Gordon's has this Skillet Crisp Tilipia, I like the Garlic and Herb and I put it in a non stick skillet and cook it on med heat until it browns, no oil nothing, and it kind of has this crunch to it and it is great. Hope you try it.

2-Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet? BRING IT ON!
donna12 replied to HelloGoodbye's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh the glory of the 2 week liquid diet, oh how I remember! The first 4 to 5 days are pure H*&^! It's awful, your body is detoxing from carbs and sugar and you want so bad to eat but if you can make it thru those first few days you've got it made, easy peasy. Make sure your Protein shakes are packed with protein, sf Jello, sf popsicles, broth or at least that's what I was allowed. I'm excited for ya'll, and your journey begins... You can do this! We are here for you. Donna -

wished I lived near you! dang it!!!! double dang it...plus we'd have a blast at Starbucks. -
I agree with others but I do drink hot tea after I'm stuck or it all comes up, it helps soothe things.

oh the infamous stuck episodes, sorry you got stuck and oh I've had my share. Most times I PB along with the slime and saliva and sometimes I throw up completely. Afterwards I find it for myself better to drink hot tea and yes be on liquids for at least a day. I hope you are better by tomorrow, it does aggravate things in there. hugs Donna

most are from Nigeria, and yes the language is a dead giveaway. Glad I didn't get one. Do they really think we'd respond, sheesh.

went for a fill today-didn't get one
donna12 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in today to see my dr for a regular monthly visit, I'm 10 1/2 mos post op and was expecting a fill but he decided not to do one. He thought since I'm staying satisfied for 4 to 4.5 hrs between meals and an occasional snack of yogurt or low fat string cheese, he thought I was good to go. Although my weight loss has been slow, it's been steady, 2-4 lbs a month. Just now have been able to introduce walking into my journey in the last couple of weeks so hopefully I will see a difference in toning. I totally forgot to mention hair loss to him, sheesh. My hair is thinning, I take Biotin but the last 3 weeks I've noticed it really is thinning out. Had blood work done by my PCP this week and all was normal except Vit D, he increased that. I'm wondering if I'm not getting enough protein. I'm not good at tracking, especially if I cook or make something homemade I'm totally lost on MFP. Now eating out like Wendy's chili (small) or Chick-fil-A grilled nuggets I can pull nutrition facts off internet. Tues I got stuck really bad on a DEVIL food choice, don't judge, i was craving a burger, so I got a Wendy's Jr cheeseburger and brought it home, well, like an idiot took too big of a bite and got stuck BIG time and ended up puking my stomach up it felt like, needless to say I don't want another burger for a long time. Surgeon today said to me and laughed "bet you don't want a burger anytime soon do ya" lol, and I replied NOPE! He seems to think I'm really close to being in the green zone or maybe in it, hope so. If I can increase my activity and exercise I'm praying I will see more weight come off than 2 to 4 lbs a month. -

thank you everyone for the encouragement and kind words, wow, I am about to cry at all the positive statements to me about my loss. Yes CG I just need to believe in myself, as you know my ex really beat me down and I just need to crawl back up again and believe. I'm bummed it is supposed to rain all weekend here in Western Ky and I can't get out and walk outside but I plan on going to the mall and walk as I do not belong to a gym yet. As far as the MFP goes, I just simply do not and cannot understand how to use the darn program as far as creating a recipe etc., sorry to be so stupid about it. Heck I can't even figure out how to accept friends on it, duh. I'm a lost cause on it I guess. I do however count calories, fat grams and carbs the old fashion way, paper! Bahahaha. Can someone travel to Nashville airport and I will pk them up and come here and show me how to use MFP, teehee. Plus then we could go shopping in Nashville too. woohoo. Thanks again for all your input. Much appreciated. Donna -

Oh please be nice. I was only saying that it is way too difficult for me to figure out how to measure food or weigh it as I do not have a scales (I want a really good one and don't have the money right now to buy one) so I find that MFP is really difficult for me, maybe I just don't know how to do the program. IDK, maybe I need lessons. lol. -

