    Strength Training

Hey sleevers, The reason for this post is to get some ideas and advice on strength training. I have this wild notion to get into boxing/muay thai/kick boxing/MMA training. I am actually going to visit a gym tomorrow night that has all of those areas and offers classes 1 to 2 times a week. They suggested I come tour the gym and see what a class looks like. I'm excited about becoming as strong as I feel like I can be. Have any sleevers been doing any hardcore strength training like this? My body wants to be stronger, I can feel it! I feel like I need more attention that only cardio and free weights can give me. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Take care! -Caseydoodle
  2. POOKEY!!! OMG you read my mind LMAO. I have the SAME problem. I feel the exact way you do, I wanted so badly to run but couldn't for so long. At first I tried a tighter fitting tank top under my tee shirt, but that wasn't enough. I also tried a pretty snug girdle (felt weird and was waaay too hot on the jog) now I'm in the market for a belly wrap like some pregnant folks use. I think someone suggested that, as well. Did you ever find relief? You are too funny. Congrats on your success so far, btw, you are a great inspiration for us newbies. -doodle

I Just Got My Surgery Day Today...yay

CONGRATS!!! I am so happy for you! I am 6 weeks out and I remember fondly the day I got my surgery date - I was thrilled! You'll do great - it was so important for me to have a huge support system at home and at work. I was nervous, too. I made sure and took it easy before surgery and DO EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU. I'll say it again - you'll do great!
  4. I'm so glad I'm amongst friends! (Wait... am I posting in the right place?) I had some concerns that I thought you all might have some insight on. I am worried about stretching. Is it normal to worry about this? I am also having a hard time pacing myself and slowing down - A LOT. I guess old habits die hard, right? Old habits die dramatically and with explosions and fireworks. My old habits seem to die like Willem Dafoe's epic demise in Platoon. Ok, so slowing down and taking small bites is eluding me. I keep asking myself,..."Case, is it REALLY that hard to take smaller bites and slow down?" And the resounding answer is usually yes. Any tips? Anyone else worried about such things so early on? The Doodle needs help! P.S. 25 lbs down, lots to go.
  5. Hi, everyone! I had been looking at this forum long before I had my surgery and found lots of answer to my many, many questions. I'm glad I decided to become a member. I have a pretty typical story - was heavy all my life and when I got into my later 20's starting having health concerns. My family history is ripe with terrible genetics and I knew I was next on the list if I didn't do something proactive. I have a lot of family that had never struggled with their weight, and sharing the same gene pool as me - baffled me as they ate massive portions at holidays and fast food for 2 meals out of the day, etc. You guessed it, never gained an ounce. Me? Oh, I could smell a chicken nugget and feel my thighs expanding. But I am thrilled with my results so far, everything went so smoothly from insurance approval through hospital discharge that I was actually expecting something to happen... I did have some blues at the beginning but they passed. I hit a stall early on, but it passed, too. I hope I can be in a position to give someone advice one day. Thanks for listening! I hope to post on another topic one day! I'll also put up some pics, soon enough.
