Hi. I am a 38/39 year old woman (my birthday is in September) and my starting weight was 242. I had my surgery on June 18, 2012 so I'm down to about 225. I live in Chicago and would love to buddy-up. I'm not a mentor at all, but would love to have a buddy for this journey.

Congratulations to everyone that are going to have surgery next week. The surgery is not bad. Remember to walk as much as you can the first few days. It will definitely help to minimize some of the discomfort caused by gas.

Hi NWgirl. I eat healthier foods, just probably too much. This week, I have caught myself eating until I get the full feeling, however, it's way more than what we should be eating.

Today is day 3 of the 14 day liquid diet that I have to do. Who knew that there are so many drinks with aspartame in them? Yesterday was a not so bad day, Monday was horrible, and today reality has set in that I'm not eating any food. I am proud of myself though because I cooked dinner for my son and guy and didn't taste anything to see if it was okay. I was tempted to eat the bacon that my son left from breakfast but instead I threw it away. I have come to the conclusion that I am very limited as to what I can drink, which is discouraging at times. I have eaten more jello this week than I have probably eaten in two years!! I have read that others only have to do a 7 day liquid diet prior to surgery so I'm wondering why I have to do 14 days. However, I won't complain as I believe that this will start me on the right path to healthy eating. If anyone knows of any creative liquids to drink on this diet, I could sure use some help.