Hi all, I'm 10 1/2 mo's post op, at a stand still on my weight loss for the past 5 weeks, grrr. Maybe it's a plateau, hope so and hope it will end soon as I've introduced walking into my journey. I am ISO any books on lap band and articles that any of you would recommend. I have the Bandwangon book and loved it, was wanting to know if there are any other good reads out there? Cookbooks too that would be band friendly? At this stage in my journey I'm losing hair so I'm afraid I'm not getting enough Protein in my diet. My dr has added a Protein shake to my diet a day this past week. I see him for a fill day after tomorrow. Thanks guys. Donna -

Don't get it on Amazon, try and get it on here, there used to be an advertisement on this website to purchase it or you could post to Jean McMillan and she will answer you to order one. I think its like $20 something. -
I'm glad I read this thread and I'm 10 and half months out and still learning how to chew and take bites. Thanks 2much for your input I needed that!!!!! Yesterday I was sooooo craving a hamburger and so what did I do, I went thru a drive thru at Wendy's and got a Jr cheeseburger, I knew better, I know, don't chastize me, anyway, got home to eat it and about 1/3 in got stuck BIG time, I knew better with the bun and all, anyway, ended up puking my guts up which was not good for my band and I know this but ate it anyway. No more junk food for me!!!!!!!!!!! After getting sick I drank hot tea and then was on liquids for 24 hrs. Getting a fill tomorrow.

Finally! I'm 7 lbs away from weighing what I did in 2004 when I had an emergency hysterectomy and put on a lot of weight after surgery. I'm setting a goal for that number then my next goal is my goal weight. Lovin my band, best decision I've ever made for myself and my health.

welcome home catfish, welcome home! Don't go to Madisonville much but as you know I'm in Hoptown. I usually head south either to Clarksville or Nashville and on occassion will head to Evansville IN for shopping trips so I do pass thru Madisonville. Hope you have a wonderful trip home and thank you for the kind and encouraging words. Donna -
it was the best decision I've ever made for myself and for my health. I feel great even tho I've got more to lose. I know you are nervous and that's normal but when surgery day came for me I wasn't, I went in there happy and thought of it as a new birthday and a new life beginning. Here I am 10 and half months post op and doing things I never thought I could do. Wearing smaller clothes, eating healthy so yes it's worth it. Just breathe. It'll be here before you know it.

It all depends on how much you have in your band and whether you can swallow a pill or not. As for me I can't take a large pill so I ask for liquid, for instance Cipro is huge so I can't take it, not sure if it came in a liquid or not but they gave a Zpack instead. Capsules I can take, chewable vitamins I take but yes to answer your question if any antibiotics comes in liquid form do take it that way, its much easier.

thanks for the info, I'll give spark people a try and thanks for the heads up on the book, certainly don't want to invest in something that isn't worth while. Like I said, I have Jean's book Bandwagon and its a gem. -

2much I talked to Alex personally and he thought since I was this far into my journey that his book was for more beginners. He is looking into avenues of a 2nd edition which I'm excited about. I will have to ck out Pinterest out, thanks. I will also ck out the above links, thx so much. Donna -
I hit 7 days and finally took Magnesium Citrate, its nasty but works. I didn't drink the entire bottle either. Also now 10 mos post op I take a stool softener.

I'm 10 months post op and as some of you know my first six months were horrible, I was sick for the most part throwing up and nausea due to gallstones and gallbladder which had to come out Dec. 3rd so I had to go in for another surgery then. Backing up into November I got an infection on my left big toe at the cuticle and had eventually had to have the nail removed 2 months later. Since my lap band surgery I seem to be falling apart physically. This is the problem: Now my toe nails are falling off, I've had 4 now fall off and my hair is thinning. I take Biotin, Vitamin D which i was dificient in, in blood work last Sept. Has anyone out there experienced this with their nails? I know the hair can fall out and I think I'm getting enough Protein. My surgeon added a Protein shake to my diet but that just adds calories, ugh! I have an appt with my internal med dr on Monday in Nashville to get his take on it and I'm sure he will want to do fasting blood work. But I thought I'd see if any of you have ever gone thru this.??? Thanks Donna

Needs some advice please?
donna12 replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
elcee I don't know what I'm doing, I tried to track my food on MFP and it was just too confusing because a lot of times I make or cook food here at home and I don't know how to track ingredients. This past week I've been on vacation with my mom, luckily it started me walking my dog around the resort we stayed at so hopefully that will keep me walking now that I'm home. As far as carbs, I do try to limit them but I do eat them, protein is first, then veggies, then carbs. I go in next Thurs for a fill. Thanks for your input.
