Just about every day after I eat, with time lapsing, I get gas pains in the center of my chest like I'm having a heart attack, it is so painful, I can't burp, I can't do anything. It makes me nauseous so I end up taking a Dramamine and a Gas X and sometimes the Gas X relieves it and sometimes it doesn't. I'm recently divorced and live with my 73 yr old mom so most of you will get a kick out of this so laugh it up but I ask her to beat me on the back like your are burping a baby to move the gas. This helps sometimes and moves the gas but was wondering if anyone else experiences this after being banded? I'm almost 4 mo post op.

Oh my, I said goodbye to Sprite May 30th, the day before my pre op diet. Nope, no straws, I drink Water from a water bottle. I haven't discussed the pain and gas feeling but he knows about me feeling nauseated. I see him this week. He thinks he has me close if not in the green zone. I have a 10cc band and had 5cc's in there and was throwing up all of the time and getting things stuck so went in last month for an unfill just .25cc's and so far smooth sailing.

Can Anyone Tolerate Eating Rice?
donna12 replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you all for the info. I had a craving today for Chinese fried rice but refrained. Old habits. -
Ever since surgery June 13th of this year my hair is really dry, brittle, yes I get it colored at the salon, a low light and highlights every 7 weeks but ever since my surgery it just breaks off at the ends like its fried. My stylist suggested Biotin. With that said, I read in a magazine tonight about Viviscal but didn't like the reviews on Walgreens.com about oily skin and oily hair from Viviscal but it does promote hair growth and healthy hair for thinning hair which I do have also. I do use a flat iron on it. Anyone of you girls out there a stylist and can shed some light on here for me??? Help!!!

Sarah, have you ever heard of "Sea Salt" treatments? I was at the dentist today and got to talking with the receptionist and well she knew my mom and well we were talking and she was telling me how she had her hair blond last year and now it's Kim Kardashian black which is her natural color and looks great on her but pryor to that she said her hair was fried and she went to a salon in a nearby city (about an hour away from me) and got 3 treatments (separately) where the stylist used something called sea salt treatments and it worked wonders and her hair was as healthy as healthy could be. So I called today and the girl was able to get me in next week for my first treatment, I'm uber excited. Can't you tell. lol

yes I take vitamins plus biotin. Exactly what is DHA for?

where do I get keratin treatments? Don't mean to sound dumb, sorry...lol. I do use its a 10 products and love them. Yesterday I left the deep conditioner on with a cap for an hr and it really helped a lot, I mean a lot. I will wash it again tomorrow as I have a dr's appt and I will have time to do the same thing and leave the conditioner on there for a while before styling. I can't thank all you ladies enough for caring and all your suggestions. Now if I can only get it to grow back out from my stylist cutting the ends off..grrr but she had to do it.
-
thanks Sarah, I certainly didn't expect surgery to take its toll on my hair this bad, whew. Its frizzy sometimes. I do have the Its a 10 Serum but have not used it. The orange cap item you are talking about is that the deep conditioner that you rinse out?

well my hair isn't falling out so I really don't think it's a protein issue. I do have a hard time getting my water intake in, in a days time so maybe I'm a bit dehydrated every day. the ends of my hair are brittle, dry and breaking off, it looks fried and frizzy. I just got my hair colored/cut/styled Saturday and my stylist was shocked at the condition and the only thing she could think of was my diet change and to take Biotin. I just ordered the Paul Mitchell Strength and protectant spray from Sleekhair.com its cheaper there. I'm sure I could have gone to Walmart salon and checked to see if they carried the products but sometimes they don't carry all of the products you need, their hair products are cheaper too. The girl that does my hair at my salon carries "It's a 10" products and the other 2 girls carry something else to sell. Wish I could take this pic of me on here and bottle it up as my hair is healthy here and my sides are longer, she has had to cut my sides shorter and it looks horrible trying to cut away the damaged part. Here I come Biotin!!!

Randi I'm assuming she just does my roots, she foils it. She thinks it's my diet. Thank you all so much for the info. Can't wait to get the products in hand to get started on my hair restoration...

