After 20+ yrs in OA & still 317 lbs. this surgery was my last hope. I lost 32 lbs b4 the surgery as my insurance required & only 28 lbs @ 3 1/2 mos post-op. I can't find words for how discouraged I am with the results of this surgery. I've stayed the same wt now for about 5 weeks. I am so afraid this is it for me when I have sooo much left to lose (100 lbs). I wish now I'd gone with the bypass choice or lap band. I am so frustrated & ready to give up & go back to eating sugar & junk. I've already mentally thrown my hands in the air. This surgery was meant to save my life in more ways than one & now I don't care anymore.

Losing Slow At Very Beginning?
n2theswim replied to LoserMama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you thank you thank you! Hiya, I am 3 mos post op & have lost on avg 8-10 lbs per month. I had to lose 10% of my highest wt before my insurance would even approve my surgery so total since Aug 2010 (when my MD started tracking my wt) I've dropped about 67 lbs. I have 100 more to go to reach goal. Sometimes my wt stalls for more than a week & the scale doesn't move. It is very frustrating when that happens because I like to see the numbers come down & my biggest fear is that I'll stall for good & that will be all the wt loss for me even though I still have so much wt left to lose. Thanks for the words of encouragement here!! -

New To The Gastric Sleeve Surgery Board, Looking For Other Recovery Minded People:)

Hi, I'm Leslie & a food/sugar addict. Beginning week 4 Post-op. I go to local OA meetings & have for 20+ years w/ a lot of emotional, spiritual recovery over the years, but the physical always alluded me. I am following the diet rules as best I can. My main veer is mixing the protein shakes w/ milk.. I did well w/ wt loss the 1st 2 weeks, but have lost only 1 lb this week.. I don't want to focus on the wt, but I went thru this to lose it & I am frustrated by this early stall... Thanks for starting this forum thread... I am grateful to be among folks who are in the fellowship... -
Scared This Isnt Gonna Work
n2theswim replied to Njd1230's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Beginning of week 4 post-op & I too am scared that I can eat too much.. I have been on soft solids (mushies) for about a week now. But most concerning is my wt loss stall. The 1st week Post-op I lost 6 lbs, wk 2 -4 lbs. Week 3...just barely 1 lb. I have started exercising & bought some leg/ankle weights for strength training, but this early slow down of wt loss really scares me!! I didn't go through all of this to stall out after -11 lbs. -
I am so grateful for a successful surgery w/ no complications!! I was down 6 lbs on my 1 wk post-op follow-up. I am still on liquids & soups, nothing solid yet, but have actually felt hunger. That surprised & worried me. I have 100+ lbs to lose & want this to be successful. I've been told that once I restart solids I'll notice my food limitations a lot more & that it's not unusual for the liquids to pass very easily. Yesterday I had 3 protein shakes, a single serving each of yogurt, soup, & oatmeal over the course of the day. It's nothing compared to what I used to consume, but I worry I have too much capacity this early on (only 2 wks post-op). I have started back exercising pretty regularly too... Overall I'm grateful. Just a bit of a worrier...
