Try a baby spoon and fork. I was given a baby spoon by my dietitian and laughed in her face. Like I'd use that but you know what I do. I even went out an bought a few more. I have small children and they had baby forks which work well. You can't but a big ass bite on one of those forks... I am a big chew spit out person. Cookies, chips just to get the taste in my mouth then out it goes. My husband thinks I'm totally gross! But hey we are still human.. I'm sure a little goes down when I do this but I miss real food somedays. Good luck and try the baby spoon and fork!

All up to your doctor and dietitian. I was told 2 weeks clear liquids but I read others only had to for 1 week? Ask your doctor to be sure. Good luck to you!

Oh I hope that is not true. That berry junk you drink makes me really sick. I just had surgery on 10-8 so my first fill will not be till mid November. I better check into that.. Thanks for the heads up!

Hello~ My surgery was on 10-8 I'm doing really well on the weight loss. I'm down 18 almost 19 pounds:) I do feel full after a few bites. Like tonight I got a frozen yoguet for a treat and I'm not even half done and feel full. Same with 2T of mash pot and 1tea of apple sauce. So does that mean I might not need a fill right away? Any ways question is- I can do small cottage cheese now can I mix in 2 T of peanut butter for extra protien? I did not think to ask that before. I'm having a hard time dealing with to much milk products now. So I'm not getting in the 75 grams of protein a day. Then I tried soy and I don't think that my body likes it either.. So as long as I don't drink more than a cup or 2 of the milk I'm okay. What other foods can I eat to give me protien?? HELP!! THANKS!

Clear Liquids driving me mad...
GingerRenayd2 replied to knitchique's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You know it is really confussing. Every doctor wants a different thing. I had my surgery done in Indiana 10-08 and my Doc says 2 weeks liquid. I CAN NOT DEAL! I have not been too bad. Last night I opened a can of chicken noodle soup picked out the chicken chunks then ran it in the blender. OH MY GOD!! It was so damn good and after 1/2 of a cup I was fine. The big thing my doc pushes is 75 grams of protien. Which I thought was cool until I got so sick the other day. Turns out I can not have milk products now. Maybe in small amounts. I am 10 days post op today and I thought okay the soup was okay I'm hungry I'm going to eat breakfast. I fixed 1 ounce of CoCo wheat. I used a baby spoon and took like an hour to eat it but that was 6 hours ago and I'm just now starting to get hungry again. I'm going slow on foods and do not want to hurt my body. Its hard! Email me if you want to talk more GINGER SecretShopGinger@aol.com -
I think with any surgery you take the risk of death. I am very pleased with my Doctor and with my choice of getting the band! Funny, I was waiting in the DR office and this lady had her mind set on the Y surgery. My guess her weight was 250. Unless you want to be a size 5 in 6months and take that health risk-I just can't understand why more people are not wanting the band. It is so much safer than the Y. Oh well!

I hated that mine was moved but I only had to wait 2 days. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

I have that arm gas pain too. My surgery was 10-08-03 I feel better today but the arm pain it is still hanging on. The healthy vally chicken broth is good. It has 7gram of Protein and has a nice taste. not real salty. I had to get the kids up for school this morning and that was hard for me. My body was still in sleep mode. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU Here is my link about my surgery http://hometown.aol.com/secretshopginger/myhomepage/index.html

NOT ME! I had my surgery done in Indiana by a great doctor-Dr. Evanson He has been doing and watching the lapband surgery for 3 years now. He said if you can get liquid down and if he sees no problems durning surgery than no upper Gi before you leave the hospital. If you are doing okay with liquids there is really no reason to put you though the grossness (if that is even a word) of the GI. I'd ask your doctor. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

I just had my durgery on Wed 10/08 anyways The doctor told me I needed 75 gram protein a day. Well I mix 1 cup chocolate soy milk 1 cup 2%milk 1 pack of carnation and 1/3 cup of dry milk. It is almost 30 grams and it very good. I just am not liking the premixed shakes from GNC. I just sip on a little at a time 3-4 times a day. GOOD LUCK!
