Random Questions I Can't Find The Answers To
Star1221 replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I weigh almost everything. When I go out I just eye it, but my stomach tells me when I've had enough regardless. -
I Need Some Advice
Star1221 replied to Want2bSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That was going to be my suggestion. It took a couple weeks till I could drink something cold. Warm or room temp water, broth, and crystal light. It doesn't hit your empty stomach as hard. In a few weeks you'll remember how you felt while you're taking a good swig -
You're starting to get dehydrated possibly. It's hot. When you leave the house, always keep a bottle of water with you. Sip the whole time you're on the road. Also, being to close out from surgery your body is still getting used to lack of calories. Another thing, are not still taking pain meds? That could cause it as well. Feel better. It's temporary

Besides the pre-op diet for me, this was the hardest part. For a while I would drink 2 shakes a day and drink the rest. It's mentally hard, yes. And way less calories than you're used to. But you will adapt and so will your body. Everyone in the first couple of weeks have the "Oh sh**, what have I done"days. I am 2 1/2 months out. Now I can chew stuff it isn't that bad. And drinking gets easier. I can actually gulp 4 ounces at a time. Maybe 20 number in an hour or so with no problems. Just hang on for a couple of weeks. It's so worth it

I am using a straw now. If I didn't, I would never get all my fluids if not. No gas issue. Was never told not to. Each Dr has their own rules. I say talk to the dr about it and see what his reason it and if you can bend it.

Question For The Mommies
Star1221 replied to JenniJune's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just cooked them what I normally would. I still cook for them. I know right now it is going to be hard to not want to taste and bite... But you can do it. It's so worth it. -
I went through the same thing. Almost same stats as you. I was on a 3 1/2 week stall. I tried everything. More exercise. More water. More calories. Finally... It moved. And like 8 pounds in a week. My stall started at week 4 and ended at 7. I am 9 weeks now. From 230 to 219. Just keep proteins first. Walk walk walk. Up your water some. Maybe up your calories a bit (I was only getting like 350-450, now at 600-700) It will move. Just give it time. Good luck.

Thinking About Bypass Instead Of Sleeve?

Normal In An Unrealistic World
Star1221 replied to Looking Ahead's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My brother was the same. In fact, he called me shamu on a daily basis... Now he's 340 pounds and I am 220 and I rub it in daily lol. (He is 6'5" but he's still big, so ha.) You know we are hardest on ourselves. You need to tell yourself daily "I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and dog-gone it, people like me." (Yes, snl Stewart Smiley lol) When you project positive, people see positive. And as far as eating... Your sleeve won't let you eat that much. So as long as you make the right decisions, you're great. -
Sounds like a blast. I was basically cleared for everything at 8 weeks. Just talk to your dr. He will let you know about that.

Thinking About Bypass Instead Of Sleeve?

Transferring of addictions. We go from food to alcohol. Or drugs, or sex. Just something to take it's place. -
Normal In An Unrealistic World
Star1221 replied to Looking Ahead's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First I would like to start off by saying I hate that all of these thoughts are keeping awake and away from taking care of yourself. Sometimes life isn't the pretty picture we all see on tv and in movies. This is the real world. There's going to lots of downs, but lots of ups too. The downs make the ups taste sweeter. All we can do is take one day at a time. Now with your husband... Don't think that because he doesn't look at you like he is mad about you that he isn't. You guys have a history and it goes back a while. There are going to be days that you both look at each other and see that spark and times you won't. I learned this the hard way as well. I've been with my husband for 16 years, married for 10. Nothing is easy when it's worth it. Maybe sit down and talk to him about what you feel. Because when men love, they want to provide. We want to nurture. So his working so much may just be for you. Also, not supporting you. He fears the worse. Mine did too. And mine is also an enabler. I am sure you've heard: "You look fine" so many times. But once he sees that weight falling off of you he will say that you made the right choice. We all have fears about going under the knife. I just have to say that this is the best thing I've ever done for me. From the seminar until now I have lost 65 pounds. I could've never done that on my own. So just breath. This is for you to make the quality of your life better for you and your family. Tomorrow is going to be a great day. You will make it perfectly. I know you just wanted to vent, but I felt compelled to share the little bit I have learned through this. Please keep us updated. We'll see you on the loser's bench. Kisses and hugs. -
This depends on how far out you are? If you are far enough to eat them both, then yes. By all means eat some

I think just about everyone of us has this problem. Sometimes even gain. So no worries. It's normal. Usually when it's over, the next week it comes off a little faster.

Cravings & Hunger Q's
Star1221 replied to bandalyons83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You mentally will want the food for a good month. You'll see or smell it and that's all you'll want. I was like that with a burger. I wanted a double bacon cheese burger so bad. I even googled pics of it. Then just one day, it stopped. You will "crave" a lot of stuff. Things just don't taste the same anymore. Fried foods smell so bad now. Like old burnt grease. Don't worry. Everything will calm down. -
Right now focus on fluids. The protein is very important, but not as important as staying hydrated. Try some broth or tea or even coffee if warm feels good. I see cold feels good, so Popsicles are good. Put Crystal Light in the freezer 'til it's slushy. Every little bit helps. I hope you feel better soon.

No (Or Low) Sugar - Low Carb Protein Bars?
Star1221 replied to missmachine's topic in Food and Nutrition
Atkins bars are very low carb. Like 3 carbs per bar. They look like they are high, but what you need to look at is net carbs. The other stuff is stuff like fiber, sugar alcohol, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, and Glycerine, which have little to no impact on a diet. I learned this from doing the Atkins diet so many time. BTW, they taste good too.. -
No we're right next to each other. Don't be nervous about the plane ride or surgery. Everything will go great. Good luck and let us know how beautiful Costa Rica is.

We also have hair loss. I don't think it's as bad. But any surgery, stress, or having a baby does the same. It will come back.
