It really depends on the level of movement in your job. Most doctors want you off at least till after your 1 week post op appointment. I had surgery on Wednesday and was back to work doing computer work on Monday.

Consultation Appt
Lew_Lang replied to GeorgiaPeach2012's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your doctor is anything like mine, I had a very easy time. The insurance company made me jump through hoops to get the surgery approved, but the doctors office helped me through every step of the way. All my stuff was spread out because the insurance company wanted me to be on a 4 month doctor controlled diet. So I had 4 months to get all that stuff done. It has been a wonderful experience and I have so far lost 128lbs. You will look back at your journey and smile knowing that you took a huge step in the right direction. Good luck! -
Losing Weight Without Restriction?
Lew_Lang replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before surgery I was 385. They put me on a strict diet and I lost 20lbs. Then the two week liquid diet plus the 1 week post diet I lost another 20lbs. It does depend on the individual. I could tell after the first fill that I had a restriction, but I was still able to eat more than they said I would. I was told that I would not see a difference until fill 4. When I got fill number 4, the first couple days it was hard to even get down water. You will start to feel the restriction at some point. -
I found that when I get a piece of food stuck in my band, belching actually helps me to pass it. I used to have a problem with the hiccups. It was only because I was eating too fast.

21 lbs is awesome. I was fortunate enough that I never battled with the hunger issue. I have found that after 4 fills you really need to revisit what they taught you before surgery. I have found that a lot of what I eat will get stuck if I am not careful. Bread is the worst. I have given up on trying to eat bread. Good luck on your journey

I had my surgery in July and to date I have lost 128 lbs. Its really a mind set. Its going to be hard at first, because when your doctor installed your lapband, he left it empty or with very little saline. You will really not see a difference until you get your third or fourth fill. make sure you follow the doctors orders and get a fill once a month. I wish you all the luck in the world. If you follow the plan, it will work. I also found that popcorn is a very good snack for lapband patients.
