had my last insulin and victoza there at the hospital. I don't take any pills now, either. I was insulin dependent for over 10 years. I take my blood sugar daily, and report them to my endocrinologist weekly, and so far, SO GOOD.
  7. My surgeon is Nick Nicholson, in the Dallas area. He is exceptional and I would trust him with my best friend. I was went to Forest Park, but as an insured patient. It was great... Pristeen, and professional in every way.

    Blood Sugar... Help!

One reason for blood sugars to go way up after surgery is that they sometimes give cortisone if you have lots of scar tissue (like I did). Cortisone usually does have this effect on diabetics, so I was given one last dose of insulin in the hospital. I got lucky. My sugars completely regulated after that one cortisone related spike, and I haven't had to take ANY diabetic meds since I left the hospital. 4 weeks out and no high sugars to date. I love my sleeve. Even if I don't lose another pound, my diabetes dragon has been tamed!

    So Discouraged ....

I think you have to be very comfortable with your doctor, and it doesn't sound like he or she was very sensitive to your fears or concerns. Please know that many of us lose a good deal of weight pre-op and it makes the surgery safer. You'll be okay...just try to keep calm.

    So Discouraged ....

Mind sharing where you live? I'd like to be there for you.
  12. From the time I started thinking about doing this, I decided that only my husband and I would know. One week before surgery, It occurred to me that I needed to tell the two couples that we go out to dinner with, because I wanted it clear that I wasn't asking for their votes on the matter, but expected their support. Even my bestie who is a holistic health coach has given it above and beyond...even helping me get the right science-based vitamins and supplements. After surgery, I told my mom and sisters. My control freak mother actually told me she was proud of me for taking charge of my life and health. My sisters are jealous that my insurance covered me while theirs do not, but they are happy for me, curious, and exploring their options. Bottom line....do what you need to do to get the support YOU need. Whatever that might be.
  13. On the other hamd, they gave me binder at the hospital that held me in and kind of splinted my stomach. Different strokes...
  14. No fail method....add a piece of banana. Be careful not to put in too much ice -3 cubes should do it. Blend til thick.

Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

I am exactly three weeks out, and tomorrow I start soft foods. I love the protein shakes and how easily I get in my protein, so I'm worried that I will gain weight when I transition to food. I've just started getting a little bit hungry, but what will happen when I get real food tomorrow? I'm really worried :$
  16. Yea! I'll go download it now!
  17. I also lost little Pre-op, but I was already no white sugar or flour for months before, so my liver just wasn't fatty! That sucks pounds-wise, but not recovery-wise.

    Howdy Everyone!

Hi! I was sleeved April 17, and my doc had me on a 3 week liquid diet. Tomorrow I go to soft foods, and I'm really having mixed feelings about it. I haven't had any problems at all with getting too full, being hungry, having nausea, aversion to protein drinks, etc. Maybe I'll have some insight for you about the transition in the next couple of days.

    Any Shorties?

I'm 5'0 and my pre-surgery weight was 206. I was sleeved on April 17, and so far I've lost 17 pounds! I gave up white sugar, white flour, and white potatoes several months before my surgery, so I hope my body isn't too used to healthy eating to notice that I'm trying to lose weight. We'll see.
  20. The doc's office refuses to see you? Who on earth is your doctor?

Two Weeks Post-Op And Doing Well

Hi. I'm two weeks out also, and I also feel great. I think giving up white flour, sugar, and glutens during the months before my surgery really helped a lot. Here's to a lifetime of caring for our bodies in this new way. It's our time!
