  1. Just curious as to why we need to see a physical therapist ??? I have my appt next week but may have to cancel since I don't think the ins will pay for two PTs. I am having PT on a severely sprained ankle with a different place. Hmmm..... Goldthimble:help:

    Physical Therapy?????

This is very strange. But I did have to make an appointment with a PT. I guess I will have to call the co-ordinator and ask why. I never question it at my appt., I thought it was part of the process. Thank you for your replies. Goldthimble

  6. Hi all, I am also waiting. I spoke with my PC today and they have been in contact with the coordinator in the surgeons office and they have my paperwork and will be contacting me to set an appointment. I can't stand the wait now that I know what I want. I can think of nothing else. We are traveling to Florida the end of April to our timeshare and I do not want to go this year. The thought of putting on a bathing suit scares me. My biggest fear is the ins co saying no. They would not even talk to me. Said they had to talk to my PC not me. I have a BMI of 37, been on one diet program after another for 30 yrs, Arthritis in my knees and low back, high cholesterol, shortness of breath, reflux and underactive thyriod. Thanks for letting me vent. Best wishes to all. goldthimble

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

:help: Is there anyone out there with a low BMI that had or has Harvard Pilgrim Insurance. I am waiting for my doc office to call and let me know what they say. I tried to call but gotpoint blank told that they would only talk to the doc about my questions. I so have my heart set on the band. This thread is the best and I wish everyone the best in the new life you are creating. I know I am tired of the aching knees and having no energy.:cry Goldthimble

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

I called my insurance and got a nasty e-mail from the department head and was told they would only talk to the doctor. I sent one right back telling them I wanted to make sure I could pursue surgery or was it a waste of my time since I had a BMI of 37. Linda:mad:

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Good Morning to all, I am in the first stages with a BMI of 36. I am at 200 lbs and I am 5' 2'. I have high cholestrol. under active thyriod, arthritis in my low back and knees, Reflux, and my blood pressure is borderline (145/80). I come from a family of 6 girls and one rather skinny, blue eyed, blonde, curly haired brother. Two of my sisters (almost 300 lbs) have had gastric bypass(not for me) and one sister who is 400+. I just heard about the band last month and have done a ton of research on it. It sounds like the tool for me. What have you used for proof of weight loss ( reached goal with ; Jenny, WW, Medifast, & Nutrisystem) and does anyone have Harvard Pilgrim. I spoke to someone else but they are over 40 BMI. Best of luck to all Goldthimble

What to ask my PC ????

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for all the feed back. I am anxious to talk with my PC. Good Luck to all of you Goldthimble
  17. Hi, I am new to the board. I have been lurking for a few weeks. Asked some ins. questions and got great answers from someone on the boards. I have been to one informational meeting and will be going to my second next week. I also will see my PC on Tuesday and wondered what I should say to him and what I need from him to take to the surgeon for approval. Like many I have done diets, WW I reached goal 23 yrs ago , Jenny Craig reached goal 8 yrs ago, Medifast reached goal 3 yrs ago, not to mention SB, and nutrisystem (2 yrs ago & lost 2lbs in 6 wks). This last time I gained back so much I don't want to leave the house. I also have 5 sisters and two have had gastric bypass (over 300 lbs) And two sisters over 300 who are not in any hurry to take care of themselves. My BMI is 36 and I have several co- mobidities. Any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. I have done much research and am ready to get on with my life. Oh I also have a wonderful husband of 35 yrs who loves me enough to support my decision and still likes to chase me around. I just can't move as fast. Thanks and God Luck to all. :help:

    Harvard Pilgrim Ins

Thank you for the quick reply. I noticed you had yours done in Lowell. I went to a seminar in Manchester NH. I see my PC in two weeks and will be asking him to refer me. I was wondering if HP Ins gave you any trouble and how long did they take to okay it. I have a few co-mobidities. The nutritionist in Manchester said family history was one of my strong points. I have arthritis in my knees & lower back as well as high cholesetrol which has only been since the spike in my weight. I have done so many diets over the years and spent more than the surgery cost to fund the diets. I feel defeated right now. Thank you for taking the time to answer me. Linda
  19. Hi, new to the forum, I am in the begining stages of banding. I have two sisters that have had gastric bypass. Not what I wanted. I have Harvard Pilgrim ins and wondered if anyone else out there had them and what they want to approve the surgery. I have fought my weight for over 25 yrs. I have done so many diets and now I am tired of it. My weight has balloned in the last 2 yrs. So with much research I have decided to go the banding route if I am accepted. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Linda
