Here I Go Again (Scared)
Houston17 replied to victoriatxgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that it is scary to think about the "what ifs" surrounding the surgery! Also keep in mind the "what ifs" that go with not getting healthier too! I know we all have to be comfortable with our decisions but this is how I'm thinking about it! -
I'm still waiting on insurance approval (submitted last Thursday). Out of everything, I know the liquid preop diet is going to be the most challenging! Stay positive and remember this is just a temporary phase to get to our healthier lives! You can do it!

Thanks to all for sharing about the pain! Curious..... Did anyone half to walk upstairs to their bedroom when getting home from the hospital? All of our bedrooms are upstairs and I didn't know if that would be painful? Thanks!

Incredible job! You look great! All the posts are right on the mark! You should be very proud of yourself! Amazing accomplishment! -
I weigh myself every day and I'm pre- op. Over the years, like all on the site, I have tried many diets. I found that I was more successful when I weighed daily. It helps keep me accountable. When I go periods of time without weighing, that's when I put my weight out of my mind and before I know it, I've gained several, several pounds. So, I know that everyone is different. You will have to figure out what works for you! I plan to weigh daily forever!

What Shakes Did You Use For Your Pre Op 3 Shakes A Day
Houston17 replied to newgrandmother's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Havent started yet but I have to do the Ensure ones with 25 grams of protein. I bought my first pack of 4 and my husband decided that he loves them (he doesn't need to lose weight! ). I hope that I like them! -
Good luck! Sending positive thoughts your way! You will do great! Keep us posted!

I think Star looks good! And, she is much healthier! Remember, we are doing this for "ourselves" and we don't need "their" approval! Find those that will support you and be a positive influence to help you with this journey! I'm still preop but my coordinator said today that it looks like I'm on track for a late July surgery. I'm just going to plan on August and if everything works out for earlier, then even better! Best of luck to you!

I hope so! Haven't been without them since 2005!

Ok, I haven't been sleeved but have been researching and reading a lot! Don't give in to those cookies! I believe eating those will keep the cravings going! From what I can see, stick to ur protein or whatever is on ur plan! U can do this! Drink water! Maybe u r just thirsty! Find something to get ur mind off eating! Get those cookies out of the house so u won't be tempted! I'm no doctor and I'm sure that I'll need the support and reinforcement too! Just trying to help! . U can do it!

Has Anyone Backed Out And Tried The Pre-Op Diet?
Houston17 replied to angelakay2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
About 10 years ago, I went thru the entire process for the RNY. I got to the final visit with the surgeon. He went over my test results and wanted me to be aware that in my intestines, I had these little pockets that had a tendency to bleed. ( there is a name for this but I don't remember it). He said that he would still do the surgery. He wanted me to know if there were complications with the bleeding pockets with the re- routing of my intestines, it would make it more difficult to have treated. I left his office, went home scared to death of what I had just learned. My husband and I decided that it was just not worth the surgery and the possible risks. At that time, they didn't do the sleeve. My only other option was the band. I didn't feel the band was a good option for me. I got up the next morning and called the surgeons office. I told them due to the test results that I was just too scared to go through with it. They tried to talk me into the band. I had my mind made up- no surgery for me. I'm going to do these protein drinks, eat low carbs and exercise. I was convinced that I could lose the weight this time! Here I am 10 years later.....several more failed attempts.... Approximately 10 pounds heavier with now high blood pressure and high chlorestol! So, for me, trying to do it one last time still didn't work! I know this is a scary decision! Unless they find something in the pre- op test, I feel this is truly the right step for me! Good luck with your journey! -
