I Found This A Little Odd.....
shellbell33081 replied to Amie's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
all i can tell you about those particular doctors is dr.kelly used to have a coordinator that now works for dr.ponce. maybe dr.kelly's office still uses the form his former coordinator used. i used successfully slimmer. they are based in alabama. -
Safety In Tijuana
shellbell33081 replied to scubadottie's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went to Tijuana alone and never had a problem. I never felt unsafe. In fact, I don't think the locals even looked at me lol. The Marriott is very safe. No one can use the elevator without a key and then it only goes to your floor. The whole experience was great! -
Hiding The Tears
shellbell33081 replied to Preacher's Wife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate. I think we all go through it. This is a huge change and we are out of our comfort zone. It was easy to grab a box of cookies, sit on the couch and watch a movie. That was what we are used to, but now we can't do that. It is really hard to adjust, but it really does get better. Hang in there and know we are here for ya -
Caloric Intake Is It Too Low
shellbell33081 replied to simplyQuel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hiya Hollie!! I've been getting my protein through food, but I'm sure I'm not getting enough. I plan on starting shakes soon. I had a lot of problems with acid and nausea and couldn't stomach ANY shake, no matter the brand or flavor. I think I finally have it all under control so I can finally use the protein powder that's been collecting dust! lol -
What Books Have You Read To Prepare?
shellbell33081 replied to I am done mooing!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr. Alavrez's "The Gastric Sleeve". Pretty good book. I keep it on hand for motivation and I used it for food suggestions as I progressed through each post-op stage. -
Has Anyone Felt A Little Withdrawn After Surgery?
shellbell33081 replied to wantingtolivehealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand! I don't hardly talk to anyone, not even my family. Everyone knows I had surgery; I was proud of myself for finally taking control of my weight problem. However, my weight loss and the surgery are all I can think about 99% of the time. NO ONE around me understands what I have been through or the struggles I face daily. I am hoping to get over it eventually because I don't like feeling so anti-social. If I didn't have this forum, I'd be lost lol -
Caloric Intake Is It Too Low
shellbell33081 replied to simplyQuel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We were sleeved the same day!! *High five* lol I'm getting about the same calories as you! It seems we are doing what we should be doing. I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I feel comfortable. I'm actually in a stall right now so I tried eating a little more than usual. I think you're doing great!! -

I love Dr.Garcia! The nurses were great! The hospital is small, but very clean. The Marriott is a dream! lol LOVED having 6 pillows on my bed lol. The staff at the Marriott is also excellent. I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost 24.4lbs. I only had a 5 day pre-op diet so that total is from my highest weight pre-op, Good luck with the surgeon you choose! You'll love being a loser! -

i didn't take my antibiotic. i know that's awful, but i was terrified of vomiting. i wish i could give u suggestions but i'm not sure. -
I was at my brother's house today and when I walk into the kitchen I notice KFC containers. There were some chicken strips, potato wedges and cole slaw. I didn't touch the potatoes or slaw, but I could NOT resist the chicken strips. I grabbed one and opened some BBQ sauce and ate a little bit. Well, I ended up eating too much(not even a full strip). It tasted so good that I took one bite too many. *Sigh* It would have been nice to able to look at the food and then walk away. This just goes to show that I still need to work on my head lol.

I went with successfully slimmer which works with obesity solutions(same as ready 4 change). it seems a lot of coordinators work together despite which company you choose. dr. garcia is an excellent surgeon. the facilities are clean and the staff is awesome. i didn't use almanza because i wanted to be in a hospital, not a clinic. everyone has their own preference. do your research and go with who you feel comfortable with -

i'm surprised you could eat the bread. i'm not allowed to have untoasted bread until 3 months out. i'm only 4 weeks. -
well, i would say your body is adjusting to everything: the surgery, fast weight loss in the beginning, new diet. how much did you lose pre-op? stalling is normal. be patient and keep doing what you're doing. the weight will come off. you may see inches lost first good luck!

Should I Be To Concerned?
shellbell33081 replied to jaymzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it probably wouldn't hurt to call your doctor. sometimes lack of caffeine can do it. if you're worried it's best to play it safe. -
