ok, so my girlfriend that wants the surgery (but her insurance doesn' have the obesity rider) says to me the other day after I said I want to wear a size 8 (but I really want to wear a size 6) "don't go losing no whole bunch of weight because I don't like it when people look sick. that's going to be to small for you." Ok, first off I didn't ask for her two cents and second she must have forgotten I'm doing this for me and no one else. I've summed it up to one word "JEALOUSY".

Band to bypass Pre-Op
kparadisek replied to Still Misbehavin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
tzbandtobypass, what all did you have to do in the upper endoscopy? Is that the same an the upper GI? i've got to have one tomorrow. I got my band in 2007 and have waited entirely to long to decide to get the bypass. I hope I don't have to do a colonoscopy. At least the doctor didn't say i did. I wish you all luck with the bypass. -
Questions I should ask my surgeon
kparadisek posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, Dr. appt this afternoon. Any suggestion as to what questions I should ask? I've got a list but maybe I missed something. I can bring the answers back and share them with the group. -
Help! Being revised from band to RNY on Monday. I don't know what to expect!
kparadisek replied to PrincessErin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First let me say congrats on getting the revision at the same. I have to go thru the same thing but my Dr. Is making me do them months apart. The nutritionist told me to do liquids for two weeks after then puréed for another two weeks. Then soft foods for another week or two then I can gradually introduce a regular diet. I will tell u that she said the sipping is nothing like with the band that u will have immediate restriction and it will take an hour or more to sip for oz of water. She said the pain is about the same. You'll do great and I'm sure they'll give u a diet to follow before u leave the hospital. Keep me posted! -
Well I've told my kids, husband, two girlfriends ( which I regret because I think they'll be jealous, and my mom(she had it 20 years ago, and a close male friend. My daughter whom I'm been talking to the most since we are so close I decided to ask her if I'm talking about it with her to much says "yes I am, but what is she supposed to do?" I now think she's not interested but feels obligated because I take care of hrs since she lives in my house, is unemployed and not in college. I'm thinking wow and I just put gas in her car which I brought and I just paid her cell phone bill. Apparently I've got to get it together and stop letting all these people in my house use me. I vow as of today to just do me. I now realize I don't have any support. The husband and the male friend just worried about if ill loose my curves and my booty! I mean really? I'm just going to keep it to myself from here on out. I'm so diappointed????

Pics not much Difference
kparadisek replied to tink65's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You r looking good! I can see a big difference! -
Ok so I talked to my life coach today and she informed me that when I complete my 12 month pre op program on 4/17/13 I can schedule my surgery as early as that day that she will put the letter in the mail before time and that I'm approved as of that date. I'm so excited! I go to the Dr. tomorrow so I'm going to relay the message and hopefully I'll have my surgery date.

I have BCBS and had to do the 12 month pre op. I was told today that once it's completed and I do the requirements of the Surgeon office (which is the psych eval, nutrition eval and a medical clearance letter from my PCP that I am automatically approved. So if you had an prereq don't worry they should approve you anyway it's just a matter of getting your letter. Good Luck! Keep us posted!

Gave away clothes today!
kparadisek replied to Anniesmom12's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm actually looking forward to having to donate my clothes so that I can clean out my closets. Granted I've got a few pieces that I will not want to get rid of but I know when the time comes I will have to because I won't be able to fit them anymore. I think that will help me tremendously when it comes to time to make the final cut. Good Luck! -

January 16 nervous and excited!????
kparadisek replied to tsxo821's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thx that's music to my ears. I believe my friend doesn't have a tolerance for pain. Many have said they've gone back to work after one to two weeks. I have a desk job so I'm going to see as I'd much rather use my time for a vacation to an island. -
2nd week post-op stall... NOW I understand how y'all feel. :-(

On a roll - I'm getting excited now!
kparadisek posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so I've been doing the 12 month pre op plan per my insurance it's getting to the last 3 months so I had to schedule my nutrionist appt which I can do at the same time next week that I see the Doc to discuss my surgery in more detail. I was then told I had to do the psych eval and that's scheduled for 2/15/13 but I have to pay a $50 report fee and then the $40 copay. I'm smiling though because I was told my surgery should be around May/June. Any pointers for the pschy eval or the nutrionist please let me know. -
2nd week post-op stall... NOW I understand how y'all feel. :-(
kparadisek replied to Catgyrl68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard that it's common for stalls to happen. I just spoke to a friend of mine that had the surgery and she said she stalled for about a month and then the weight just started dropping from everywhere. So that's something to look forward to. I'm curious though she said that she was sore for the first 3 weeks and still didn't feel good after 6 weeks so I'm just wondering what's your thoughts since I see you've been exercising. Are you back at work/school now? -
Nutritionist consult and surgery center denied
kparadisek replied to agirlofaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on getting your date! Keep us posted. My insurance is covering the psych eval and the nutrionist eval but the pschy eval said I have to pay a $50 report fee along with my $40 copay. I've got BCBS. -

Lapband removal/bypass insurance approval
kparadisek replied to amvg85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the band about 5 years ago only lost around 30 lbs and gained back about 50. I have a lot of pain at the port especially if I lay on it. Had problems eating so they removed the fluid 2 years ago and the Dr wouldn't put anymore in. He recommended me for the sleeve but I've decided I want the bypass so here I am. -
Lapband removal/bypass insurance approval
kparadisek replied to amvg85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TLP1212 I'm so happy for u! Keep me posted! Thanks everyone! -
Ok, so I spoke to my Insurance coach (which I've been doing a 12 month program) and she said since I'm almost done contact my PCP to ensure that I don't need to be doing something else. So I find the number and call only to find out they've closed the practice and moved to another office. Now I'm awaiting their nurse practioners call to see where I stand. This is bothering me because they didn't notify me of any changes and so I hope they have all their paperwork together.

Lapband removal/bypass insurance approval
kparadisek replied to amvg85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've got to go through the same thing but I haven't gotten the approval for the band removal yet. They denied it the first time so I hope that don't deny it again because I had a 12 month insurance requirement and I'm almost done. Waiting to talk to the DR office today since my insurance coach told me I should make sure I don't have anything else I need to be doing. Congrats to you! -
You look great! I'm loving the sexy black dress! I also like the idea of no scale but I know me I'm going to want to way myself every couple of weeks. Maybe I'll use my wii fit since it has the scale on it.
