Hi everyone! I'm only 9 days post-op, but I'm worried I may not be getting enough calories. My surgeon's paperwork doesn't specify calorie goals. I figured about 800, but I'm not even getting 500. Should I be worried or will I get more calories in once I start soft foods? Thanks for any advice!!

you burn calories even when resting. the majority of people burn 1500-2000 each day. this does not include exercise. if you eat 600 calories you still have burned approx 600. if u exercise that is more calories burned

it could, yes. sugar can make you sick. have you tried a real lemon or something similar? just an idea

What Did You Tell Your Kids?
shellbell33081 replied to VMiller's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my daughter is 5. I told her I was going to have surgery to make my stomach smaller. She's had 3 surgeries herself so she understands more than most kids her age. I wasn't afraid to tell her the truth. You know your kids better than anyone. I wanted my daughter to understand and if she tells the world, oh well! lol She's been telling people I can't eat food and I have to drink. lol It doesn't bother me, but rather, makes me proud that she understands somewhat. -

Lets Talk About This Drain
shellbell33081 replied to FatGirlSlim's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
taking the drain out is no problem, no pain. however, it was painful while in. not everyone will have this discomfort, though! if you're going to mexico, it's only a few days. walk as much as possible. good luck! -

Crabby And Sick Of This Post Op Diet
shellbell33081 replied to linkybo's topic in Food and Nutrition
I really feel for ya! i've never heard of anyone being on liquids for that long. and no sf jello? that's a clear liquid! it seems you are strong, though, and will make it through this. think about the weight you will lose. i saw somewhere that "life starts at the end of your comfort zone". we will all be stronger in the end...and sexier!! -
we were sleeved the same day! i've only lost 10lbs since pre-op, but i'm still swollen and have some womanly issues to deal with LOL sorry if too much info i look forward to seeing your future success!