I am almost 16 weeks post op and went to a support meeting tonight and there was a person there that I knew before surgery so we talked and I asked him how many cc's he had in his band and I was shocked. We had surgery 2 weeks apart and he has 7cc's and I only have 4.75cc's. I had to have .25cc's removed last month because I kept getting things stuck and that in turn would make me throw up a lot. My question is kind of dumb I guess, why is it that he is able to handle 7cc's and still eat bread, steak, and just about anything, even scrambled eggs and when I had 5cc's I got stuck on scrambled eggs? And now I cannot eat breat, toast yes but not bread, too scared to try steak. Please someone explain to me the difference. Thanks Donna

do you spray it on damp hair to blow dry or after you dry and before you flat Iron???
-
just purchased the moroccan oil, thanks Randi. I will be on the hunt for the other stuff too. what brand of heat shield do you recommend?
-
thanks girls, thanks so much!!!! Happy camper right now!

Right now she has me using It's a 10 Miracle Mask conditioning everyday, pretty pricey but hey I don't care, it helps but by the time I dry my hair you can see the fried ends again and I put my dryer on cool. I have a Chi flat Iron and don't turn it up very high also a ION digital flat iron too that I set on 250. OMG I never thought I'd have hair issues. makes me want to indulge on fatty foods just to get some fat into my diet again. NOT! You didn't hear me say that.

oh thank you so much. Any brand of Moroccan oil?

donna12 replied to critterlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think with your attitude you will be able to take your pounds off, stay positive like you are and get healthy again, you can do it!!! It is a good thing you found this problem before it turned out to be esophagus cancer from all the heartburn and acid reflux. Good luck to you, I have faith in you and keep us posted. -

donna12 replied to MOMIOF3CV's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hm, I've never been told this but then again I've never asked specifically but did ask what happens if I get sick and can't stop throwing up and he gave me a prescrip of Zofran to keep on hand and to also call him day or night. My surgeon is always on call 24/7. -

What Are Your Gauged Foods?
donna12 replied to brandice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been meaning to go inside and look at the nutrition value on the wall but its good source of protein and low fat. I can barely eat the small serving, it's almost too much. -
What Are Your Gauged Foods?
donna12 replied to brandice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat a lot of fish, a lot!!!, a bowl of Beans, chicken salad some days for lunch, a small cheese quesadilla with low fat cheese, cottage cheese, today my mom and I had lunch at Red Lobster and we shared a lunch portion of fried flounder and I had one piece of fish and 2 bites of baked potato and 4 bites of salad, the piece of fish was small and for dinner I had a half of bowl of pinto beans. Sometimes I will eat an egg with toast and not able to eat all the toast, I am able to eat toast but not raw breads since my last fill. I eat meatloaf, Wendy's small chili when I'm craving chili and of course its getting cool here in western kentucky. That about sums up my diet, could be better and I could have lost more than 36.5 lbs since June 13th but I'm eating and learning to eat and living with my band and not feeling deprived. -
What Are Your Gauged Foods?
donna12 replied to brandice's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never heard of gauged food either, hm. I'm not suppose to eat pasta and rice but pretty much eat healthy foods like chicken, fish, lean ground beef like in chili, canned chicken in chicken salad, pulled pork (I know not healthy huh?) But I'm a southern girl but generally I eat healthy or try too at least. I do eat potatoes mashed or baked and haven't had a prob, not too much of it tho as it is carbs and starches. -
oh I'd have to say I was all 3 and now if I have to have something I will grab a low fat string cheese on occasion.

Missy is right on with it all, sometimes I hiccup, not always and sometimes it's just a feeling of a sort of a sigh or a feeling like I could burp but can't and I know right then I better stop or it will all come back up. Still learning my band tho. A note to you for a book to read if you are wanting to know all about the band, is our own Jean McMillan, The Bandwagon, wonderful read and very informative!!! Very worth the money from her...scroll to the bottom of this page and you can purchase it. I love mine. Good luck! Donna
