  1. Anyone else can jump in please, but PB'ing is called a productive burp. It's when you get food stuck in your stoma and it wants to come back up and you feel like you have to burp. For me, I slime, salivate, gross I know and then finally it just kind of all comes up, kind of vomiting in a sense but not straining like when you really vomit, it just slides right up, does this make sense?
  2. I called the dr/surgeon this morning and talked to his nurse (don't like her) she didn't even know what PB'ing was or productive burp so I just said then vomited but I didn't do that really, I didn't strain, it just came up like in a burp. Anyway, she just shrugged it off and said oh you probably got stuck and for me to do liquids and soft foods for today which I've done but I am in so much pain in my chest right smack dab in the middle like I've done a 1000 crunches almost like I can feel my band, its weird. Guess I will let it go for a couple of days and call again if it continues. It annoys me to call in and talk to her, she is so rude. I love my surgeon tho and his other staff members.
  3. Thanks elcee, I sure thought I chewed but guess not. Sure didn't feel like a traditional "stuck" feeling if there is such a thing. ha. I still am in so much pain in my chest this evening.

No one has every told me no NSAIDs, why?
  5. I've been stuck before and this wasn't a stuck episode, it was all of the sudden of feeling nauseous and having to go spit it up. I really didn't throw it up, it was like several productive burps, heck I don't know, maybe it was stuck and I didn't realize it. It was kettle potato chips so they were very hard and crunchy. I feel like I've done about a 1000 crunches or sit ups.???
  6. Okay, here's my delima: I cannot stand hamburger meat since surgery, chicken gets stuck unless it's canned and I make chicken salad, I eat a lot of fish (and I'm getting tired of it), shaved turkey or ham, cheese (low fat), cottage cheese, I may eat a half of an 8" Quesadilla with low fat cheese in it. I'm getting burned out on my meals as I eat these things every day. I was wondering how you guys get your Protein in in other ways besides meat? I went to the dr last week and had .25cc's removed, he thought I was too tight, I'm 3 months post op by the way and before he came in his nurse blessed me out over drinking Protein shakes. I only drink them occassionally like before church when I'm in a hurry and it's simple and quick but she said that the only time I should be drinking them was pre op and post op. I felt like a scolded child, guess I should have said something to the dr but didn't. He such a sweetie and great bedside manner. Anyway, off the subject, back at hand, I haven't tackled pork chops or steak, scared to as if chicken gets stuck so will that. Open for suggestions. thx Donna
  7. Hm? I've never been told that it isn't bad for me so I eat a spoon of it about twice a week if I need a snack at night. I've never tried Hummus, can you buy it?

I don't mean to sound dumb but what is a Road ID?
  9. Exactly, he doesn't want me drinking my protein and getting my calories in that way, wants me eating food and healthy. With that being said, I get hungry about every 4 to 5 hrs tho so I'm eating 3x a day with maybe a snack like low fat string cheese or a all beef stick or a bite of Peanut Butter in between. Today was awful, ate Breakfast at 8:30 which was early for me, lunch at 12:30 (out of town with family) and had to travel from out of state back home and didn't get home due to an accident on the interstate until 7:30 so I was starving. Luckily I had a bag of cashews with me and I had a few but by the time I got home I grabbed anything to eat, something quick which ended up being a small portion of pulled pork BBQ, a spoon of baked Beans and a spoon of potato salad.
  10. I guess I need to get me some Protein powder. huh? No I haven't ck'd your food diary out yet, I went on there but can't really figure out how to navigate around it, duh? lol. help! Donna
  11. I agree with above, Milk of Mag or stool softener/laxative, the pain killers and anesthesia constipated me to the point of I didn't go for 5 days after surgery and I ended up being very nauseated and couldn't even get water down so the dr told me to drink Magnesium Citrate, boy, a little goes a long way, got my bowels moving, that's for sure. You will notice or at least I do and I'm 4 months post op, since we aren't eating high fatty foods and all those calories that you aren't as regular so I still struggle with constipation, ugh. Drink plenty, walk to get the gas out, heating pad, and let your body heal. Good luck. Happy for you.
  12. so far I haven't noticed any hair loss and I'm 4 months post op but my issues were very brittle ends and dryness, damaged looking. So some ladies on here told me about some products to order and I did, one being Moroccan oil for fine hair and I ordered it directly from their website, it's pricey but well worth it. Now my hair looks healthy again after just 2 applications. I sure hope my hair stays in and no hair loss, eek!
  13. let me know how it is too as I was wondering whether it changes the texture to water like crystal light water bottle of course? Not so much concerned with adding to food as with my water. Keep us posted on what you think as I might want to order some. thx
  14. do you also take a multi vit along with the prenatal vit?

    What Are Some Full Signals?

I'm the same as you, 4.5cc's in a 10cc band and I'm about to my green zone tho, I get hiccups or at least hiccup once and then it's kind of like the back of my throat will constrict like if I take one more bite it will all come back up, almost like a burp sensation and then I know, better not take another bite. Like others have said above about 20 mins usually whether there is food left or not. You might want to order our very own Jean McMillan's book Bandwagon and read that, she addresses all sorts of band issues like fullness and signals to look for. You can scroll to the bottom of the page and find the advertisement to order. It's a great read and a wonderful book to have around to go back and reference to. I am 4 mos post op. Good luck.

