Mexico Vs Us
shellbell33081 replied to luckylady131's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on April 20th. I had no complications. I spent $5000 on surgery and $350 on airfare. I was very satisfied with everything. I couldn't afford the extra 7 grand or so for self-pay in the US and I also felt that Dr. Garcia was more experienced than any surgeons in my area. I was comfortable with my decision and very happy with my results so far. Good luck everyone! -

No More Weightloss?
shellbell33081 replied to Seemebetter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i agree with Lissa. i had the infamous 3 weeks stall, too. i tend to lose great for 2 weeks then stall for a week. our bodies have to adjust and it takes time. you've had great weight loss so far! hang in there and stay strong! -
Seriously Think I'm Failing At This..
shellbell33081 replied to hrtgoeson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
don't get so discouraged and don't eat the brownies! your body is adjusting to its new anatomy. stay strong and keep in mind that it hasn't even been six weeks since surgery. your body is still healing. everyone loses differently. i've had small gains as well, but i keep at it and the weight does come off. you can do this!! -
no prob good luck!

Sick And Unable To Eat

j don't know what could be wrong, but you definitely need to call your doc. hope u feel better soon -
do reverse crunches. you raise your legs and pull them to your chest instead of lifting your upper body.

Could This Happen To Us?
shellbell33081 replied to groovearmada's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
we should always be careful and not eat too much. we have this surgery to prevent us from over eating. hopefully, none of us will ever do something as damaging as that woman did. such a horrible tragedy. -

Two Weeks Out And Need Help
shellbell33081 replied to sleeve523's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if u know u r eating poorly then stop lol. the weight gain could be perfectly normal. about 3 weeks out i gained 2 lbs and hit a stall. i just kept following the plan and after 2 weeks the scale went down again. remember, protein first! at 2 weeks u shouldn't be past mushies so be careful. even if u feel ok u can still damage ur sleeve. -
It's hard to believe it's been over 6 weeks already! It still feels surreal that I went to Mexico, that I flew on a plane and that I had this surgery. I am down 34.6 lbs. I've already gone from a size 22 jeans to a size 20. My starting weight was 242.2 lbs. That was the heaviest I had ever been. I was in denial for a long time that I was really that obese. I didn't have any health problems, so I didn't worry too much. However, my habits were starting to rub off on my 5 year old daughter and the light bulb went off. It was time for a change. I tried Weight Watchers for the umpteenth time. I think all of you know how that goes lol. Well, long story short I was fed up and finally made the decision to have surgery. I did lots and lots of research and decided on Dr. Garcia in Tijuana. Everything went great! My experience was pleasant. I never felt unsafe. I battled a lot of emotions for the first few weeks, but I feel pretty good about everything now. I'm starting to get compliments and that's awesome! To anyone pre-op, it's worth it!! Thanks for reading!

Six And A Half Weeks Out
shellbell33081 replied to shellbell33081's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i still have some food restrictions. i eat cheese and lunchmeat, regular oatmeal, baked beans, peas. pretty much anything soft. i like variety so i don't have a strict food routine. i am not exercising yet, however, my job keeps me pretty active throughout the day. i plan on starting a walking routine soon. i've been sick so i've been set back a little. -
Mental Issues
shellbell33081 replied to beachlover1129's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fluids are very important! You need a minimum of 48oz. I know it's hard because I've been there. I had to go to e.r. and get i.v. fluids because I didn't force the fluids like I should have. I would not add boiled eggs yet. They are too solid for you at this time. Stick with what you've been eating. Cream of Wheat and Campbell's sippable soups are good, too. Taking it slow is hard, but we have to do it to avoid complications. Good luck! -
Six And A Half Weeks Out
shellbell33081 replied to shellbell33081's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
yes i felt that way! lol i also tried the insurance route about 4 years ago. i was thinking lapband at the time but insurance would only cover the first $10,000. things won't seem "real" until sometime after surgery. the weight will come off and you'll realize the sleeve was the best choice you could have made! good luck! -

Rheumatoid Arthritis Or Other Autoimmune Disease / Problems

i have pernicious anemia which requires b-12 injections monthly. i also have a connective tissue disease. i've been lucky and do not take meds. i'm hoping the weight loss will help keep it this way. -
every surgeon is different but mine says no untoasted bread until 3 months out. hope this helps!
