I have surgery on Monday the 25th. I have been on pre-op diet for two weeks. I knew I was a strong person, but just didn't know how strong. We spent a week at the beach this past week. Let me tell you...it was hard!! This was the first time on vacation where there were no alcoholic beverages or sodas consumed. I had to watch everyone else indulge in processed junk foods that are so good on the beach! I kept strong and reminded myself of the big picture. Now I must push thru tomorrow because I will only be allowed jello and broth.

google Morton's Neuroma. I had it in both my feet. Symptoms started out just like your's then got worse. Had surgery to remove the nerve last year. Now there is no more pain or tingling. I have to be sure I wear proper fitting footwear. HTH.

I think you will be fine. Do you have standard or basic? I was just approved for june 25th. It took about 3days to be approved. Do you have co-morbities? If so that will help the process. I didn't have to do the 3mo diet since I had records of me attending a weight loss program on my own(bariatric clinic). BCBS fed. has been really good so far! Keep me posted. -
I have the basic. The only prob I have run into is my psych eval. req. by my dr was out of network. So I had to pay 225.00 out of pocket However, after everything is done my total for surgery is 450.00. That's drs and hospital. Not to bad considering my health!!

funny. I told my husband that I neede my sushi fix before I start my pre-op diet!!
-
that's who is doing mine. Do you attend the support meetings?

I have a severe tape allergy, even to paper tape. I have to use this special burn creme(silver sulfide) when I have any bandages on an area for more than a few hours. My surgeon is going to use some type of derma bond glue. I just hope I don't have a reaction to it.

I Had To Cancel My Surgery For Tomorrow :-(
carolinagirlz replied to Nanny3Kids's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so sorry for your loss. Sending prayers your way. -
I have bcbcs fed also. It was really easy for approval. I had gone to a weight loss clinic last year. That qualified for my 3mo supervised diet. I met with psych and submitted med. records for two year period. They only need proof from any dr that you weighed in with. (gyn, pcp, orthoped, etc) I was approved in 2days after submitting paper work. And they cover a lot!! Hope this helps

Way, Way Tmi... Er... Chafing: A Funny (?) Story
carolinagirlz replied to ouroborous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this happened to my husband when he lost 125 lbs. He was an avid cyclist(spandex). He would get chafed all the time. He started using a&d ointment. The smell is awful but if prevented friction. He also got chafed from his "man boobs"! It was so bad he wore bandaids over them when he rode his bike. He treated it with wearing an under armour shirt under his jersey. Good luck! -
Hair Loss... Help!
carolinagirlz replied to SecretStarr82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nioxin comes in three levels according to your hair. ( color treated, fine/thinning, dry/brittle,etc) You can buy these at walmart, target and I have even seen them at sam's club. I can't tell you if they are cheaper b/c I personally think you should buy professional hair and skin products from salons with professionals. The shampoo and conditioner I use is a big bottle(32oz). It retails at our salon for 35-40.00 depending on sales. It lasts clients who shampoo 2-3x week with it about 4-6mo. -
Hair Loss... Help!
carolinagirlz replied to SecretStarr82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
as a hairdresser, Nioxin is wonderful for thinning hair. I use it on my elder clients whose hair is coming out and it helps slow it down and also promotes new hair growth. Take your vitamins and make sure you get your protein. These are vital for healthy hair. Hope this helps! -
Yay!!!! Got my insurance approval and June 25th is the beginning of my new life! I'm not really looking forward to the preop diet while I'm at the beach, but I gotta do it cause I'm ready for a change. Btw, I was amazed at how quick things went. I went to a seminar on April 3rd and did the nut and psych at the beginning of may. Now I'm all set. I'm thankful for my bcbs federal program.
