How Do You Know If You Need An "un-Fill"?
Leimomi replied to bandedehs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was doing great right after my fill, but it was a few months later I started having like vomiting episodes sonn after having any kinds of meat or chicken. All of my foods are steamed cook.. I am not able to eat fresh salads and if I have couple of bites, I am in the bathroom vomiting. I will be seeing my doctor and see what we can do about it. The purging has been happening more if I chew meat or chicken and now steam fish too! I not able to handle any kinds of fruited or begs. Not unless I purée them. As many of us who are careful and chew chew all the time!!! -

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
Leimomi replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Each fill is totally different from the previous fill. From my own experience. For some a fill can be 2-3 which is workable for others a fill goes higher which is Working for them. For me I had to go up to 10 to11 cc and this working for me! So each person is different. -
I had my surgery almost two years ago and where I live there are no support group meetings. People who have had them did not have their surgery here in town. I have had a tough time just finding anyone who have similar issues and able to confide with people who are in the same boat as I am. I just had my 11cc lap band fill and so slow of losing the weight it has been over almost two years. I body does not create enough body heat to burn off the calories so I have to work twice as hard. I do have support from my husband, bless his heart he tries to understand what I am going through. But it is not enough for me to lose the weight. He has been the only one there for me and I know that he is frustrated as I am of losing the weight.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills

Hi Just take your time when it comes to eating. Just chew slowly And don't do what I did which I ate alittle but too fast like forgetting I need to take my time. I am at 11cc and I have been getting more results than ever before. I also have been making soups, soft foods For a long while. The big part is to measure small amounts or portions and I have notice results already . I do seriously track how much I eat and what u eat Through this food tracker. That you can down load onto your smartphone or computer. Have a great day! -
Usually after the fill, my experience has been similar to yours. I had to measure the amount of food intake. But in my case if I felt hungry after two to three weeks it was an indicator that I needed another fill. Just depends how your body is going to react after each fill. We have different reactions from our own fills. I am glad that have a dr that is willing to work with you which is very important. Hang in there, I know what you are going through just takes time to get use to the fill and each fill will always be different while you are slowly losing the weight.

Anissa, We are with you! -
I had my Gall Bladder taken out back in 1980 so I did not have to go through the procedure before surgery. I have not had any problems with my lap-band thus far!

Yep, been there and done that with all the research before my surgery. I know what you are going through. Its normal feelings of what you are going through. Just remember to not push yourself after the surgery, Being with other people in a support group has a lot of advantages, you will understand the process from other people's experiences in their post surgery. I am very happy in my lap-band since Sept 3rd 2010, I am very pleased with my lap-band choice over the RNY Gastric Bypass which I almost had. Let us know how you are doing after your surgery! -
How Much Weight Can You Really Loose With The Lap Band?
Leimomi replied to dv817's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We all lose or gain at our own pace. We are all different, but we share a common goal that is wanting to lose the weight. I know it is easier said and done, I have had lots of struggles of working towards losing my weight. I don't think about goals or how much I plan to lose because I really don't know yet! All I can do is be patient with myself and stay on the path and having wonderful friends and family that support me in losing the weight. They have witness what I have been going through for so many years. It's not fun losing the weight and I don't have fantasy of what I will look like once I do obtain the weight loss! There are so many times I could have a magic wand to help me lose the weight! LOL Hang in there and be patient it just takes time! -
Hang in there, once you know what you want..more power to you!

I choose the Lapband it was safe and losing the weight Would be a slow for me. I witness several of my friends who did the evasive gastric bypass and it has been couple of years now. Three out of seven are happy with their Decision. The rest are having a hard time with their gastric bypass medically. As for me I am at 11 cc from 300 lbs down to 272 lbs currently. I have to remember losing the weight takes time. It's a new way of life for me. I know My reasons for the weight gain a mixture of medical and personal but I know where I at each day. At times I forget during myself a sense so to speak I get frustrated with myself and I go into my self pity mode. I guess I need this now and then for a reality check. Lol I have lost my clothes size which tells me I am ln the right track lol Excess skin gets in the way lol oh well. It's been two years of having the Lapband and I am so very grateful. I look forward when I reach my goal. I would appreciate people to give their input where I am at its hard to get to any support group meetings. The nearest place would be by plane!
