Fabulous February Post-Op's
kparadisek replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I have to ask my self this question since it seems that I never get to eat my food. I'm so sick of everybody in the house eating all my food. I brought three plums two which co workers asked for out of my fruit basket then I bring one home granted it's been in my lunch bag for a couple of days but I was waiting for it to get soft low and behold my greedy daughter ate it. I don't have any more lunch meals because the greedy man in my house decided he's to lazy to fix himself anything and ate all of them so now I have to ask why am I fat/severely obese when everyone else eats my food and drinks my diet tea. I've got a trick for them all I'm buying me a small fridge with a lock on it. I'm checking the net for one now. This is the end of me sharing. Sorry for the rant but I had to get it off my chest.

That's the thing I buy fruits for the entire house(apples, oranges and bananas) but I have my own drawer with my fruit (plums, nectarines, and pears), yogurts, and lemons and they don't respect that they eat theirs then they go for mine. I can't help it if I don't devour everything time I get it. I thought that was the point. Low calorie meals aren't even safe. Granted they have all their own foods, I have my lunch items so why buy them for myself if I don't get to eat them. I end up having to buy lunch at work and you know healthy options are limited when all you have around your job is fast food. By the way these are not little kids I'm talking about my children are 19 and 20 and unfortunately home all day (not in college or working at this time) so why should it be okay to eat all my stuff? I buy the husband his own lunch food as well and respect the fact that it's his but he doesn't show me the same courtesy. I'm really fed up. I don't know where I'm putting the little refrigerator but I'm surely buying one.

Fabulous February Post-Op's
kparadisek replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to you all on your weight loss. I haven't had my surgery yet but decided to see how others are doing post op. I've noticed several people talk about not being able to drink water and I think to myself "I hope that's not the case with me because I love a bottle of water with ice chunks in it." I'm also now preparing a list of things I will need post op like my meds, vitamins, supplements, protein shakes, etc. Thank you all for keeping me motivated and sharing your ups and downs of your journey. I too will be band to bypass so it helps to hear what to kind of expect for the pain level. I want to wish each of you continued success and I'll be checking in probably daily! ???? -
Welcome aboard! You can find a lot of helpful info here as well as support! Good luck on your journey!

I've been reading post on here and some people are mentioning staples. Do u get staples with the Lap RNY or is that just for people with the open bypass?

Body image issue
kparadisek replied to DreamInColor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard a lot of people say on here that they can't tell the difference. I think that with all the dieting I've done over the years I've always noticed it in my clothes but never through my image. Why don't you do the side by side comparison from before surgery to your current post op I'm sure you'll see it and it's true that we get use to how we envision ourselves so I think it's natural that others will take notice before we do. I'm proud of both of you! Another you can try is to put on a pair of pants, a dress or a shirt that didn't fit before surgery and compare how it fits now. I'm sure I'll probably go through the same thing when I have my revision since that's how it was for me when I first got the lap band in 2007. -
Well I'm jealous! LOL! I had to do a 12 month program before they would give the approval so April 17th marks the date. I can have my surgery that day or anytime there after. I hope they do it in the month of April that would really make me happy! Congrats to you both!

Psychological Evaluation Done!
kparadisek replied to TxDumplin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my pschy eval on last friday. She asked me about past attempts at weight loss, health questions, my goal, family relationship questions and gave me brief info about some of the people she's helped after surgery that may have had some post op issue with relationships. It took about an hour and it was very relaxing. -
Post op what is your typical meal when you are out with your friends for happy hour/dinner? I've been told that soup is a good one that want make it look as if you're starving yourself.

Help! Being revised from band to RNY on Monday. I don't know what to expect!
kparadisek replied to PrincessErin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Newbie, how did your surgery go? I just spoke to the Nurse Practitioner/approver or whatever her title is and she told me that both surgeries could be done at the same time so don't pay the Dr. any attention. I guess that explains why I felt his visit was scripted since he told me previously that both could be done at the same time. She said I don't have anything to worry about and that they have not denied any removals after the 12 month pre-op. I'm relieved to hear that. -
Band to bypass insurance question

I've got to have my band removed and bypass the same day. Did anyone have problems with their insurance approving the removal?
-
Hello! I guess we have a similar story the Dr and the nutrionist want me to have the sleeve but I want the bypass. They gave me all the same reasons they gave you but I know a lot of people who have done really well with the bypass. I'm one of those ones that tried the lapband at first and now have to have a revision. I just don't want to go with the sleeve and risk having to revise to the bypass down the road. The way I figure I should go for what I know. Good Luck with your decision. Keep us posted.
