Stuck Episode Again Tonight, What's Up?
donna12 replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
which book of Jean's did you get? I may want to order. She looks amazing and I'm sure has some great insights on lap band. I know you are getting excited!~!! -
Hate to break it to you but pop is a no no with lap band. You might as well start giving them up now to make it easier on yourself. I wasn't addicted to pop, all I drank was Water so it wasn't hard for me in that respect. All dr's are different with diets so you will have to see what yours is expecting you to eat. Mine wants me to eat 3 meals a day and drink drink drink, water of course. Yes I do drink tea every now and again. I do hope you have researched it enouch to know that you can't drink during eating and after you have eaten. Hope this helps. Donna

I thought the same thing and was feeling pretty good about day 7 to day 8. I took my Zofran around the clock as I was nauseated too but mine was due to me being constipated from the pain meds and not going for a week. Once I went my nausea eased. I'm 7 wks post op now and have lots of energy and it's the best decision I've ever made. I'm down 28 lbs total including pre-op diet loss and I have 4.5cc's in my band now. I do however struggle with bouts of nausea but my surgeon thinks it's my gallbladder as I have stones and he wants to wait to take it out till I heal completely. Hope you feel better soon. It is hard but so much worth it, hang in there. Donna

I only have 4.5cc's in and tonight got stuck on deli thin sliced ham. Horrible. lasted 2 hrs. I dread my appt in 3 wks for another fill if I can't eat eggs or this ham that is paper thin.

Got Stuck Tonight-Again
donna12 replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well last night proved you right girl. My mom and I cooked a roast with gravy the other day and it was really tender and I ate that just fine, it like shredded off kind of like pulled pork does and I was able to eat it and it was really good for a change. Wasn't able to eat much of it guess that's a good thing, means my band is working. -

donna12 replied to 2savemylife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I looked on amazon and it really didn't say much about the book. Can you be more specific on what the book talks about if you've read it, I'm interested. Thx Donna -
2much, wouldn't mind having your low fat quiche recipe if you don't mind??? Thanks Donna

I had surgery June 13th and have 4.5cc's in my band and right now I get hungry about every 4 hrs depending on how much Protein I eat in each meal. I know this isn't the "green zone" right? Sometimes when I'm up at night like around 11:00 pm I get hungry and I have to eat deli sliced ham, like 2 or 3 slices or turkey. Tonight for dinner I had Subway, a 3" sub but could only eat 2" of it, yes I can still tolerate bread but chew it really well. I made sure it had plenty of turkey on it for protein. Thanks for posting, I've always wondered what the green zone felt like too.

Food Stuck For 12 Hours
donna12 replied to Boniluuu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMGosh I feel for you. My 2 episodes since surgery June 13th were on chicken 2 and half weeks ago that lasted an hr and half and I spit up frothy and slimy mess till finally I threw it up and it was painful too like you all. Then the other morning I got stuck scrambled eggs, not so long just about a half hr and finally threw them up. Yes its gross and not pleasant and is very painful. I just simply got in a hurry and didn't chew and took big of a bite. So used to gorging on food and I need to make aware of my band now and take little bites and now since I have a fill I especially need to pay close attention. Glad you finally have relief. -
here's my both episodes with being stuck so far and I'm 6 weeks post op. Once on chicken and the other on eggs. It hurts like crazy in the center of your chest. I spit up slimy mess and frothy mess, I know gross huh, but that's what goes on. Finally I throw it up, both times. Chicken episode lasted an hr and half and egg lasted only a few mins. Hope this helps...chew chew chew and take small bites, I didn't!!!

