Dr. Garcia In Tijuana
shellbell33081 replied to jeffmanion's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Kat1, I went alone and never had any problems Tijuana is much safer than uneducated people would like you to believe. Dr. Garcia and his staff are awesome! You'll love the Marriott, too! The hotel is very, very comfortable and quiet. I walked from the hotel to the local Wal-Mart without any trouble and never felt unsafe. -

i received a lot of negative feedback, too. when people hear mexico they freak thanks to the media. i went alone to tijuana and never felt unsafe. i walked the streets and loved it! don't be afraid. i have never heard of anything bad happening to a patient in mexico and i did a LOT of research before going. good luck! -

congrats on the weight loss! I do not have that problem, however, i have heard of plenty of gals that do. the surgery throws your body off. also, your hormones are out of wack as well. it should eventually straighten out. -

UPDATE: I went to E.R. last night. Everything is ok, just dehydrated. I was given nausea meds, an acid reducer, and I.V. fluids. I'm feeling better and hope the good feelings last lol. Let's do this thing!!! -
I paid $5000 for mine, in Mexico. I also feel the surgeon in Mexico are more experienced because they do more surgeries on a daily basis. It was a good experience.

tyvette04, i wouldn't worry about a leak. chances are pretty slim. make sure you follow your post op diet and i'm sure you will be fine. signs of a leak are fever, nausea, abdominal pain and chills to name a few. -

Is This Normal? (Nausea)
shellbell33081 replied to Anakin Jay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have something similar when I drink. Any time I take a drink I feel nauseous. I do not feel this way when I eat, though. I don't know what to do about it. I'm only 2 weeks post-op so I'm hoping it goes away. -

Here is an article on weightwatchers.com that discusses "starvation mode." I think this is something all bariatric patients worry about at one point of time or another. I found this today and wanted to share. http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=35501 -

Hi everyone! I'm 31, class of 1999 Just sleeved April 20th. I'm looking forward to wearing flirty clothes! lol I was thinking Buffy style(tv series not movie lol) I can be pretty flirty, but I haven't had the confidence lately. I hope that changes as the scale moves down! -
Mexico surgery if your not to tired to share.
shellbell33081 replied to silverpelican's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on April 20th. I had a very pleasant experience. The people that want to scare you about Mexico most likely are very uneducated about what Mexico is really like these days. I went walking alone in Tijuana(during the day) and never felt unsafe. Dr. Garcia, the nurses and other docs were awesome! Do your research and listen to your gut -
Dr Kelly Or Dr Garcia...i Need Help
shellbell33081 replied to sam74's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had Dr. Garcia. I intitially wanted to go with Kelly, but at the time there was a LOT of drama surrounding him and he had a death last July. My gut told me it was a bad idea, so I switched. My advice is to research and listen to yourself. I have heard Dr. Kelly is an excellent surgeon and I am NOT trying to deter anyone from going to him. I am only stating why I chose differently. I had a great experience with Dr. Garcia. Good luck to everyone!! -
Has food really made you happy? You had the surgery for a reason. You were unhappy about your weight. Well, food got us to the point we felt we needed surgery and therefore, food actually made us unhappy. I completely understand how you feel. I am also 2 weeks out and miss some foods, but I tell myself food is the reason I was unhappy. Chinese and pizza made me fat. I can't control myself with those foods so I had surgery to stop the out of control eating. I'm sure these feelings will pass. Stay strong! WE CAN DO THIS!!

Fighting The Urge To Eat
shellbell33081 replied to QueBSure's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is hard. I'm 2 weeks post-op so there isn't much I can eat. However, I still want chinese really bad lol. I know I absolutely cannot have it, but still crave it. I just stay busy and try to keep my mind off of food. I also have cleaned out my fridge and pantry so I do not have anything at home I can't eat. Good luck and stay strong! -
