Any May Sleevers Here?
barngirl replied to chicagochic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different so follow what your doctor tells you as far as protein is concerned. I'm glad your brought up the liquid stools-me too! I know it's gross but I was gonna ask about this- for me it's when I have gas.... This is good though, most if the time after surgery and pain meds the opposite happens and one ends up having to take an enima.. So I think we are on a good track. I feel 1000% better than I did on Thursday right after surgery, another 1000% better than Friday, which was better than Thursday- uncomfortable and nauseous. I can walk around today, getting up is easier and I'm sticking to my 2oz of fluids per hour and taking my pain and anti nausea meds as prescribed. I wish you much success!!!! And I hope your feeling good! -
Sleeved on May 3rd, got released from the hospital 8pm on the 4th. Feeling better each day-still feel beat up, but better each day. Had a hyadle hernia they had to fix as well so maybe that's making it worse? I have my schedule of liquid of 2oz every hour your awake and protien (I'm using prostat 64so I just drink 2oz at a time-15 grams of Protein in those 2 0z). Doing my breathing exercises and I have to inject myself with lovanox 2x a day for next 2 weeks to reduce risk of blood clots. I was scared to death b4 surgery, showed my husband where everything was the night b4 ( papers, jewlrey etc) but after meeting with the team of doctors I felt much better on the day of surgery. The anasethiologist group was very nice-asked a million questions and made me feel better. I still had that "oh my god I'm alive" reaction along with what did I just do when I woke up from surgery but I'm sure I made the right decision. I've been up walking around but I feel better laying down trying to sleep. It's strange, like time moves slowly- I look at the clock and it's 1 and I fall asleep- think ove been sleeping for hours but it's only 1:14. Didn't get any sleep in the hospital between buzzers, beeps, alarms etc- very noisy and the nurses come in for vitals every hour. Today is Sunday May6th and I'm up walking around much more. I'm on schedule with my liquids and proteins- who would of thought you had to keep on top of just drinking a couple ounces every hour. I'm feeling so much better today compared to day of and day after, still uncomfortable but 1000 percent better!

Today I'm able to move around much easier and getting my proteins and fluids in. My new tummy growls!! Feels weird when it does, hurts a little andd makes a rather large noise for such a small thing. -

No the shots don't hurt- you grab some fat on the belly area and it's a very thin needle. You put into the fat, push the plunger and that's it. Good luck!!! I'm not going to lie, the first 2 days isn't fun at all but it does get better by the day after that. I'm still nauseous and in pain but it's 1000 percent better -

The only person I was sharing this JOURNEY with was my husband-whom has been very supportive and just wants what's best for me (that says a lot since I'm s self pay and having it done in the States so there is a lot we will do without for a while). Anyway, I have 4 kids (mid twenties down to 17) and I was trying not to tell them prior (no need to worry them) but my oldest is already on the scent. Every time I had a NUT meeting she was calling me to "see where I was", she was in my bathroom the other day and saw the pre stat Protein and starting asking me all types of questions. Once she's on the scent she is very tenacious. My surgery is THURSDAY and my husband is going to drive me, I'm the first in the am so we would have to leave the house by 6:30am- at that point the nosey body will be all over this so we decided he will tell her after my surgery is complete. Then she can come and visit (not b4 or she will end up having a nervous breakdown (I'm not kidding-she has borderline personalitiy disorder with BIG attachment issues). It's kind of a double edge sword-on one hand I really wanted to keep this very private (and my kids have big mouths) but I guess by allowing our oldest to be in the know will help me keep on my post op diet and it will make it easier for me when I get back home. -

OK, week 1 May sleevers- how nervous are you? I'm May 3rd and was more happy and a little jumpy last week, however I woke up this am and I'm getting the jitters.. Second guessing myself-but I know I need to do this for a healthier me.. Tomorrow night I start with the magnisium drink and then Wed night I finish it (bowl flushing). I'm just starting to think what to pack.. Anybody else thinking this?? I'm thinking sweatpants with a very comfortable waistband, I assume I don't need PJ's but maybe I'll pack-I'm trying to remember back 17 years to my last childbirth packed bag -

No I'm not at high risk, this is my doctors standard operating procedure. He has all his patients do this for 2 weeks following surgery to make sure no clot problems. I guess its much better to be safe than sorry. It's really sinking in that this time next week I'll be 2 days post op Happy and scared at the same time. I've been doing all the second guessing myself stuff that I'm sure is normal, just gotta jump in with both feet, like a cold pool... -

I went and picked up my post op prescriptions today (surgery is this coming Thursday ). I couldn't believe how expensive they were. OMG- $848.00 and thats with a script plan. My doctor requires enoxaparin (lovenox) syringes 2x a day for 2 weeks so no blood clots. Does anyone else's doctor require this? I'm a self pay (united health but employer plan doesn't cover WLS at all) and it's already really expensive. I hope there aren't a lot more surprises. -

My doctor had me purchase pro-stat 64 (sugar free). 2 tablespoons have 15 grams of protein so you can put in a shake, water or anything to get in the protein. -

Had my pre op tests done yesterday at the hospital- now it's really starting to be real! Getting nervous, thinking about all the "what ifs". I'm starting my pre op diet today. Looking forward to a healthier and happier life -
