Grieving about forever
Houston17 replied to Yoli3925's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Yoli, I understand how you are feeling. My surgery is in April too. I absolutely LOVE good food! I had success with Adkins like you mentioned but I too gained the weight back. I believe the Sleeve will be the tool that we need to be successful. As long as we are eating our protein first, we won't have much room for all those carb things that get us in trouble! We can do this! -
Glad u are ok! Did they say if it was dehydration? Or, were they able to determine the cause?
-
So excited! I got the call today with my surgery date! I'm super excited and nervous all at the same time! April 10th will be my new beginning! I have pre-op testing on 3/26 and start the 2 week pre-op on 3/27! How will I ever concentrate at work for the next 3 weeks!!! I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas to get here! Yay!

Welcome Kishi! Sounds like you are doing great! There is so much great info on this site and great support. I just got my date today for 4/10 and I'm super excited!

Any April sleevers out there?
Houston17 replied to curvyweezie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello April Sleevers! I've been watching your posts but didn't know my date for sure until this afternoon! I have been going thru this process for almost a year. Denied 2 times on my insurance and tried to appeal but they wouldn't budge...... So, I'm self pay. I am scheduled for 4/10! I am so excited and scared too now that I actually have the date! I know this a normal reaction based on what others post on the site but somehow it doesn't sink in until you are actually going through it! Yay us! -
Almost 3 years out and lovin' my sleeve

Absolutely, you can tell a difference! Great job! -
So, I started the process a year ago..... After insurance denial, I am self pay. Advised the bariatric center last Tuesday and they are working with the surgeon on a date! I am super excited! I don't have a lot of patience with anything so this entire process is putting me to the test! Hopefully, I will get a date this week! Best of luck to us all!

To Puree or Not To Puree...That is my question
Houston17 replied to HOSS7123's topic in Food and Nutrition
Can't wait to see the responses on this topic. I haven't been sleeved yet....waiting on a date. I know the liquid phase will be hard but the puréed phase kind of grosses me out thinking about it! -
Congrats! Waiting on my date!

When we took our vows, we committed to be there for each other for richer or poorer... To be there for better or worse.... I know that this must be very trying for you and we don't know what you have been thru. Do you still love him? Maybe things will be brighter tomorrow. Marriage takes work! My husband can definitely test me but I love him dearly and don't know what I would do without him. Best of luck to you as you work to get thru this bump on the road of life!

My best friend is mad at me for having the surgery, and it makes me so sad : (
Houston17 replied to Hopeful in Rochester's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with the other posters about your friend being insecure about her own situation. Since she asked you to give her some space, I'm wondering if possibly with your excitement about your journey that you may be a little more focused on that when you are talking to her. I'm not saying that to be negative in any way. It's understandable that you are very excited about this but since she may be insecure about her situation, she may find it a bit overwhelming if this is the topic now most discussed. Just something to think about. I'm sure that she will come around. Be there to reassure her. Best of luck to you with your journey! -
Would you have paid without insurance coverage?

Would you have paid without insurance coverage?
Houston17 replied to Houston17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mactrio and Woman in me, even though I go by Houston on the board, I don't live in Houston. I am in Iowa but originally from the South (LA/MS). Any idea how the doctor would handle someone this far away from him? I've done the nutritional visits and the psych exam here since I was planning to have the surgery locally. Do you think that I could get the blood work, EKG, and gi work done locally? Do you think that I would have to fly down first for a consultation and then again for the surgery? Thanks! -
Would you have paid without insurance coverage?
Houston17 replied to Houston17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all for your comments and suggestions! I can't wait to call my doctor's office tomorrow to start researching the costs! I really want to do this! My husband has been so supportive! He doesn't struggle with weight and he can see how much this is hurting me! He told that if I wanted to do it that badly, then do it! He assured me not to worry about the costs! -
I confirmed with the coordinator that she submitted all my paperwork to the insurance on Friday! So excited! I hate the waiting game! I have my fingers crossed! I hope that I get approved this time! I was denied 6 months ago. I was missing the 5 year history since I skipped going to the doctor one year. Please keep me in your thoughts!
-
Well, I called the insurance today to find out that I was denied again! Last year I didn't have the 5 year weight history- skipped going to the doctor one year......... Resubmitted this year thinking, yes, now I have the 5 years! But wait, now the insurance is saying that I was not diagnosed with high blood pressure until 2011. They are now saying that I have to have the weight history and the co-morbidity for 5 years! Both for 5 years! So, I have to wait until next week until the surgeon's office receives written notification that it was denied. They can then do a peer to peer to see if they can get approval! This is crazy!

When do you let your employer know?
Houston17 replied to punzel426's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't told my boss about this either. I want to wait until I get all approvals and can approach him with all of the facts! -
I totally understand. I'm waiting on insurance approval. My paperwork was submitted on 1/11. I am obsessed reading all the posts and trying to pass the time until I get the determination from them. I got denied in July because I didn't meet the 5 year weight history. I skipped going to the doctor one year so re-applying now that we are in a new year! Best of luck to you!
