I have been putting off getting a new swimsuit for laps after my other one got too big, and I had surgery which has kept me out of the pool for quite a while. I couldn't find anything I liked in town (and the prices were astronomical) so I went online to Swimsuitsforall.com and found some cute suits. Got a size 10 per their measurement guidelines. Received them in the mail today and tried them on - too big!!! For the first time in my life I didn't have enough butt to fill the seat of the suit!! I am sending them back for smaller suits --- how sweet it is

Yes, I had the same thing happen. Basically your body is still producing liquid and you still have opening for that liquid to escape. It will slow as the openings close and start to heal, maybe a couple of days. I taped gauze over the openings and had to change it frequently. Kind of a pain, but this too shall pass.

Does weight loss usually plateau at some point?
desert19 replied to Iowa_summergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will probably have several plateaus as you lose your weight. I had 2 or 3 that would halt the weight loss for 4-5 weeks then it would start going down again. As I got close to goal I worried that I wouldn't be able to stop the weight loss. I went right past my goal and kept losing, unintentionally. However, my body eventually stopped where it wanted to be without many eating changes on my part. Even gained back a few pounds. Now I have to be careful of what I put in my mouth or I will gain. Don't sweat it, your body will decide what it's set point is, just keep eating healthy and getting lots of Protein. -
It is so worth it. I had my LBL done about a year ago. Best thing I ever did for myself other than getting the sleeve. I had anticipated so much pain, that I was surprised I didn't have more. The first few days were not fun, that is for sure, but never near the pain level I thought I would have. You will come through it just fine, just take it day by day. It will be so worth it when you look in the mirror for the first time and you don't see all that excess skin hanging there!!! Good luck.

You have all kinds of support here. Even though I had tons of family support it was me who was telling myself I would fail this time because I had in the past. I second guessed myself right up until the second they sedated me on the way to surgery. But guess what, I didn't fail and you won't either, because this time there will be something different to help you succeed, and that is your bariatric surgery. This will provide you with a powerful tool to succeed. You will have built-in portion control, which is something no other weightloss program has been able to give you. You will start to see that weight coming off which in turn will inspire you to continue to follow your program and keep succeeding. You will start to have that self image and confidence improve, and soon you will be able to do anything you set your mind to. Have confidence in yourself because you will succeed. The first step is showing up for surgery despite how scared you are you may fail. We are here to back you up. Good luck!!!

I had my gallbladder out about 18 months after my sleeve. My recovery was really easy, it was done laproscopic just like the sleeve. The only bad part was the pain from the gas they use to inflate the abdomen during surgery. That hurt for about a day and a half. But boy, I felt so much better after getting the gallbladder out!!!

I am having a lower body lift on March 17th and I have been feeling the exact same things! Hope everything goes well for you.

I have not lost my eyebrows, but I have lost about half the eyelashes on my left eye! Don't know why it chose only one eye! Got a prescription for Latisse from my Dr and it looks like they are starting to grow back.

I was pretty freaked when I had the same thing - thought I had done something to the incision. At my 2 week check-up my Dr said it was absolutely normal. It took a couple months for the pain to really go away. So don't freak out, just take good care of yourself. Looks like you are doing a great job so far!

Remember this is one small step towards something you want very badly. It is temporary and you will survive it. You are strong!!!

For Vets or 6 months post op!
desert19 replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You absolutely can. You know beforehand that you will only be eating a little bit and will be bringing yummy leftovers home for a couple more meals. I have found that now I actually enjoy the socializing and interactions of eating out with others more than I used to, because now I concentrate on the people I am with more than the food I used to be stuffing in my face. It is a very liberating realization! -
I'm a school teacher and wondering how long I should plan on taking off work?
desert19 replied to dinglehopper's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I probably could have gone back at 2 weeks, but I took 3 weeks off. I figured even if I was feeling pretty good I would still be trying to get used to my new way of eating, so I took a little bit extra time. -
I am 15 months out, and yes you will be able to eat a little bit more with time. But don't sweat it, there will still be a limit as to how much you can eat at one time. Your body will definitely let you know when you eat one bite too much.

This is silly, but I almost obsess over my collar bones now. I love to wear a shirt where they show. It is just a visual reminder of how far I have come!

noise from the misection?
desert19 replied to erikahdz2005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yeah, my kids think I am the funniest thing at the dining table. Constant source of amusement for the family -
We actually had a plastic surgeon at our last support group meeting and this same question came up. He said to wait until all pregnancies were done before having plastic surgery.

Get a suit that is made for lap swimming so the straps won't keep sliding off. Check out swimsuitsforall.com - they have reasonably priced swimwear.

I was so scared I was going to fail at this, like all my other efforts to lose weight. The sleeve is a very powerful tool to help you. As long as you follow the eating plan set by your dr and nutritionist you will lose. Some weeks will be more than others, and sometimes you will stall for a while. But if you keep at it you will be successful this time. Go for it girl, it will change your life.

Half the man i used to be. Litterally

Congratulations man!!! What an inspiration. I have always wanted to hike some of the Appalachian Trail - how fun you can do it whenever you want. -
I have hit most of mine along the way, so now it's time for some new ones. Need new swimsuit (but the thought of shopping for one still stresses me out), my son wants me to go jump out of a perfectly good airplane with him so I might do that, and I want to get plastic surgery to take care of all my loose skin.

I still have that problem with really cold water, so I usually try to drink room temp water. No ice cubes for me! -
Need some help from others who hate veggies.
desert19 replied to Taylor06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ummmm, never have like veggies, probably never will. I don't sweat it too much though, and I take my multivitamin daily. I concentrate on getting all my protein in and rarely have room for anything else. I do like most fruits, but only eat a bite or two. -
