Typical Day Of Eating/drinking 1 Week Post Op?
MinaT replied to Uknown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@lady lisa, she is one week post-op. I'm not sleeved so this is something I would like to know (about how much drinking) at least - no eating for me for weeks on end but I'd love to know the approximately Isopure I can expect to have to take down (that stuff is nasty) lol. I only bought three bottles so far and it's 40 grams a protein a bottle. -
BigGirlVee checked in and she's doing well and has posted! Forensic, thanks for the information on your sister, SouthernDonna45, tell her we wish her the best! Welcome to June, to the following, which I added to the June compilation list : Pkehrer, Naturals, redbottoms82 1920-Zeta, Moms3boys

"worst Decision I Have Ever Made Update"
MinaT replied to 1maryreigel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm so sorry you had such a hard time, but what a relief to know that the issue is something that could be corrected and now you can be on the road to healing. I have had surgeries that didn't go well in the past too, scar tissue is not my friend, and it's the biggest thing that scares me about the surgery. My prayers are with you that you continue healing and you start feeling better soon. -
Alp50 we have a June compilation section and there are two that are having surgery the day after you with Dr. Kelly, Cristal602 and Crystalaine, maybe they will have some sort of ideal to help you out. My diet is much stricter than yours, I'm allowed 3 Protein shakes a day and sugar-free popsicles and Jello. I just know that my calories = a little over 600 a day and it's a 14 day pre-op shake diet. My surgery date is June 4th. Be careful with the cream soups because of the high carb & fat content, and hopefully someone knows better what Dr. Kelly expects than me. I added you to the June Compilation list located here with all the June sleevers. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/39508-june-sleevers-compilation-good-luck-well-wishes/

cissiesue - I got you down with the June 11th date, I think I noticed another post where you had the date June 11th and it wasn't the same as your profile. @BigGirlVee big old hugs to you. So happy for you and love the goofy smile, it's beautiful. Walk and thanks for checking in with us! -
Onikatn, stick with what is going for you. I will be on clear liquids 2 weeks, then 4-5 weeks of full liquid, then I move to mushy, then soft, then regular. This is to slowly reintroduce food into the system. I have met with people that are through my group and surgeons office and truthfully they don't seem to have these types of problems because they didn't start food so early. We're suppose to only try one new food at a time, that's it. There's nothing wrong with easing your way into food, and in the long run it's healthier. Good luck to you too.

Had My Gastric Sleeve On 03/19/12
MinaT replied to amanda0679's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am enjoying the recipes from Michelle "Shelly" aka (Eggface) http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ I'm on liquid diet still pre-op but I started saving up her recipes that will work for my entire family. She's got some great ones. -
If you can't eat I hope you can at least get some protein shakes in whether it's Isopure or Shakes. I hope you can get in to see a doctor somewhere, you seem to have had a nightmare of a time and I just pray something works for you soon, because you can't keep going this way. Something has to give. My best wishes that something falls into place and you and your sleeve can start working together to get you into a healthier body & frame of mind.

Glad you are doing well on your diet. It's hard I had a no choice 3 shakes a day and it's been okay. We have four that went in today (that I know of and that came to the June section to add their names so I can post it on the compilation thread) and we have two going in tomorrow. Wishing them the best of luck. 10 days isn't that log. Good for you and goodluck. Next week Monday & Tuesday is going to be very busy. Seems Mondays & Tuesdays are the big day for the surgery in the U.S. so the docs don't have to hang around on the weekends lol. It seems Fridays & Saturdays are bigger for those that have it in Mexico. Just a little something I seemed to notice June 1, 2012 BigGirlVee -- Dr. Coirin, Modesto, CA 2thenewme -- Dr. Jose Rodriguez, Mexico AChristie -- in Juarez SouthernDonna45 -- Dr. Alvarez June 2, 2012 Dizzle Ready2Bthin -- Dr. Aceves Mexicali

Pre Op Diet Started And Kids Driving Me Crazy!
MinaT replied to SweetSusie1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck to you SweetSusie1 on your pre-op shake diet. It's rough, this I know. Cooking has been tough for me but I make dinner, and I started exercising while they eat and after they are done I drank my shake. It will get easier, keep the humor. I see your surgery date is June 13, 2012, so I added you to the June Compilation list in 2012 Sleevers/June 2012 Sleever Section located here. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/39508-june-sleevers-compilation-good-luck-well-wishes/ There are a few having surgery on your date too. There are other posts in the June section you may be interested in http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/forum/198-june-2012-sleevers/ Good luck. -
Will try to be there. We have four going in tomorrow. Achristie arrived at her hotel and her surgery is at 10:00 am. Not sure what time the others are having surgery, but if I can I'll start putting in times. Of course since I will be going in on the 4th I won't be able to keep up, but the intentions are there

Sending prayers to one of our June 1st girls!!!! So excited for you guys.

