Taking A Short Road Trip A Month After Surgery
mrspopeye replied to Megatron's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you will be just fine. I am almost 2 wks post-op and life is pretty normal. -
Welcome! You have come to the right place. Good luck on your journey.

I second using the heating pad for those gas pains- it was really the only thing that helped me.

After Surgery, Do Any Of You Struggle With Still Eating Too Fast ???
mrspopeye replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can totally relate to this. My husband is a fast eater and then in 15 minutes he is asking for the check if we are in a restaurant and I'm just getting started. I'm thinking about getting a baby fork and spoon. Also, someone mentioned putting the fork down between bites and I think that helps. -
Way to go! Thanks for the inspirational post!

Deb, this is merely a speed bump in the road to success. Above all, you want the best scenario for surgery and he may be trying to get your liver in shape so that you are at lower risk of complications. That itself will make the delay well worth it. Keep your chin up- you are going in the right direction and everyday is one day closer.

Glad to hear you are doing well! It will get better everyday .

Longest Week Of My Life!
mrspopeye replied to JulieC74's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the week before surgery was almost as bad as the week after- I was on protein shakes, no real food for 7 days prior to surgery and 3 days after, so I went 10 full days without a bite of real food. But I did it. It will be worth it. -
Well, I am on Day 11 post-op and I feel pretty normal. That cranky gas pain is finally gone, but my appetite came back with a vengeance. I can eat bigger bites of normal foods in a shorter amount of time every day it seems. It's almost like nothing ever changed. But I have got to rise above this and stay on plan. My first challenge will be a Memorial Day BBQ tonight. May the force be with me. Might have to get on Lap Band Talk from my I pad. I am so ready for restriction!

Newbie...stats And Surgery Scheduled!
mrspopeye replied to M0Mof3NC's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you! I wished I had done this earlier in life. I was probably your size when I was 29. 10 years later, I packed on another 70lbs when I finally had surgery this year at 39. You will not regret it. -
LOL. Too funny. I am day 8 post-op and boy did my appetite totally return. I can eat normal bites now and about a cup of food. I totally understand. I try to look at all of this as phases: 2 wks of pre-op diet phase, then surgery was a phase, and bandster hell will be a phase too. I helps me to focus because it will all be temporary till I get restriction. Same theory that some coaches use, like basketball- let's not focus our attention on the score right now or the outcome of the game at the end- for the next 4 minutes focus only on rebounding, etc and the rest will come. Same with weight loss. Use your energy to focus on the things you can control TODAY.

I did not have one but I kind of wish I did. One of my incisions above the belly button is at the largest part of my belly and it often felt like something was pushing from the inside out just after surgery- I'm fine now 8 days postop, but I can see how that would be a good idea.

Happy Band-day! I hope to be as successful as you one day. Thanks for the inspirational post.

Awesome! So happy for you! I hope to be in your shoes one day!

Who Is Pre Op Dieting Over Memorial Day??
mrspopeye replied to Bamabander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a bummer! Mother's Day was 1 day before my surgery and I could only have clear liquids. I actually signed up for a 12 hr shift at work on that Sunday and I was glad I did. I would have been stir crazy at home. I also went to a Pampered Chef party while I was on shakes only and did not eat anything, which was very hard! Best advice I can give is keep busy and stay focused on the prize. Just think what you will look like next Memorial Day at the beach. This will be a distant memory and sooooo worth it! -

Still Remaining Strong On This Pre-Op Liquid Diet!!
mrspopeye replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good for you! That pre-op diet was tough. I think post-op has been easier than that pre-op diet so far. Remember it is a temporary phase- you will get to eat again. You can do it. Everyday is one day closer and it will be here before you know it. -
Good luck to you! It will be easier than you think!

Best of luck to you! This surgery is easier than others I have had- you will do much better than you think.