I will take heed to this note of what size food should be since I got stuck yesterday and I too have 4cc's in my band. "the size of my nail on my pinkie finger", yep from now on...thx

Post Operation Menus? I Need Help!
donna12 replied to MarySnov's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
glad I found this: I too have trouble. I was banded June 13th, I can't eat chicken. Getting bored with or tired of Tilapia, can't eat eggs of course I got stuck on eggs yesterday and posted so many of you responded that was common, thanks for letting me know and also dehydration is common factor of stuck. But would like recipes too. thx -
got stuck this morning on a scrambled egg. Wasn't as bad as the chicken but bad enough. I have 4.5cc's in my band and I guess I didn't chew it well. Just learning to chew is a new thing huh? I'm 6 wks post op. Tried the papaya pills, helped a little but still had the spitting up episode. I don't think I will eat eggs for awhile.
-
well I'm no expert on the subject but to answer your question when you have restriction in your band or eat too big of a bite or don't chew your food really well the food cannot pass thru the hole/band that is around your smaller stomach that was created for you and pass thru to the lower stomach eventually and therefore gets stuck in there and it is painful and is very or can be gross and you may eventually throw it up like I do. I tend to salivate alot, spit up frothy mess and slimy mess then eventually throw up. go to lapband.com it may explain it better there or google it or look on youtube, just a thought. You might coulld get a visual of how food gets stuck. Hope this helps. Donna

thanks everyone for chiming in. I think it is a combination of two things from what I've read here, dehydration and not taking the time to chew chew chew. I was in a hurry this morning and so hungry. I need to slow down, I know this and still learning. Like I said, I'm only 6 wks out so its a learning curve. I was very sick yesterday with a bout of diarrhea all day up until bedtime last night so needless to say I know I was somewhat dehydrated but didn't know that it made your band tight??? Hm, no one has told me that before, now I know. thx. Thought I'd try an egg this morning instead of Protein shake and was so hungry I guess I took a too big of bite and didn't chew and well I paid for it. I can tolerate well cooked veggies, salads, canned chicken and tuna, fish like Tilapia or Salmon, a beef/bean burrito well I say that now but since having the .5cc put in yesterday I haven't had the burrito yet. lol. Actually haven't had much of any of it yet since I was on liquids and mushies all day yesterday. We'll see. I'm struggling with bouts of nausea during the day so my surgeon didn't want to put a full cc in yesterday, he thinks it's my gallbladder, ugh. Oh well, enough rambling. Thanks again everyone. Donna

I am 5 weeks post op and have 4cc's in my band and ever since surgery I just can't shake the nausea feeling every morning but today it has lasted all day today...anyone else?
-
does anyone have a recipe that has numerous Beans in it like kidney beans, black beans etc, onions, some kind of italian dressing maybe that would be packed with Protein and low fat? served cold. thanks Donna
-
I have 4.5cc's in band so far and I haven't had any probs with any veggies or salads but grant you I haven't had all that you listed and I cook all of mine. I'd die without salads but as I get more in my band I may be restricted so much that I can't eat them...we'll see. Good luck.

, I finally googled it and called the doctor for a prescrip. Thx, maybe this will help. I go tomorrow for a 2nd fill and I will talk to him about my nausea all of the time. Today however has been a good day

Do You Have A Favorite Brand Of Protein Shakes?
donna12 replied to KanesMom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well I do say it is trial and error of taste. With my experience I agree with Sasha, the one I found that I love is GNC's Lean shake Swiss Choc. If you go in there they will usually let you try it. It comes in strawberry, Vanilla and Swiss Choc but I didn't care for the other two flavors. I gagged on EAS Strawberry, just my opinion. One other one I could tolerate was GNC's Isopure grape flavor, leave kind of an after taste but it was tolerable and is high in Protein. Good luck. Donna -
I don't mean to sound dumb but I've never heard of somac, is it prescription? Like I said I take Omeprazole every morning to prevent heartburn so was just wondering...hm? Thanks everyone.
-
OMGosh, yes I have a coated tongue, yes yes yes. But I take Omeprazole every morning for heartburn. where can i buy the somac you take?
-
hey Jen, I take gummie vitamins but after a meal either breakfast or lunch. This morning before church all I could tolerate was a Protein shake, just couldn't think about an egg, nope, wasn't gona do it. My doc said he would rather see me eating than drinking my calories/protein but I can't help it in the mornings, seems to be the only thing that I can handle is the Protein shakes and then not very much as I will gag. I only have 4cc's in.