June Surgery Pre-Op Diets Encouragement/vents
MinaT replied to MinaT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How's everyone doing? Doing pretty good here. Ketosis is pretty gross, I swear I need to brush my teeth so much and though I brush, floss and use mouthwash, I wake up twice in the night to go potty and have to use mouthwash and I still wake up with the worst breath. I haven't had skim milk in almost two weeks and I have that spoiled milk breath lol. Tomorrow is JUNE - HARD TO BELIEVE IT'S HERE ALREADY!!! -
Good luck on your June 5th date. Cat Scratch Fever not sure if you know but there is a section for 2012 sleevers and then it's broken out into Month. We have a list there of all those that are getting sleeved in June and I added you to the list located here. http://www.verticals...ck-well-wishes/ If anyone else is in June and not on the list, please feel free to post in the June Section so I can add you. Tomorrow is the Big Day for four of our members. You will notice on the list a lot that share your surgery date with you two. Congrats again and good luck! Freaking Out About Lovenox -- Anyone Else Have To Do This? Self-Injections?
MinaT replied to Patrick Curl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, relax and breath, nobody actually likes needles, but it's really truly not that bad. I have given myself injections in my stomach for a few years now for diabetes. There are children that have to give themselves injections in the belly and the needles are so very tiny. They will show you how to do it, and if I am not mistaken, it's subcutaneous so it hurts less than getting stung by a mosquito and it doesn't hurt as bad as giving blood, or getting an injection by a doctor. I promise you it will not be as bad as you think! X my heart! -
Crichard, stay positive, don't let this get you down. A positive attitude goes a long way towards success. Looking forward to hearing when you get the date!

Kspye, congrats and good luck with the sleeve. I am trying to remember and keep in mind that the sleeve is only a tool. How I use the tool is up to me. I still need behavior modification and work on getting my Protein in first and foremost, then my vegetables, my Water and then complex carbs to for energy. Sleeves can be stretched and like people with Gastric Bypass, they can gain weight, there is so many different variables in making the sleeve work for you. Not drinking with your meal, staying away from carbonation (including wine coolers, beers, pop, tonic water, champagne) all things, staying away from juices. As the days get closer to the sleeve, more the nervous I am getting, but I am chanting to myself, the sleeve is only a tool, the way I use the tool determines if I succeed. Best of luck to you.

Sobe Lifewater 0 calories still has carbohydrates in it, so I was told not to drink it. Propel Zero has 0 carbohydrates so it's probably a better choice. Black Cherry is pretty good as is Cranberry Lime.

Protein Shakes - Help!
MinaT replied to ladyarwenrose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks tlaff, I may just try that out myself. I'm almost off the 14 day pre-op shake, but I haven't had too many issues with Pure Protein 100% whey Protein Frosty chocolate, and after surgery may resort to that for the liquid protein phase. Since I cut out all artificial sweeteners except the one shake a day I don't have an issue. If I happen to chew a piece of sugar-free gum, have a crystal light and the shake, I get the headaches. I do not believe in artificial sweeteners, but when you are diabetic there's so many little choices. I tried a lower priced Stevia product called Purvia and it was so horrific. I am grateful I can tolerate Truvia, where some can't, but most of the time I would will opt for plain ice tea or hot tea. I honestly think there is more harm in these artificial sweeteners than real sugar, but I got to do what I have to do. -
Protein Shakes - Help!
MinaT replied to ladyarwenrose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand fully well the headaches, I had headaches for two days only, so I lucked out. I suffer severe migraines and I also have a brain tumor. I receive occipital nerve blocks and get botox all over my entire head (not my face) but my scalp, neck and temples. Even crystal light causes me severe headaches. sugar-free products (aspartame in particular) causes me severe headaches. I feel you I really truly do. I hope your doctor has a solution for you. ps I am allergic to Imitrex and other headache medications, plus I cannot take the excederin migraine, which is my only saving grace sometimes. -
Day 3 Of 32 Day Protein Shake Fast - Pre-Op
MinaT replied to Patrick Curl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 3 and 4 were the hardest for me. I know you probably heard this before but please don't weigh yourself every day or 2 or 3 times a day like I have. I am on day 11 of 14 day shake and I get excited then disappointed. I weigh every day and seriously....on less than 650 calories a day on 3 shakes gained 2 pounds one day. Seriously, i got so upset. I weighed myself a minute later and gained another pound lol!!! Maybe cause I'm a girl or a freak or whatever, but I jumped on the scale about 5 times and all gave me different weights, I bought new batteries and it did it again, i moved it, I became obsessed with weighing myself. This morning I hopped on the scale ONCE...and I hit 230 from 233 yesterday (I was 231 days before). I went from 240 Monday morning, to Tuesday 237, then down and then up and down. It's a mind game. I hear people lose 15-20 pounds on the 2 week shakes and I'm down 10 pounds only and tomorrow I may end up being 233 again. I haven't cheated once, I exercise every day I drink all my Water, I have exercised a few times a day and I keep busy. What you are doing is great and you should be so proud of yourself. I am really looking forward to your journey.
