    A disturbing article

I wouldn't put alot of stock into it. From what I got from it they were talking about older surgeries and my surgeon told me that things have changed in the last 10 years with the material used for the band and the placement on the stomach of the band. These changes were to prevent and improve the things this article were talking about. IT seems alot the the people in the study were in Europe. Not saying they don't have good health systems but I think we may have better hospitals and doctors. Just my oppinion.

    shoulder pain

They use gas to expand your stomach, and it takes a while to work its self out. For most people is comes out through you shoulder blades. Walking around alot in the house helps to relieve it faster. It bothers some more than others. It took me about three days after I had my gall bladder out. There isn't much you can do to get rid of it as far as taking anything medication wise. Hope that helps. You might ask you surgeon about it too.

    What Is Your Job?

You should be proud of yourself. You are half way to your goal and you graduated college. The job will come in God's time. I can empathize with you, I am back in school (at 40 yrs) and I just did find a part time job with the post office after losing my job 2 years ago. Keep your head up and keep on trucking
  11. Congratulations on your decision. IT is normal to be nervous so I am finding out. I get banded next week and I can't wait. I have become obssesed with LBT and I am here everyday now trying to obsorb as much info as I can. I don't want anything to take me by surprise. Your pre-op may not be as bad as you think. Imagine it as a starting point for the rest of the new you. Make mind of matter. If you get hungry drink some Water or find something else to occupy your mind. I look at as when I quit smoking. A craving would last maybe as long as 3 minutes and if I could get thru each 3 minute craving one at a time it was easy. I made it thru each one and it has been 4 years now. If I can do that I can do anything and so can you. Good Luck

I have been reading that on some other posts and I love cuties, I will miss them I didn't know if anyone know of a reason why I couldn't have one or two a day before surgery, if it would affect the size of my liver?

    need major help

We can not allow ourselves to wallow in self pity any longer. That is why I have decided to have the surgery. I am going to make this work or else. Just try to remember back to when you were going thru all of the pre-op and the surgery and how bad you wanted it then. You are not that far off and you CAN get back up and DO THIS. No more pity party, pick yourself up, FOR YOU. No one else (although you do have a little one to think about) make you happy this time. You are the only one that can do this for you. I have found the people here so loving and supportive and we will all be here to be a sounding board and help, but I have found it to also be a great place to get a kick in the butt and get me out of my pity party too. GO YOU

    Newbie

I just received my sample pack of unjury Protein mix and I love it. I have been drinking EAS advantage pre-mixed shakes and they are ok but I love the unjury so much more. I mixed it with 8 oz of decaf coffee and a little ice and just a splash of non fat vanilla coffee creamer. It was really good. Was like a frappicino. I am sure I will be ordering more if the other flavors are as good as the chocolate. Good luck with the protein search. As far as tyour boobs go, I am in the same boat. I have always had a larger chest as it runs in my family, even when I did lose weight and was 145 lbs I still had them. But since then I have had a child and nursed her for a year and now I am 10 years older and have gained a 150 lbs, so I am hoping mine are still there when I lose this weight too. I do the doing a lot of reps with dumb bells will assist in building the chest muscles back up. Wishing you luck and God speed on your surgery, my date is the 17th.

I need some opinions. I love cuties clementines and I am on my pre-op diet that consists of; 2 protein shakes, 1 cup of cottage cheese, 3 cups raw vegtables, 1 can of progresso light soup a day. My question is does anyone thing having a cutie or two a day will hurt? I am losing weight as instructed to shrink my liver and I am sticking to the rest of the diet just fine, I just like to eat the cuties and they are helping with the protein overload and the blockage problem that causes, if you know what I mean. Any oppinions would be nice thanks

    So sad

I too am nervous and questioning if this is the only way I will ever beable to lose weight and keep it off. I will be 40 this year and I can not stand the way I look. I am heavier than I have ever been in my life but I have tried to take it off after I had my daughter and it is very difficult for me to even get a few pounds down. I have been working with the doctors and I am on my pre-op diet and have lost 9.5 lbs. I just keep telling myself that it is a jump start for after the band. I see no other way for me to get MY body back and get rid of this suit I have been wearing for the past 10 years. ( I was 145 lbs before I had my daughter) I feel like I have been invaded by body snatchers, and I am finding myself again. I think nerves are natural as this is a big surgery. I feel it is bigger than my gallbladder removal a few years ago. I also think it is the lazy me in there trying to talk me out of it, but the stronger healthier me is going to win out in the end
  20. I have told family and a couple friends. I am wishing I had waited until I had the surgery to tell most of them. I wished I had kept it to just my husband, but I had to make arrangments for work. Best of Luck
  21. Hang in there wnch911, I am on my third reschedule date. It may seem meant to be maybe.

pre op diet how hard was it?

I too am on the pre-op diet. I am lucky and it is not a complete liquid diet. It is hard, but thinking about the reward of having my body back is so great I can not wait. IT is all gonna be worth it.
