Total Loss Goals - how did you decide?

I was banded 8/1/07 and have only lost like 25 lbs so far that seem so slowwwwwww?

    Doing great

I am on the regular food phase. The doc wanted me on regular food for 2 weeks before my appointment on the 11th of September so I can tell them if I am hungry between meals or not. If I am then I need my first fill and if not then I do not need a fill. I think I am a little, but have problems deciding if I am just trolling for food or if I am actually hungry. That may seem wierd but I do not have a lot of practice at being hungry you know what I mean? I never gave myself the chance to be hungry so I am not sure if I would recognize hunger if it bit me. Ha!
  4. I had my surgery on August 2nd 2007 and am doing so well. Lost 8 LBS in the 1st 12 days and more now. I go to the Doc again on the 11th of September to talk about a fill and will be weighed again . I do not weight myself at all at home or at any other Docs office but my surgeons, because I tend to overreact and :)become a bit obsessive. Tee Hee, but thats just me.
  5. :faint:I have a heart problem and have had open heart surgery. I have a heart disease called HOCM. I flew through the surgery no real problems just a few odd beats that scared the staff at the hospital but thats just my heart and what it does.

    pain in shoulder

Ok so i had my band done Aug. 2nd and yesterday for the first time I got shoulder and arm pain and paim in the same side (left) on the side of the breast area. The arm is worse then the shoulder, it aches all the way to the hand. Whats up with this is it from drinking my soup to fast? Thought I was having some heart issues because of the arm ache. If all I have to do is eat slower and move more then FINE!! I'll do it.

    Pain following surgery

I had no pain at all. It is tender yes when I turn over in bed. I came right from the recovery room and got up into a chair . This was so easy for me. Now if it works for me and I lose weight that to will be a good thng. I was banded 8-2-07 so I do not know how I am doing yet and I refuse to get on a scale at home.
  9. I had a hiatal hernia repair and no sweat. I would never have known had they not told me. My recovery has been smooth , just banded on the 2nd of August. I can say that liguids are not filling me up however I am hungry.
  10. How is one to have a BM when they are on liguids when no real fiber is being introduced? I have never encountered this -problem ...as regular as clockwork but nowwwwwwww seems like a struggle. What am I to do?:help:
  11. I decided on the band because I am in my 50,s and this is a better choice for those of us that are 50 something. We will lose at a slower rate then the bypass Pts and this will give our older skin a change to snap back better. But the real reason for me is that I could always lose weight but could never keep it off. When i went off a plan i would gain and bring aboard 10 more Lbs then I began with. I wanted the band to limit my intake but with the use of normall foods like the ones that I cook each day for my family. I know I will have foods that no longer work for me but thats ok as long as a variety of foods can be eaten .. I also worried about the Gastric Bypass and all of the Malabsorbtion problems many of them have. My goal was not just to lose weitght but to get healtier and be able to maintain a nutricional balance and be able to absorbe vitimins and minerals , staying healthy. The band made sense for me, also I was a lower BMI but Insurance paid due to longterm heart problems that will be made better if I become thinner. Its all a personal choice and what each person needs.
  12. I am only three days out so I cannot say I am glad yet that I am banded, but I am certain I will be happy when I see results and begin to feel like a normal person with regular foods to eat. I am in the Full Liguid stage and doing ok but I do feel a bit hungry.

    2 Surgeries at Once?

I had a hernia in the esophogas repaired , guess thats why I had acid reflux, I also had a Liver Biopsy because Of a cyst on the liver, had it looked at and it was nothing to worry about, but I kept the Gall Bladder. They did ask me howeve before surgery if I still had a Gall Bladder but guess they choose to leave it.
  14. Got banded 3 days ago and doing well. I am bouncing back well did not even need any pain meds while in the hospital. I am just rather sore by the port area. I am having unusual feelings like I cannot tell If I am hungry or what. I know I need to take in calories but am supposed to stay on full liguids for 2 weeks then onto the Soft diet. I so far had a crean soup some protiene shakes and such. I can say so far so good.
  15. I have a true allergic reaction to some of the artificial sweetners....extreme case of hives within 30 minutes of ingesting them, they are not for me, thank goodness I have never been a soda drinker. I am being baned on the 2nd of August at least I am supposed to be. I was set up for March but chickened out.!!
