Hello! I live in South Wales. I am now on day 9 post op. How are you doing so far?
-
I will be thinking of you tomorrow...best of luck and you will be just fine. Tomorrow will be the beginning of your new adventure health and happiness.

I am boiling together some carrots, parsnips, onion and swede for next week. Lentils with onion, any type of beans cook nice and soft with things like garlic, onion. Rice pudding. I am still trying to get my menu in order since I am excited and scared to try anything besides liquids...LOL.

Today is so much better, the pain is almost gone completely and I am now able to walk just over a mile at a pretty good pace. It is amazing how much diffence a day makes. Just waiting for the bloated toad stomach to go down and things will be good. I sure have drank my fair share of peppermint tea. That helped with the gas pain it seems. It does get better believe me. I still can't eat much though and still sipping water carefully.

Wow, week one is now done. In this week I feel as if I have climbed a mountain. I have gone from excitement to fear, fear to banding, banding to my new way of life. In one week I have managed to go from walking a few steps to walking now up to one mile (today). This first mile kicked my butt, but I did it. Tummy doesn't hurt at all, just tugs a bit but gas is fighting its way out of my shoulders and escaping quite easily from every other exit. I still have no appetite even though food smells good, the thought of eating it just isn't there yet. I am struggling to get in my soup and shakes, one because I am not hungry and two, when I do try and sip them it is just uncomfortable. It seems to take me forever to get down 4 tsps of liquid. Water doesn't seem to be such an issue but I find myself trying to chew that as well. Bring on week 2……my goal for this week is to continue to obey the rules and do my mile walk in a little less time. Also I have lost 10 pounds. How is everyone else doing?

I will be praying for you and best of luck. I will be honest and say I had doubts right up to them wheeling me into OR. Here I am 6 days later and have absolute no regrets. You should be proud that you honor yourself enough to do this. Keep telling yourself this is worth it and you have the opportunity now for a healthier and happier future. Keep me posted as to how you go. -
Congrats mih! I am on day 6 post op and must say things are looking really well. I am slowly getting back into the housewife routine. I think your Mom was right because it was day 3 that it hit me...LOL! No regrets on this end and like you, excited about the journey. Take care and I look forward to hearing about your healing and your success.

This might not be the place but how do you add your ticker to your profile. I have one set up in lilyslim but not sure how to put it on here.

I got a few jars of that as well. If nothing else a change of taste from shakes. Today is day 6 post op and I feel 100% better. I actually slept through the night. Yipee! Will not over do it today but it sure feels good to not have that intense shoulder gas pain this morning. I see sunshine!

My cousin who is one of my best friends said she was dissapointed in me. She was hoping I would start this fad diet with her and now I let her down...that was Monday after I got home. I asked her today how her diet was going.....she said she had to stop because it made her feel sick. My other best friend told me congrats and she will do whatever it takes to help me. She needs to lose 10 pounds and she said we will do this together. There are those that understand me, support me....those who don't.....won't. I will surround myself with those who will.

The pain in my shoulder is so much worse today. I have a heating pad on it but boy is it uncomfortable for some reason. Is this normal for 5 day post op? Usually laying down with the heating pad helps in minutes but not now. I did have a bath though and leaned over the tub to wash my hair. I guess I might have overdone it. I hear a lot of gurgling in my tummy but not from hunger.
-
I am allowed protein shake but nothing feels good inside. I have thinned out a shake with milk to help but just not hungry.

So funny you should compare your lapban journey to your marraige. I was pregnant when I got married so it was a rushed ordeal. I had my consult for my band on Tues. and surgery on Sunday. I guess I keep the same patterns. My marriage has been a wonderful 33 year journey and so I am hoping my band will be the same and more.

I am on day 4 post op and still not hungry. I have stomach gurgles but don't feel like putting food inside. I have stuck to the liquid diet of thinned out yorgart, thinned out soup and thinned out shake with yogart and I mean it is all pretty thin and I take small half teaspoons at a time. I sip water all day.

Feeling Full Vs Stopping Eating Vs Satisfied... When Are You Done?
Sal58 replied to Trinity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad I got the chance to read this now. I am just getting through day 3 post op. Still not hungry but this information has been so helpful. It gives me something to think about when I get to the solid food stage. Right now I dip a teaspoon in some thin soup, let it drip off and then just eat what is left. Can manage about 4 spoon fulls right now. Right now everything is uncomfortable. -
I started walking around the hospital ward 2 hrs after surgery. It was not pleasant but it felt better than sitting or laying down for some reason. I was an avid walker before the surgery so I think that helped. I do a lap around our little loop on our street once a day and I can tell you I am exhausted by the time I get home. I do nap during the day still but so far have managed the pain with paracetomal. I am allergic to codine so coudn't have anything stronger. I just keep reminding myself that it has only been 3 days. The shoulder gas pains are at a mininum now. Just uncomfortable going from laying to standing. Insides don't like the shifting. I know it will get better and I am looking forward to doing longer walks as the days progress. I know to give myself time.

I do sip water through out the day. I am not really hungry yet but feel I need to put something other than water and mint tea in my tummy. I do have to take is slowly, almost feel like I chew my water even...LOL. I dip my spoon in the liquid food and then just eat what is left after pouring it off. I do burp a lot though especially after sipping water.

This is day three for me as well. I have found warm tea eases my stomach since I am not sure if it is gas or what. I am on thin soup for dinner and protein shakes in the morning. I have tried thinned down yogart with milk feels good as well. How are you doing other than the apetite? Are you able to walk much yet? I am still sore.

I had my procedure done Sunday so recovering right now. Only my husband and cousin know...not ready to tell family and not sure I will. I don't think they will understand. Best of luck on your weight loss journey. I don't regret one minute of it.
