    Not Banded.... Yet

I went to my OBGY yearly visited and was speaking to him about my weight issues after giving birth, he told me that after my husband and I fourth child that he notice I didn't lose the weight as fast as I normally did. I was referred by him to a weight management specialist in Charlotte, NC to speak with about the different opinion that I had. I don't have any health issues other then being fluffy as my 10 year old son call it, so I went to the LP meeting and my insurance covers everything but $440, i never had to speak with my insuance compamy the Dr.'s office did everything for me. I have had many appointments and now I'm down to my last 2 appointment. So with this being said your OBGYN knows your well because he has a record of your weight, and body changes have him write a letter to your insurance company with your weight issue and see if this will help. I even had a breast reduction (48D)to (36C)to my OBGYN's help. Remember they know you. Good luck. I'm 5'5 was 270lbs and now 260lbs and I'm not banded yet just using fitness pal. Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone I haven't had my surgery yet, but have done all of my work-ups preparing my for the surgery. I went in speak with the Dr. That will be doing my surgery and I was sure how much my insurance will cover and it was surprising to me that, I had my blood work done, EKG and have an appointment next week to finish everything else that is needed for the surgery to be done, with my insurance I don't have to diet before they will cover and I'm exited but a little scared at the same time. I have the best husband in the world he is so supportive of my choice of weight lost. Can someone tell me what is there to expect once I have the surgery done:-) Thanks to anyone and all that reply:-)
  18. Wow I guess thought that I was paying to much, my out-of pocket will be $440.00 and this will cover my fills and visits. I pray that your cost will go down:-) Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

    Hello Everyone

Hello I haven't told anyone as well, I think that's a good thing because we don't have to worry about someone asking how is it going and couldn't you have lost that on your own, or how could you afford something like that, or you lost alot of weight last but what happened this year. These are the things I hear people say to a co-worker that had it and she is so depress when they ask her about her weight. I'm new to this and I'm wanting to be healthy and live better. I have no health problems nore do I take medication for anything, being 270lbs and 5'5 is a lot. We can do this and it's seem to be a road of choice so we can do this. Woohoo we are doing this for change:-) 2012 we can do it!!!! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  20. I will my husband and I both said Noooooo, but I just wanted to see if anyone has had it done. Thanks for the reply :-) Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  21. Have anyone had this surgery done yet, I know that Southeast Bariatrics are one of the first group to in Charlotte, NC to offer this technique, this is the surgery I will be getting. I don't have any health problems and I'm not on any medication, just 270lbs over weight :-( as if that's not enough,I really would like to hear from someone that has had this surgery done. Thanks Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding with Plication Southeast Bariatrics now offers the newest technical advance in gastric banding—the Band with Plication or I-Band®. This technique involves “folding in” or “imbricating” the fundus of the stomach (“fundoplasty”) with two rows of sutures below the traditional band placement. This creates a narrow tube below the band. The band itself is managed in a similar fashion to the traditional technique with band adjustments based on patients’ needs. The procedure takes about an hour. Like the standard adjustable gastric banding, most procedures are performed as an outpatient. Recovery time is about one week. The potential advantages of the new technique are a decrease in band slips and an improvement in both the amount and rapidity of weight loss. Southeast Bariatrics is the first group in the Charlotte region to adopt this technique. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  22. So do you think it's a good thing to do, I notice that the stomach is small something like the gastric sleeve. Please keep me posted on when, you have this done. Thanks :-) I'm a little scared do to the fact that this can cause some bleeding of the stomach but it helps with slipping of the band, and this is a once it's done NO turning back thing :-| Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
  23. John you can do it, keep encourageing yourself you are your best cheerleader, I'm so proud of you keep up the Great work. Can't wait for your update repost. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
