  1. Yayy! I bet you're feeling like a real person, hahaha! Well, almost like you're old self. This liquid diet is tolerable for me but the sensation of chewing is strangely missed! Congrats on your continued success :-)

    Omg What Did I Do?

Lyra gave some very good advice. There are always nurses you can call at the surgeons office. But the post-op diets truly vary so so much. I'm sure you're just fine. Take a deep breath, some milk of Magnesia and start stickin to a strict liquid diet til you see your surgeon. :-)
  3. Ok, thanks everyone for the toot chat & support! Hitting CVS today to grab some delicious <sarcasm> Milk of Magnesia! Have a great, healthy day all!
  4. Debella, thank you. I have some in the fridge. I'll take some in the am and perhaps go for a long walk. I appreciate your time & tip!
  5. Ooh, ok. Thanks Nick. Will get that tomorrow. G'nite!
  6. It's been 7 full days. And I had solid foods the entire week before surgery... So I'm concerned! Thanks for the reply.

    Im Here At Yale!

Doing very well. Still tender but I also tend to push myself and overdo it. I have no regrets and fining the clear diet fairly do able! I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the prayers!!!!
  8. Waiting to be taken into OR. all my Christians out there, please pray for me. Thank u! Janine
  9. I went to my pre-op visit determined to have bypass. However, when I heard the risk of death was 1 in 300 vs 1 in 1000 go sleeve my ears perked up. Another concern of mine was dumping and also malabsorption of the nutrients. Many folks experience hair loss and I am worried about that. Hope this helps!

    Such Pain

Where is the pain? Someone else who posted was re-admitted because she had acid ulcers and everytime she ingested something the pain was excruciating. I wouldn't mess with this..I would call doctor. I had surgery 4/24. I have tenderness and occasional gas pain but nothing I even need pain mess for. Been off them since 4/27. Keep us posted & get checked out!!!
  11. Its interesting how much post-op diets vary. It's also interesting how many people are pushing the limits after such a serious procedure. I had my sleeve on 4/24. I'm restricted to Water and 6oz of Ensure throughout the day. food smells wonderful and looks wonderful but I didnt have this surgery to look forward to being a glutton again. I truly WANT to live and eat healthier!!! A clean diet for 99% of my life. Be strong everyone! (((hugs)))))
  12. It seems to me lots of you are sick and tired of mundane eating. Perhaps some can share tips and recipes? I'm only 5 days post op and dreaming of the day I can eat solids. I wrote a list for future ideas so I don't get stuck in a rut! We love ethnic foods. So here's my contribution: NAM SOD (google for exact recipe) Lean Ground chicken Fresh Ginger Fresh Lemongrass Soy Sauce Fish Sauce Roasted Peanuts Sautee all in a non-stick pan and eat inside a Boston lettuce leaf!

    Crazy Bad Pain

Feel better. Sorry you've been suffering.
  14. PS: this is one of my favorite Thai salads!
  15. Ok...who took the sledgehammer to my side? Oof! So tender. But not horrible. Trying to take it easy. I never wished I could pass gas....but I REALLY need some of this trapped air/gas to dissipate! Can anyone tell me when that might happen? food smells incredible and I'd like to join my family. I'm proud to say I am in this to win! I realize just how often I ate just because. Time to Eat-to-Live, not Live-to-Eat! I am very thirsty and am constantly sipping. Another new habit to learn, not gulping!!!! I am trying so hard to stay hydrated. I refuse to put artificial foods/sweeteners in my body. So for next two weeks, per my surgeon, it's 2 ounces of Ensure three times daily and lots of water! I wish all newbies much success and patience. Don't be sad, resist temptation....WE CAN DO THIS!!!!! We're going to be so healthy and energetic a few months down the road. Be Strong :-)
  16. So sorry you're having s hard time. I was sleeved on Tuesday too. I feel the hardest part is to overcome thinking of food and wanting to eat even though I am not hungry! Are the Soups and yogurts low fat? I'm shocked they ok'd that! Jealous almost. Be careful you don't rupture! This is a difficult life change. Please know you're not alone and you'll be a happier and healthier woman/mommy for the rest of your life if you can just get through these few weeks and be really good to yourself! ((((hugs))))

    Gas I Guess

I am experiencing the same. I was sleeved on Tues 4/24 and I have yet to release gas (5days!). I definitely feel this pain is gas related. No worries "This Too Shall Pass". Hahaha!
  18. Ll be honest, having a rough time. I'm told 2 out of 10 have bad swelling of the stomach afterwards. I am one of the unfortunate ones. Took my swallow test yesterday and nothing would pass due to swelling. I refused to have them remove my drain & IV. Too soon. Listen to your bodies folks. Don't let them rush you. It is most important to walk and try to release gas/air. Very painful. Morphine is my best friend.

    One Year, 92 pounds

Hello Cheri..... I saw a response from you on a post regarding natural Protein options and began to read your other posts. My surgery is tomorrow, I am a nervous wreck. I truly appreciate the time and information you've been providing to all of us on this site. I, too, am a mommy of twins and so worried about my excess skin!!! But, as long as I'm healthier, that's what plastic surgery is there for. Best wishes and thanks again for all the supportive & informative posts. - Jeannine

    Surgery In Approx An Hour

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
  24. Ne week from today I'll be having my sleeve surgery. Sitting in waiting room right now for pre-op. Im very excited and nervous about surgery. I need to read as many success stories as possible to keep my mind off the risks. I'm having this done at Yale so that gives me comfort being that it's a top hospital in the world.
