Frustrated - 3/6 Mos Required By Insurance
irishmama2004 replied to Aero Train's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just try the 2 shakes a day, lean cuisine or small meal (chicken breast or piece of fish and veggies only) with the only snacks being broth, SF jello, popsicles, carb friendly yogurt, G2 etc. It sucks but you will lose a ton. TRack it on my fitness pal for 10 days. Tell people to stay away from you bc you will be a bear. Or maybe that is just me. You will lose a lot. You can find a new doctor if you are upset that they have not been specific enough but they will all want you to do some kind of weight loss before they cut so why not just stck with what you know. I gained weight for most of my pre-op. Just couldn't say goodbye to food. I have lost 13 pounds really quickly. It is probably really more but my scale is driving me nuts so I am avoiding. -
Who Did You Tell?
irishmama2004 replied to Gene1970's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Testify Lissa!! I am the same way. While I haven't put it on Facebook (yet) I have told a ton of people. In fact today I sent out an email to two ministries in church that I am involved with. I want to wear a shirt one skinny day long from now that says *Results Typical, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy People are crazy if they think it is the easy way out. Now, that being said no judgements at all for not telling people. Everyone's walk is different. Everyone's job and relationships are different. If I were younger or single I know that I would want it to be a closely guarded secret. If I worked in an office I would too. I work in a hospital on a floor where at least 12 people have has gastric bypass or band. I think I am the first sleever. -
So Whats My Real Weight?
irishmama2004 replied to Sandra_Baby87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was totally doing awesome and then I moved my scale. Maybe 5 inches. Gained 3 pounds. Unreal. I can't wait to get down to 320 and start weighing on the wii fit again. Too fat for it right now. -
What I Really Want To Know About A Tummy Tuck
irishmama2004 replied to crosswind's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I say get the surgery. There are always what ifs with the money. You could not buy makeup and donate money over time, you could own two pairs of thrift store clothes and donate your whole closet to the poor, you could sell all of your possessions and live with a small table and chair and bed. You could never watch tV or a movie and spend every free moment in a food pantry. Or you could have the surgery and keep your possessions and make a conscious effort to do a little more. Give a little more. Save a little more. If everyone did a little more then then the world would be much better than if a very few gave a ton. -

Dixie-Yay! Isn't it amazing when you actually hear a date associated with your surgery. Makes it so real. Kinda like when you are pregnant and you do the math or the doc tells you and you find out when you are due. Well, they are both the start to a new life. -
Finally...surgical Consult....too Many Questions?
irishmama2004 replied to BKMama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I am just going to print this off. There are a couple that I know the answer to because my surgeon meets with us in the beginning so I asked but the rest is awesome. And of course I will ask about ambien too. Irishmama gotta sleep! -

irishmama2004 replied to BKMama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you could always record the convo on your phone and write in your answers later. When I try to write down what people are saying while I'm asking questions I get confused. That way you can review it all later. -
S,uper Sweet Hubby
irishmama2004 replied to irishmama2004's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay for good husbands! Yes, I am worried he will hurt himself too. I go to the class tomorrow and he says he will start on Saturday. He has always been pretty slim but over the last few years about 30 pounds has crept on him so it would be great if he could lose that. When I used to join weight watchers every few months or so (LOL) he would join and drop like 10 pounds in a week when I would lose 3. So I'm sure that may be frustrating for me. But I also want him healthy. -
Congrats! I am the 23rd. I have to lose 15 more and im already at a stall. Boo.

irishmama2004 replied to BKMama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel like a dope. I only have 5 questions and two of them are about ambien. Okay, can you cut and paste your qs? Or at least give us your top 5. And by the way, your profile pic is very beautiful. -
Still waiting for final approval from insurance but the surgeon has given me a date. I'm so excited. It is the last day of school for my kids and my mom will be able to come and help. That is huge! It is also far enough in advance from my beach trip on June 20. So excited! Any sleeve sisters and brothers on May 23?

3 Hour Class?
irishmama2004 replied to joyful noise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish my class on thursdaybwas just for sleevers. I just know a lot of it will be about bypass. The band people get their own class. Why cant we. -
I just bought one of those baby formula divided containers. I can put the powder in and mix it on the go.

Got My Date---May 23
irishmama2004 replied to irishmama2004's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks ladies! I am looking at it like this. I am done having kids, I am on my way to new health and I am determined to not need her for anything like this again. I just look at my beautiful daughter and think if she needed life saving surgery (and my mom does totally agree that this is) then there isn't anything I wouldn't do to help her. -

Got My Date---May 23
irishmama2004 replied to irishmama2004's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now my mom is giving me grief about the surgery being when it is. Seems that while I have been waiting to hear she has been making tons of plans as if this was never going to happen. With three small children I need her help and she will be a big help but she always has to be the martyr for this kind of stuff. When she was caring for her dying mother I could never get a status update on my grandmother without 25 minutes of how hard my mom has worked. And that's fine. Caring for an ill or dying family member is work. But it burns me up to know that as relatives call to ask how I am she will go on and on about how hard it is to watch my three kids for a week and how she had to drop all of these plans to come help. Grrrr. -

Working While On The Liquid Diet Before Surgery
irishmama2004 replied to nancylovescats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Supportive coworkers, that must be nice. Actually the nurses I work with are very supportive. It is the techs that do not help at all and they are the ones who are supposed to get my c-sections out of bed and take my vag deliveries to the bathroom the first time after I have assessed them. We will see. -
Working While On The Liquid Diet Before Surgery
irishmama2004 replied to nancylovescats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
12 days post op! Good Lord. I was hoping for three full weeks. And then only working in the nursery. Yes, message me anytime. I think I need to call my surgeon. He gave 3-4 weeks for my co-workers but they all had bypass. Maybe this is less. Hmmm. I teach childbirth and was hoping to only take one week off for that. -
Just Started My 6Mo. Diet
irishmama2004 replied to HalfpastAmazing33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just finished mine. My advice is to set small realistic monthly goals. I just figured I would lose it all at the end and I came up short of having a great weightloss. I was only down 10 pounds (although I gained and lost the same 5 for the whole time). Good luck! -
Working While On The Liquid Diet Before Surgery
irishmama2004 replied to nancylovescats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work 12 hour shifts overnight and I start to feel weak after so many hours. It is funny though because I'm not actually tired like I used to feel after we would order Steak-out or go to the 24 hour cafeteria for burgers and cheese fries. Now, I feel great but just weak. Like I can tell that I am not gripping things as tightly and if I am trying to get a surgical patient up for the first time my legs start to shake. That may also be from increased workout. -
