    Helpppp

My surgeon had me on 5-6 protein drinks a day for 2 weeks(I chose Atkins). All the water I could drink. He said if I was really having a difficult day I could have 7 drinks. I only had to do that once. I was drinking the protein drinks about every 3 hrs. My hardest part was about half-way through, I wanted something crunchy!! Mysurgeon explained that this protein fast is really good at decreasing the fat in the liver. They have to move the liver to do the surgery, and they really don't want it to break. I just kept thinking about the end goal of getting to surgery day. I also found that distraction helped a lot. Don't sit around the house, get out and do something. I did get an awful lot of things done around the house those 2 weeks because I wasn't sitting in front of the tv and eating. Make a list of things you would like to get accomplished before surgery, and do them! Take control of your life, don't let food control it anymore. Good luck!!
  2. I only told 2 people at work who I trust to keep their mouths shut, I also told all my small family who are extremely supportive. When I was on the 2 wk liquids, I would go out to my car to drink them and read a book. I took 3 weeks off work, so I was pretty much on solids when I went back. We do have flexible lunchtimes at work, so I always go late, and there is hardly anyone in there. I eat my little lunch then read my book.
  3. I was self-pay. Once I had decided to go through with the sleeve, the thought of having to wait 6 months and jump through all the insurance hoops made me ill. I wanted to be losing weight those 6 months. I have never regretted it. I have seen my PCP once afterwards for a different reason, and had absolutely every interntion of telling him I did it, because I know he will be supportive, but I forgot! I will tell him next time.

    In Hella...

I found it really helped for the first while to track everything I ate, drank, exercise, vitamins, everything. I just wrote it on plain paper. It really helped me make sure I was getting everything in I needed to. Until you really get in a routine and get some "go to" foods you can rely on, it will really help. I even wrote down my feelings and stuff in a notebook that nobody else could see. Sometimes it just helps to write it down and get it out.
  6. I really liked to vanilla and chocolate Atkins protein drinks. It does get better, and you need to draw on that inner strength that has led you to this life changing decision. It is all worth it!!

    March Roll Call!

I was sleeved on March 14th and have been doing really well. I started mushies at about 2 weeks and haven't looked back. Everything I am eating now is regular food. Went out last week to eat for the first time and got a steak. That steak fed me for 3 meals and boy did it taste good. Also had my best week of weight loss this week, so I think I will start eating steak more often!! My weakest point is getting exercise in, but I am working on it.
  8. My Dr said I could drink coffee no problem, so I have been drinking it since aboutn 4 days post-op. I have 2 cups every morning with skim milk and Truvia. Thank goodness it was one thing I love that I didn't have to give up!
  9. I was having extreme vomiting for about a day and a half after surgery, then I made them change the pain meds they were giving me intravenously. (I had had a similar reaction to morphine, so once I remembered this I thought maybe it was the pain med. Found another med I was allergic to.) Once they changed the meds it was like night and day. Within 2 hrs all my nausea and vomiting stopped. Just wish I had figured it out earlier!

    March Sleever's Status Update?

I was sleeved on 3/16. Doing really well, but also went through the plateau. I added a little bit of extra protein and boy did that stall break - I lost 6 lbs last week. Down a total of 31.5 lbs. Unfortunately with all my walking an old injury flared up, so I have temorarily had to cut back.

    Where are the 50s ???

I turned 52 today. I was sleeved on 3/14/12 and have not regretted it for a minute. I have lost 26 lbs and of course would like it to go faster. But, I know if I stay the course it will come off. I have very few people I told I was doing this, so it really was satisfying when a lady I hardly know at work commented on my weight loss! Makes it all worth it.

    I Need Help....

I found that by adding just 1 more protein drink, it helped with the headaches.
  13. I am so relieved to find that others have hit a stall in their weight loss, I thought it was just me and I was doing somethng wrong, even though I was not cheating or anything. I had lost 28 lbs then I gained back 2.5 lbs in one week, I about died when I got off the scale - I was sure it was broken or something. I guess I will try some different foods, I have kind of gotten into a rut with my eating. Keep going to the gym or walking too. Thanks to everyone for letting me know I am not alone!

    Fruits and Veggies

Are there any other people out there that just HATE vegetables? I can't stand the taste of them. What do I do?

    March 2012 Vsg

Hi everyone. Just joined your group. I had my sleeve done on March 14th in St. George, Utah. Everything has gone really well and have found very few foods I haven't tolerated. I have even started walking!
  16. I agree the Mio flavors are yummy. I didn't care for crystal light.

    March Roll Call!

Rescuehoney - I am 1 day behind you. My dr started letting me have yogurt and cottage cheese after 3 days. I added scrambled eggs yesterday. I think it is what you feel up to and what your dr's instructions are.

    Secret

I only told my immediate family, my boss, and a very good friend. I felt it was no one else's business and didn't want them watching me under a microscope. My family, children and friend have been extremely supportive. I will deal with other people as need be.

    Where are the 50s ???

I am 52 and excited for my future. I had my sleeve done on March 14th by Dr. Tug Miller in St. George Utah. I spent 2 nights in hospital because of nausea. Have been home for 4 days now and doing really well. I took my first walk post-op today around the block and got really tired but felt okay. I have not had much problem with foods yet, but now I am to the introduction of mushy foods, so we will see. I weighed 245 at the start of the 2 week liquid diet and 237 lbs the day of surgery. Don't know where I am right now, waiting for dr appt to weigh. I am very excited and pleased that I took this step for me. Absolutely no regrets!

    March Roll Call!

Hello everyone. Just had sleeve done on 3/14/12. I am home and feeling really good. Just a little bit of discomfort at the incision sites. My only complaint is that I seem to gurgle everytime I swallow something! Anyone else had this, and is there anything I can do?
