I use Mag Cit now to get me moving along ever so often but don't drink but a tiny bit. I so don't look forward to my colonoscopy this coming December, with that said, my Lap Band surgeon is also general surgeon and he will be performing my colonoscopy so he will know what to do in my case for prep. They are checking me for cancer, I have to have one every 3 years and I just had my band 7 1/2 mos ago so hopefully all goes well with you and me. Good luck.

you look amazing! I only hope I can look as great as you in a year to a year and half. Congrats!!!

I used to take it a couple of yrs ago (before banded) and I never ate before taking it. I took it at bedtime, well, around 9:30ish at night. My psych put me on it for sleep but took me off of it cause it caused tremors in my legs especially when I took the 80mg. Like I said I never ate before taking it. My psych is very informed on bariatric surgeries. I'm crazy about him. I take most of my meds for sleep due to severe insomnia. Another med for bipolar is Saphris, I take it for sleep. It's expensive but I have ins and all I pay is the copay.

Haven't had steak since being banded, do you eat it?
donna12 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boy am I ever craving a steak but I just can't bear the thought of chewing a piece of red meat to death. Hamburger meat gags me cause I don't want to run into a gristle, ew, and well, all I've eaten so far is fish and chicken but oh how I would love something different for a change. Do you guys eat steak? -

Thanks everyone for your input. I may try a filet soon to see how I do since I'm craving it. Before the band I would bake them like a roast and they were delish so I may do that instead of grilling. I am a great seafood eater and love it to death but I'm getting tired of it 7 1/2 mos out and tonight of all nights and I know what you're going to say so say it, I warmed up some left over chicken in the toaster oven and it was too dry and I ate it anyway, ended up getting stuck so PB'd most of it up to say the least. I usually can eat chicken but didn't happen tonight. So mushies for me tomorrow. Had some hot chocolate earlier to ease my soreness. Dang, I am going to the grocery tomorrow afternoon and get me a filet, lol. -
Sara, you can do it. The first few days are the worst, your body is detoxing off of carbs and sugar. Of course I had to do 3 Protein shakes a day and broth and sf popsicles and sf Jello and that's all I could have for 2 weeks. You have the right mind set, looking at the big picture, leaving the old self behind and looking at the new you. It's all worth it, believe me! I love my band.

I went out for a "last supper", not my choice of a fav place, had I chosen it would have been Longhorn but my best friend chose local but we had fun and yes I gorged right down to birthday cake cause it was her birthday, do I regret it, no, it was the last juicy thick hamburger (thats what I wanted) I've had since banded cause hamburger meat gags me now and as far as birthday cake, haven't touched it either. On my birthday a couple of weeks ago my mom made me a fat free 5 cup salad, with the exception of the coconut. So if you feel the need to have a fav meal go ahead get it out of your system. It's kind of mourning food. Junk food that is. I eat healthy now. Good luck.

soccerblue I need to come to Louisville then to the doctor since my PCP knows nothing about the band, heck she is overweight and asks me about it like she's interested.

I want to be able to shop in a normal sized section of a department store instead of a Lane Bryant, Ave, or plus sized store or section. Can't wait. As far as body image goes, I have really big hips and legs and upper arms, always have so at some point I will have to have skin removed, I do not think any amount of exercise can tighten what I have. With that said, my hips have shrunk a lot in 7 months. I also want to be able to wear a cute right about the knee sweater dress with tights and be able to fit into some boots, right now my legs are too big. And most of all, off the subject, I'm single/divorced so I wanna be hit on by a single male...teeheee. Just had to throw that one in, who knows I may find him in the clothing store. Bahahaha

Best Tuna salad I have ever had...

I will try and answer your question to a soft stop. For me when I've eaten approx 1 cup of food I hiccup, that is my trigger to stop eating. Some experience watery eyes, runny nose and like me some hiccup. That is a soft stop to let you know you better stop or else it will all come back up if you eat too much. Anyone else chime in for other advise. Hope this helps. -
glad you like it, I had it for dinner last night and it was just as yummy warmed up...lol. Enjoy!

Made a crock pot of chicken taco soup this morning and its been simmering and just had a cup and boy was it delish! This time I used salsa instead of rotel tomatoes and it was really good. Topped it off with and handful of fresh cherries for dessert. Ah!

Missy to the rescue again for me. I did have hernia repair during my LB surgery and I take Omprazole everyday so I'd better wait till I can call in next week and ask him. Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know this.

ok, I have to get in on this, I was just prescribed Celebrex, haven't taken it yet, I told the dr I was seeing that I'm a lap band patient and he was like so. The subject has never come up with my LB dr for me to take NSAIDS, why are we not supposed to take them?

Here's my delima: When I get up in the morning and i'm a late sleeper due to severe insomnia and sleeping meds making me groggy the next morning so I don't get up till around 10:00 I'm not hungry for breakfast at all. I know some of you know and I'm sorry to keep repeating it but I live with my 74 yr old mom and she nags me "you better eat something to get your metabalism reving. Before band, I would never eat breakfast I would always eat a late lunch like around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. My question is, should I be eating breakfast? My doc says 3 meals a day but in the mornings I'm just forcing food into me, it almost gags me.

Found out today and boy how clueless I was and must have been and how dumb I must have looked to everyone, that my ex-husband's affair had been going on for years. It was with a girl that worked for him. He was the boss of the plant. All those late night "oh I gotta go in and talk to 3rd shift" yea right, she worked 3rd shift. and the year he left me was Oct '09, well we had gone to Destin, Fla on a family vacation with my entire family for a week and 3 days in I noticed he couldn't stay off his blackberry and then bam he announced "plant isn't running good I need to go home", so I took him to the airport so he could fly home early while I stayed with my family. Then another clue, I had gone to my brother's house for a weekend with my mom and when I came home there were women's bare feet prints all over the wood kitchen floor like lotioned feet prints. When I questioned, he said he had people over drinking, yea right. This person that told me of his infidelities worked for him and said everyone knew, everyone but me, boy do I feel like a fool. Up until today, I was having a hard time getting over him, I still loved him, after all we were married for 25 yrs, let's just say this put closure on it for me and a little hate in there. Not sinful hate, just hate but closure and it's time I move on. He didn't deserve me. thanks for listening to my non-lap band discussion.

I cooked on high for 3.5 hrs, it was boiling in the crock pot. My mom had left at the time I ate so I turned it down on low to simmer for her till she got in but that was only an hour. She ate hers with Frito's. Devil's food huh? lol.

oh girl, my recipe is so simple you'll crack up. 2 lg cans of chicken and break it up so its shredded, 2 cans of shoepeg corn-drained, 1 can of black beans-drained, 1 can of kidney beans-drained, 1 packet of taco seasoning, 1 cup of salsa, 1 small can of tomato sauce and 1 1/2 cups of water. Now if you want to add onions or more chicken you can or more beans you can. It's just me and mom so this was plenty. I will say I would have liked a little more chicken in it, especially for protein factor but the beans are in there. I use canned chicken and fork it till it shreds cause I don't do well with cooked chunks of chicken meat. That's it.

thank you laurigee, that makes me feel good. Oh he hooked up with the one he had an affair with, they live together and she hates my guts and I've never done anything to her nor have I ever met her, lol. His entire family cannot stand her is the funny thing, she's rude to them and I so hate that for his mother, she was the best mother-in-law a girl could ever had. I'm still in contact with his mom, and his little brother and his family and a few of his nieces. Thank you for sharing your words of wisdom. And yes hopefully someday I will find love again.
