At least 4 days a week I workout at the gym. I'm torn between which cardio workout is better. I like the elliptical and the stair climber. But then there's the treadmill, which bores me. But I can add incline and speed. Does anyone have a preference or one they see and feel better results from?

Post-Op Liquids
Star1221 replied to Big Black Beauty Queen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly Emily. I drank everything room temp or warmer. Also, I was on only clear liquids for the first week. Not even protein. Maybe take a day and do only water, broth, and crystal light ( or whatever clear liquids). This will give you tummy a rest for a minute and regroup. Hope you feel better soon, hun -
I like almonds, string cheese singles, Atkins bars, jerky (beef or turkey)... Stuff like that. You can take it anywhere and it has some protein quality to it. That's what I use for snacks.

My name is Star. I'm a 30 year old mother of one beautiful daughter (she's 1). I met my adoring husband when I moved from New York to Mississippi when I was 13. Of those 16 years, we've been married for 10. I have a BA in psychology but don't use it. I work in a call center as operations manger for a very well known computer company. I love to read when I have time, but music is my passion. Growing up in the 80's I got the best of all the music. From 70's Clapton to 80's Starship. I played basketball and soccer in high school though I was always a functioning chunk. Size 16 or up since I was 12. I play several instruments and was in musicals as well. For free time now... Wait... What free time lol. One year old and working 10 hours a day fixes that. I got sleeved for me. The first thing I had done for me... Maybe ever. Excited to see what I look like under all this fluff. I've enjoyed reading everyone's introductions :-)

Thank you so much for answering everyone. Maybe I should've told you my normal routine. Day one (typical)- 45 minutes on elliptical. Then to leg weights for about 20 minutes. This includes hip abductions both inner and outter. Leg presses and so on. Day two- 20 minutes on stair climber, elliptical, or treadmill. High intensity. 30 minute ab class. 20 minutes on arms, chest, and back. All weights are low weight, high reps. Repeat one and two. I'm just wanting to burn hard and fast. I had a trainer, but basically he told me as long as I have a good sweat I'd be fine. I was almost 300 pounds. A good sweat took 5 minutes lol. So I dropped him. But the interval training sounds great. Thank you guys again.

How far out are you? I know my first month out I was exhausted all the time. I think it's mostly to do with lower calorie intake. Your body will adjust. As for the hair... It's something we have to look forward to. If you search the site, there are lots of threads on this and all have some great ideas. Just hang in there. Keep your eye on the prize :-)

I was never told no straw or caffeine. So have used them from day one. One cup of coffee in the morning. I use equal but a little sugar in moderation won't hurt. Just add it into your daily calories and carbs. And my dr said I could have a drink. I drink jack so flat coke zero and a shot (75 calories or So) and I'm a happy girl. This is a lifestyle change to teach us moderation. Not to completely hold us down. It gets easier.

I found my fix for my demons. Because lord knows I love me some sweets (Brownie Sunday Please). Atkins bars. They are sweet. Around 150 calories on average, and like 3 net carbs at most. So I indulge when my body tells me I need sweets... Ie TOM. Just trying to do it the healthiest way I can. Before I would've grabbed a pack of cookies and a big glass of milk and eaten like 10...

I lost lots of hair after I had my daughter (still losing it actually). So I think this is a fair trade. I know it will grow back. And worse case, for a few months... A wig lol. I've dyed and cut my hair so much this should be cake.

Not Ready To Go Back To Work...
Star1221 replied to missmachine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't think you are ready, then you're not. Your dr will let you off for as long as you need I am sure. As long as you have a dr's note, nothing can be done. I know you said you were on vacation, but all you have to tell her is a medical emergency came up, and you will bring her an excuse when you come back... You don't have to tell her what. Good luck honey. I hope you feel better. -
Does Anyone Else Feel This Way?
Star1221 replied to leighx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you follow the plan, it will work. We all just have to make sure we don't fall into the same pattern we were in before. The only advice that has echoed in my head is: Remember, you didn't gain it all super fast, don't expect to lose it super fast. There's gonna be stalls. There's going to be moments when you ask yourself if you're doing it right. Just keep going. You guys will all be fine. 55 pounds off in 2 months. And that's with a 3 week stall. Good luck. -

8 Weeks Out - Slow Scale Movement!
Star1221 replied to BABEwiththePOWER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the exact same problem as you. Slow moving scale. Surgery date I was 256. I am now 220. But I also lost inches and like you 3 weeks with no weight loss. But we will make it. Just have to keep with it.