    Vitamin Help

Carole, I'm the world's worst about taking my vitamins I will admit that and I suffer the same, tiredness and fatigue and I know I need to remember to take them everyday. My question to you and I know you know because I love when you post, your the expert, you mentioned that there are websites out there that carry vitamins for bariatric patients, what would be the difference in these and a standard run of the mill multi vit. from Walgreens/Walmart? I'm just learning all of this and only 4 months post op so any insight please let me know. Also, any websites that sell the bariatric vitamins that you would share with me would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Donna
  20. Just need to vent. First off let me begin by saying I'm newly divorced and forced to live with my 73 yr old mother due to finances. Has been a struggle and an adjustment after being married for 25 years. The divorce was a shock, didn't want it, he did. Guess he got tired of me being fat. No I didn't have the surgery because of him, I finally had had enough of feeling sick and tired all of the time and knew I had to do something about my health and took matters into my own hands and decided May of this year to have surgery. Going back to living with my mom. Today has tested my nerves. Although she has been my biggest fan and hugest cheerleader in all of this, today and last night I can't do anything right. I'm either eating too much or too often. She makes comments like "I'm afraid you won't succeed if you keep doing this". With that being said, I'm struggling today with my diet. Don't know if I'm wanting to eat out of depression and old ways or what but seems like I can't get satisfied. I had Breakfast and 2 1/2 hrs later I want to snack and did, I had 4 crackers with low fat laughing cow cheese spread. I see my surgeon this coming week to talk about a fill or not to fill. Last month on the 13th I went in for an unfill, .25cc's he took out because I kept getting things stuck and throwing up. Looking back on all of it and reading from all of you and Jean's book I probably took too big of bites, I didn't take the tiny bite of the size of your little finger (nail) and didn't chew it well either. I'm still learning my band I admit that. My surgery was June 13th of this year. I will discuss with him when I go Thurs. about maybe getting some put back in and taking things more slowly, eating more wisely with bite size and chewing to infinity. All of you on here have given me suggestions, support and words of encouragement beyond words of gratitude when I post things. My latest struggle is with my hair, I'm about to die. It looks awful. Too short cause my stylist had to cut it off because it was damaged on the ends and still looks damaged, it's dry and brittle. I'm the world's worst about taking meds and remembering to take them, please don't preach, I know I'm wrong. I need to improve on that aspect in my life too, to remember to take my Vitamins, Biotin etc. My other vent is about how I feel all of the time, sleepy, tired and run down. I don't work so there is no excuse not to go to the gym but I do not feel up to it, litterally. My pulse runs low and my blood pressure is always low. I just had blood work done last month and the only thing I was deficient in was Vitamin D, everything else checked out ok. Now I guess I need to get my butt in gear and call this doctor, my regular doctor and tell him I'm always tired and could something else be wrong, i.e. heart. (my dad died of heart disease). My blood pressure always runs 100 over 60 or 90 over 57 in that area and my pulse is always 50's to 60's. Any of you out there in the medical field want to chime in go ahead. Just feeling really cruddy today. Don't mean to sound negative, I'm not really, just struggling with food today and my mom, and tired of feeling sick and tired. Thanks for listening. Usually I'm ok but not today. Donna

you guys are going to make me cry! You lift my spirits!!! I'm feeling better already, thank you all so very much. Yes the divorce did take it's toll on me and all I can do it move on like he has. I unfortunately live in a city of about 45,000 people and it's not hard for me to run into him and his new woman so that in itself is very hard on me emotionally. And when I go out to eat I usually know the staff and I hear "Oh your ex was in here in last night with the "witch" again"...move on move on move right? One good thing out of the divorce was that it was friendly and we remain friends and I still speak to my ex mother-in-law and miss her deeply. Right now I'm trying to focus on ME and getting healthy and staying that way for the rest of my life. Thanks for letting me vent today.

thanks ladies, again, your words of encouragement and calming words are more than a thank you. I think I'm just having a funky day, like you all said, a pity party because I'm usually pretty upbeat. Just came in from outside playing with my Dachshund so got a little activity, feel a little better. It is a beautiful day here in Kentucky so I should feel blessed not having a pity party huh? I know my body had endured a lot over the last 4 months and the changes in my eating habits have changed drastically but today I have struggled with wanting to make good choices and feeling satisfied. Please do not think I'm bashing my mom, I am so blessed to still have her alive and well and be my cheerleader during all of this, she supports me in all my decisions. Yes it is hard for 2 grown women who were used to living alone (me during my separation and divorce) to now living together but we do actually get along very well it's just last night and today I felt like she was fussing or harping on me. Just needed to get it off my chest I guess. Thank you ladies so much. Donna
  24. I am 4 months post op and I did not suffer hair loss but my hair is so dry and brittle that it is breaking off and my stylist had to cut it off, it looks horrible. Wasn't expecting this!
