Questions For Doc
oneproudpappa replied to M_Johnson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember that everyone is different and will have diffferent outcomes. My doctor asked me things like was I getting enough protein and water in. He looked at my insisions. I had more questions for my nutritionist than I did my surgeon. My main question was now that I have a smaller stomach how will that affect me doing manual physical labor in the humid heat of Louisiana summers. He said that was an excellent question. His response was that I have to stay ahead of the game more than others. The potential to dehydrate is far greater for me now than before. He insisted that I drink water 24/7 as much as possible to avoid severe dehydration. -
Hard To Not Eat And Drink At The Same Time
oneproudpappa replied to New1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 60lbs in almost 8 weeks. My surgeon told me to keep a cup of water in my hands or on my side at all times and sip sip sip. It really helps if you have a cup full right by you. You will drink much more. -

24 Hours Post-Op

Thank You! I was determined to take this to a whole new level. This has been a huge blessing to have this opportunity that I see so many are having complications with insurance to have done. It feels so good to have given away 3 and 4X shirts. Dropped 2 pants sizes. Had to cut my belts shorter. My barber did not recognize me when I walked in Thursday. -

That's right! Walk, walk, walk! : ) My biggest complaint was burping up the trapped gas. The infant gas drops mylicon helps. I stayed 24 hours in hospital alone and it was no fun but all the discomfort will soon pass and you will be feeling great very soon. WTG! Congrats! -

Excellent! I was sleeved on 03/13/2013 in Baton Rouge at OLOL by Dr. Brent Allain who is in my opinion the best in the buisness. Let's keep in touch. I am a die hard LSU fan as I can see you are too. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. I have lost nearly 60lbs in 7 weeks! -
Taking Time Off Work?
oneproudpappa replied to Drcalhoun's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have lost 50.5lbs in 6 weeks so I must be doing something right. I suggest buying Quaker instant oatmeal in large container. ( it's cheaper than the individual packets and is sugar free) Reduce the serving directions from 1/2 a cup to a 1/4 cup of oats and add Water until it covers the top of the oats. (you can't eat a 1/2 cup or you will burst ha ha) Microwave for about 80 seconds and keep an eye in it because it may overflow. Once it's cooked I added 1/4 cup or so of low fat sugar free strawberry yogurt to sweeten and just a pat of butter. (I also added 2 tsp of milled flax seeds) That was my Breakfast every day and sometimes dinner. It tastes great, warm and soothing. Good luck -

I absolutely hate the Body Fortress protein from Walmart! Its gritty and taste bad. Gladiator tastes great but costs twice as much. I blend with water, ice, all natural peanut butter and a half a cup of strawberry yogart. I find milk makes the shake too thick and foamy. -

Thank You! I'm on here to inspire others who maybe scared or on the fence about getting sleeved. I am living proof of the potential of this surgery. Losing almost 50lbs in 6 weeks is mind blowing. Plus I no longer use sleep apnea machine and doctor took me off diabete medication. -
March Sleevers... How Are You Doing?
oneproudpappa replied to oneproudpappa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did not have a pre op diet and was sent home the next day full duty with no restrictions. I did not need the pain pills the doctor sent me home with. My total experience was great with an awesome surgeon! I stick to my diet, take all of my vitamins, and have no desire for colas, junk, sweets or fast food. What part of Austrailia are you from? I have friends in NSW. -

March Sleevers... How Are You Doing?
oneproudpappa replied to oneproudpappa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been sick since Wednesday with a bad virus that I caught from my son. I'm going to the doctor today to get some better medicine. Being sick has prevented me from going to the gym so I'm kind of stalled on my weight loss. I was sleeved March 13th. I weighed 342.5 and weighed this morning 294. -
You Tube has a wealth of personal trainer videos that show proper lifting techniques. I watched them until I went crosseyed and still watch them. Your smart to be cautious because you can really injure yourself if you do not use the machines properly. Plus if your not using correct form and posture you could possibly do more harm than good. Hope that helps, Good luck! : )

Your doing fine! I read the lable on the Gladiator and it is an isolate. I would buy it but it's over $50. They told me a few to get at GNC but I can't remember the names. I did find out the first week of every new month GNC has big discounts on all products so I'm waiting for the first week of May. -

They claim that the whey concentrate is not totally absorbed like the isolate is. Their example was if your using a whey concentration that says 26grams per scoop once it's absorbed your getting much less than 26grams. They claimed with the isolates total absorbtion your getting the full amount. I'm a newbie and not an expert. -

I reluctantly bought four 2lb Body Fortress protein powder for 14.99 each at walmart. I will be switching to a better one as soon as I run out. It clumps, taste gritty and has whey concentrate. I was told by 2 pro body builders to avoid anything that said whey concentrate. They said buy the whey isolate only. -

I'm not bragging but I'm a 6'2 big boned country boy that's always been strong as an ox. I had no problem doing 100lb sets of squats, presses, and pulls the week after my surgery. That's just me and everyone is different. The only exercise that I have avoided is doing sit ups and crunches. I want my mid section to be fully healed before I stress it. -

Thank You ; ) I did not really do anything special. My surgeon was so cool that he told me to go at my own pace so I went to the gym only once a week. Walked on treadmill at a very fast pave for about 15 minutes the lifted weights for about 45 minutes. I mostly skipped the liquid phase and went straight to sugar free oatmeal with flaxseed and low fat strawberry yogart to sweeten it up. I snack on mozzarella sticks, sf jello, all natural peanut butter, skim milk, tuna, grilled fish, and 100 to 130 grams of protein per day. I'm drinking about 32oz of water per day shooting for 64oz perday. I realized that colas, junk food and fast food made me fat. With that in mind I look at those things as poison now and do not consume any. I don't miss it either. Six weeks post op and I'm off diabetic medication and no longer use sleep apnea bipap machine. I'm sick with a bad cold right now but look forward to digging in deep at the gym as soon as I get well. -

Thank You All! I'm hoping to inspire others. I had a no flawed great experience with a fantastic surgeon! No pre op diet, no drain tubes, no insision pain. Stayed in hospital alone, was discharged to full duty the next day at 1:00 pm. I didn't even need the pain pills he sent me home with! I had real bad gas that was very discomforting to burp up but the infant gas drops helped with that. -
